FAQ’S

How do I know when to replace my battery?

The battery life indicator will flash red when it’s time to replace your battery. If you continue to use your Roomba with a low or empty battery, you may damage your battery and void its warranty.

How do I know when to replace my HEPA filter?

Your HEPA filter should be replaced every 3 months or sooner if it becomes damaged or clogged. You can check your filter by removing it from your Roomba and shaking it out. If you see visible debris, you should replace the filter.

How do I clean my brushroll?

Your brushroll can be removed by pressing the release button on the back of your Roomba and pulling it off. Use a soft brush to remove dirt from the rollers and then wipe clean with a damp cloth. Allow to dry before replacing brushroll on Roomba.

How do I reset my Roomba?

To reset your Roomba, press and hold the CLEAN button for 5 seconds until you hear two consecutive beeps. Your Roomba will now beep once every 30 seconds while it charges and then will resume normal operation once fully charged. This behavior will continue until you press CLEAN again or power cycle your Roomba (by unplugging it).

Why does my robot vacuum take so long to charge?

It takes longer for your robot vacuum to charge than most other robot vacuums because of its advanced features, such as iAdapt Responsive Cleaning Technology™, which allows it to clean more efficiently by adapting to different floor surfaces, and its AeroForce™ Filters, which capture 99% of dust and allergens in the air as small as 0.3 microns.

What is the difference between Roomba j7 and j7+?

Otherwise, the j7 devices are higher-end Roombas, so they have features like dual multi-surface rubber brushes and Imprint Smart Mapping, which lets you control which rooms the robot cleans. The biggest difference between the j7 and the j7+ is the inclusion of the clean base on the latter.

When did the iRobot j7+ come out?

Launched in September 2021, the iRobot Roomba j7+ is designed to seamlessly blend with its surroundings. This is the first iRobot vacuum cleaner to use PrecisionVision Navigation, a cutting-edge technology that allows it to detect and avoid pet waste, charging cables, and other obstacles around the house.

Does Roomba j7+ bump into things?

Article Details. Roomba® uses light touch bumper technology to identify walls and other obstacles. This technology allows your robot to slow down and gently touch the obstacle with its bumper before changing direction.

Can Roomba avoid water?

It doesn’t avoid liquid messes
If your pet makes a mess whenever he drinks water, pees on the floor or happens to have a bit of a runnier accident, the Roomba j7+ probably won’t avoid that. “One ‘obstacle’ it did not detect was water left on the floor by Moose after he drank from his bowls.

How many square feet can Roomba j7+ clean?

The iRobot Roomba j7+ was tested between the family room, entryway and kitchen with hardwood floors and area rugs. Covering an area of about 500 sq ft., it represented the largest area in the home that could be vacuumed on the same map.

Does Roomba j7+ need WiFi?

You don’t need WiFi to use the Roomba. You only need WiFi if you want to connect it to your phone or another device like Alexa.

How to Empty the Roomba J7 and J7+

Press the release latch to remove the dustbin: The J7+ dustbin is similar to the I-series with the rear latch. Push this lever to unlock to remove the container.
Open the door, then empty: After removing the dustbin, place it over the trash bin to empty.

Dual Mode Virtual Wall® Barrier*
Note: For best results, place at least 8 feet (2.5 meters) from the Home Base ™.
Use the Dual Mode Virtual Wall® barrier to keep the robot in the places you want cleaned — and out of the ones you don’t. It creates an invisible barrier that only the robot can see. You can leave the device in position between cleanings.

Choose the mode to meet your needs:
Virtual Wall Mode: When the switch is in the Virtual Wall position ( ), the device will create a linear barrier to block openings up to 10 feet (3 meters).

Note: This barrier gets wider as it gets further from the device (refer to illustration).

Halo Mode: Toggle the switch to the Halo position ( ), to create a circular barrier. This will prevent the robot from approaching zones you want to protect such as a pet bowl, vase, or under a desk. The Halo barrier extends approximately 12 inches (30 centimeters) from the center of the device.

Note: The batteries will last about 8-10 months under normal use. If you are not planning to use your Virtual Wall barrier for an extended period of time, be sure to turn the switch to the Off, or middle position.

FAQs

How does the cleaning performance of the Roomba® i4 Robot Vacuum compare to other iRobot models?

A. Power-Lifting Suction delivers 10X the air power* for improved pick-up performance. Premium 3-Stage Cleaning System cleans the dirt and pet hair you see and the allergens and dust you don’t.

 How smart is Roomba® i4?

A. Powered by iRobot Genius™, the i4 learns from your cleaning habits to offer up personalized schedules, while Google Assistant and Alexa allow you to start cleaning with just the sound of your voice. The i4 will even suggest an extra clean when your area’s pollen count is high or during pet shedding season.

Product Warranty?

 The warranty is 2 years.

Does the i4 have a self emptying feature?

Not this model

How it works on carpet only home with long hair fallouts? Wife sometimes has hair loss. Does this roomba i3 pick up long hairs efficiently?

I would say this is my biggest complaint with my Roomba. I have long-ish hair that sheds and the vacuum does not really pick it up. Instead of vacuuming up stray hair, the hair gets wrapped around and around the rollers and brushes of the vacuum. Periodically I need to flip the vacuum over and use scissors and tweezers to remove all the hair that’s gotten wound around the different parts of the vacuum. It’s really pretty annoying and gross. This might not be a problem if you have short hair but the roomba really can’t handle my mid-length hair.

does this do house mapping? this has the option to vacuum a single room

It’s very misleading too. It says in product description above that you can, but you cannot. I have the i3 and in the app, it gives you the option to “send it on a mapping run” and implies you can then define rooms. Evidently, the app is not model specific. I sent this thing around my home 3 times and it would fail each time. I finally found out they i3 doesn’t support the room by room mapping. You have to go to a higher model.

Does it get caught in carpets with fringes at the end?

My old roomba models never got caught on fringes. I bought an i3 for my father, and it did get caught.

How do I keep it from going into certain rooms (that don’t have doors)?

I have a few lightweight 2ft boards that I will quickly grab and place in front of anywhere I don’t want the vacuum. This wouldn’t work if you want the vacuum to run on auto pilot but I would never run the vacuum while I wasn’t home. I take about 3 minutes before I vacuum to pull up a few window treatments that that touch the floor. I often will put my dining room chairs upside down on the. table to allow the vacuum to clean under the table. I quickly check that none of my kiddos toys are going to get sucked up and will also put up the dogs water.

Does the roomba i3 work on 220v – outside the US?

This Robot is a US/Canadian model. Robots sold in the US and Canada come with the domestic charger which is rated at 120V and 60 Hz. We also make Robots for the International Market (outside of the US and Canada) that would come with the universal charger is rated at 120-240V and 50-60 Hz. These Robots would not be available for sale in the US

if I have already purchased an iRobot may I order a protection plan?

Your best course of action at this point would be to return your robot, and then place an order for one including your desired warranty.

Will this model self empty in the i3+ base?

the robot I have does not self empty.

Can I room a be sled to vacuum one room and not everywhere?

No because it doesn’t save maps or let you label areas in your house. If I want to do this for example a master bedroom I would carry it to that location and press the clean button and shut the bedroom door. I also have a few light 2 ft boards that I will use to have it clean one room or block it from going under our bed.

What roomba vacuum has a washable filter?

Roomba’s do not use washable filters. The bin on the Roomba i series is washable but the filter is not. Tapping the filter on the side of garbage can or some customers like using small hand vacuums to clean the filter of dust and debris build up. We recommend changing the filter every 2-3 months for best practices.

Why is the Roomba not square to hit all the corners?

The spinning brushes come out far enough to get into the corners. Don’t expect a deep clean from the roomba, it is only for surface dirt, pet hair, etc. Highly recommend

How does it really do with pet hair?

Fantastic!! We have two shiba inus and they she’d like crazy! We run it once a day and it keeps our hard wood floors and carpet free of pet hair. Best investment me made!

Does the Roomba talk to you?

When stuck you get an alert on your mobile and also roomba talks to you with the error message. But you need to press the bumper and click on a button on the roomba so it runs again. There is also voice control option but you need to buy Alexa. I am no sure if with Alexa, you can unlock the roomba when stuck without the manual touch.

Accessories

The Dual Mode Virtual Wall Barrier (optional accessory for all models)
The Dual Mode Virtual Woll barrier keeps Roomba in the places you want to be cleaned – and out of the ones you don’t.
In between cleaning cycles, you can leave the device operating in its position on the floor. You can set your device to one of two modes to fit your home’s cleaning needs:

Note’. Under normal use, batteries will lose 8-10 months. If are not planning on using your Virtual Woll device for an extended period of time and you would like to store it, be sure to switch it to the “Off ” (middle) position.
Virtual Wall Mode: When the switch is in the “up” position ( ), the device functions as a Virtual Woll. This means that you can set it to block openings of up to 10 feet (3 meters). It creates an invisible, cone-shaped barrier that only Roomba can see.
Note: This barrier gets wider as it gets further from the device (refer to illustration).

Halo Mode: When the switch is in the “down” position ( ), the device creates a protective zone that Roomba will not enter. This prevents Roomba from bumping into items you want to protect (e.g. a dog bowl or vase) or crossing into undesired areas (e.g. a corner or under a desk). The Halo is invisible and reaches approximately 1 2 inches (30
centimeters) from the center of the device.

Dual Mode Virtual Wall® Barrier

Note: For best results, place at least 8 feet (2.5 meters) from the charging station.

Use the Dual Mode Virtual Wall® barrier to keep the robot in the places you want cleaned — and out of the ones you don’t. It creates an invisible barrier that only the robot can see. You can leave the device in position between cleanings.

Dual Mode Virtual Wall included for select models only

Virtual Wall Mode: When the switch is in the Virtual Wall position (), the device will create a linear barrier to block openings up to 10 feet (3 meters).

Note: This barrier gets wider as it gets further from the device (refer to illustration).

Halo Mode: Toggle the switch to the Halo position (), to create a circular barrier.

FAQS

will it work in Europe, under 220V current (after applying a mechanical plug adapter)?

J7 without “+”(self cleaning station) will work at 220V.

How does it handle rugs with fringe?

If the fringe is long, it will get tangled up in it. If short, it does great!

Does the earlier style Virtual wall work with the I7?

The Roomba i7 is compatible with the Dual Mode Virtual Wall Barrier. That virtual wall is compatible with Roomba s, i, e, 900, 800, 700, 600 and 500 Series models.

Does it get stuck on thick rugs?

As long as the rugs do not have shag length nap or doesn’t have tassels it’ll work fine.

Is this this thing mapping your house and uploading it to a google server?

The Imprint Smart Map feature would create a map of your home. This information would be stored in the iRobot Cloud and not on a server like a Google Server.

Is the charger used voltage of this product 100-240 V?

This Robot is a US/Canadian model. Robots sold in the US and Canada come with the domestic charger which is rated at 120V and 60 Hz. We also make Robots for the International Market (outside of the US and Canada) that would come with the universal charger is rated at 120-240V and 50-60 Hz. These Robots would not be available for sale in the US.

Is the battery installed in the vacuum? Or do I have to install it myself?

The battery will be installed in the Robot already when it arrives. Simply unpack and set up the Robot on the Home Base and it will come out of shipping mode.

The iRobot Roomba i7 does not come with the Automatic Dirt Disposal Clean Base. It comes with the standard Charging Dock. If you purchase the iRobot Roomba i7+ it will come with the Automatic Dirt Disposal Clean Base.
