ORATH Power Supply Instruction Manual

Installation

The 2500-PWR24U is designed for use with RATH® signaling devices and systems (SmartRescue Base Station and 2100 Series Phones)

Wiring methods shall be in accordance with NFPA 72 and with all local codes and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.

  1. Mount the 2500-PWR24U in the desired location near the power source and power runs for the devices.
    1. Mark and predrill holes in the walls to line up with the top two keyholes in the enclosure (Fig. 8, pg. 6).
    2. Install two upper fasteners and screws in the wall, with the screw heads protruding.
    3. Place the enclosure’s upper keyholes over the two upper screws and mark the position of the lower two holes.
    4. Remove the enclosure, drill the lower holes, and install two fasteners.
    5. Place the enclosure’s upper keyholes over the upper screws, install the lower two screws, and tighten all of the screws.
  2. Connect earth ground to the terminal located within the enclosure (Fig. 1, pg. 4)
  3. . Connect the three-prong 120vac power cord to the AC input (100-120vac, 50/60Hz).
Note: The green LED on the 2500-PWR24U will illuminate when power is present (Fig. 2, pg. 4)
  4. The slide switch S1 should be in the OFF position for 24vdc (Fig. 3, pg. 4). Measure the DC voltage using the rim potentiometer SVR1 and adjust to 24vdc if necessary (Fig. 4, pg. 4).
  5. Select the appropriate knockouts on the enclosure for routing the low voltage devices.
  6. Connect each low voltage device (SmartRescue Base Station and 2100 Series Phones) to each output terminal 1 – 12 (Fig. 5, pg. 4).
Note: The SmartRescue and 2100 Series Phones are NOT polarity sensitive.
Note: 18AWG or larger wire is recommended to connect devices. Keep power-limited circuits separate from
    non power-limited wiring (120vac).
  7. Move the slide switch S1 to the ON position (Fig. 3, pg. 4).
Note: All LEDs on the output board will illuminate green when power is present (Fig. 6, pg. 4).
  8. Recheck the output voltage to confirm that the connected devices have not caused the level to drop. If required, adjust the output voltage to 24vdc using the trim potentiometer SVR1 (Fig. 4, pg. 4).
  9. Once wiring is complete, secure the enclosure door with the supplied screws (Fig. 9, pg. 6).
  10. The power cord plug MUST be secured to the receptacle using the included Power Cord Plug Bracket Assembly (Fig. 10, pg. 6).

Wiring Diagram

Note:
A three-prong plug is included with the 2500-PWR24U.

Note:
The 2500-PWR24U is enabled with DC Fail Supervision using contact closures which indicate loss of DC power. Example: The contact closures can be connected to an annunciator alarm panel (Fig. 7, pg. 4). The relay is normally energized when DC power is present. Loss of DC power will trip the annunciator alarm panel.

Maintenance

Under normal conditions, the 2500-PWR24U should be checked for proper operation annually. It is recommended to check the output voltage and verify that 24vdc is present under normal load conditions. It is also recommended to check the current draw to ensure that the current is within specifications.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause & Solutions
Green power LEDs are not illuminated:
  • Verify the power switch S1 on the Distribution Board is set to “ON” (Fig. 3, pg. 4).
  • Verify the 2500-PWR24U is connected to a good 120vac power source.
Device does not have power:
  • Verify the green LEDs are illumninated on the 2500-PWR24U (Fig. 2 and 6, pg. 4).
  • Verify that each output on the 2500-PWR24U is producing 24vdc.

Installation & Operation Manual Alarm Board Wiring- SmartPhone VI

Installation Instructions:

  • Run one set of wires (22-24ga shielded recommended) from the screw terminals labeled ALARM on the RATH® SmartPhone to any of the paired sets of terminals labeled TB2 or TB3 on the Junction Board. Up to 10 phones can be connected to a single Junction Board. The Junction Board can be mounted in the machine room or by the Alarm Board at the landing panel.
Note: Do not provide a connection to the SmartPhone alarm terminal that has voltage on it.
  • Connect 24vdc to the terminal labeled Power on the Junction Board. The terminals are not polarity sensitive.
  • Run a set of wires (22-24ga shielded recommended) from the screw terminals labeled Alarm on the Junction Board to the screw terminals labeled TB1 on the Alarm Board.
  • Connect the LED wires to the screw terminals labeled TB2 on the Alarm Board (Connection 1 is Negative, Connection 2 is Positive).
  • If connecting an external key switch, connect the wires from the key switch to the screw terminals labeled TB3 on the Alarm Board. The key switch should be set to Normally Open.

Testing:

  • Disconnect the phone line from the RATH® SmartPhone. The alarm will sound within 13-14 minutes (once the test is done you can then program the phone to check the line at a longer interval up to 23 hours or leave it at 10 minutes). Otherwise, you can disconnect the phone line from the SmartPhone and press the phone push button. This will sound the alarm in 3-4 minutes.
  • In an alarm state, the LED will flash and the piezo will sound. There are three ways to reset the alarm status:
    1. Press the Reset Button located on the Alarm Board. This will temporarily turn off the piezo buzzer (it will resound within 24 hours unless the phone line is restored).
    2. If an external key switch is connected to the Alarm Board, turn the key switch. This will temporarily turn off the piezo buzzer (it will resound within 24 hours unless the phone line is restored).
    3. To turn off the LED and the piezo buzzer, reconnect an active phone line. The phone will reset the Alarm Board after a few seconds.

Troubleshooting:

  • To test the LED and the piezo on the Alarm Board, and to make sure it is properly connected to the Junction Board, press the button labeled PB1 on the Junction Board. This should cause the LED to flash and the piezo buzzer to sound.
  • If the alarm is always going off on the phone, verify that the line check on the SmartPhone is turned on by pressing Enter, 23 Enter 3, 23 Enter 7284, 11 Enter 1.
  • Verify Alarm Terminals on SmartPhone show NO when a phone line is connected, and closed when the phone line is pulled from the phone and it is in an alarm state. · If the LED on the Alarm Board is blinking but piezo is not sounding, verify the key switch is not set to Normally Closed instead of Normally Open.
