FAQS

Do Swann cameras record all the time?

The DVR can record continuously from all 4 channels for eight days at a time, and stores the recorded footage onto a pre-installed 1TB hard drive. Footage can also be transferred to external storage using the USB port or RJ45 Ethernet connection.

Can you mix and match Swann cameras?

So even if you have older analog CCTV, Swann cameras, or two mega pixel, three mega pixel, even all the way up to 4k resolution Swann BNC cameras, our Viewtron hybrid DVRs works with all of them. You can even mix and match on different channels, different formats and different resolutions.

Do Swann cameras work without Internet?

Swann security cameras require an internet connection. The company’s wired cameras use a cable to transmit an internet connection, while the wireless cameras connect wirelessly.

Does Swann charge a monthly fee?

No, you won’t have to pay any monthly fees with Swann. The company sells devices only, so there’s no professional monitoring or cellular backup available. If you’re worried about your cameras going off in a power outage, Swann has a number of wireless options that are dependent on batteries.

How long do Swann security cameras last?

The Wire-Free Security Camera only works on the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band and needs to be within 20m of the router or access point. The 6,000mAh rechargeable battery should last for around 8-10 weeks before needing recharged. It takes about six hours to recharge via the supplied microUSB cable.

How long do security cameras keep footage?

In general, most security camera footage is kept for 30 to 90 days (1 to 3 months the most). There isn’t really a standard answer to the question “how long does the average security camera store footage?” because each site and each security set up is different.

How do I set up my camera?

It’s easy! Just plug the camera into a power outlet and connect it to your home network. Then download the free SwannView app on your iOS or Android device and follow the simple step-by-step instructions.

How do I view my camera?

The free SwannView app is available for iOS and Android devices. Simply download the app, sign in with your email address and password, then follow the step-by-step instructions to get started.

What is the resolution of this camera?

This camera features 2.1 Megapixels of resolution for stunningly clear images.

What are the dimensions of this camera?

The dimensions of this camera are 4.8″ x 4.8″ x 3.3″.

How much does this camera weigh?

This camera weighs 1 lb.

What is this product’s warranty?

This product comes with a one year warranty that covers parts and labor.

What is difference between NVR and DVR?

A DVR converts analog footage into a digital format, while an NVR typically only works with digital footage. DVR systems process data at the recorder, while NVR systems encode and process data at the camera before transmitting it to the recorder for storage and remote viewing.

Are Swann cameras Hikvision?

When it comes to smart motion detection, Swann and Hikvision Cameras mostly offer similar functionality . The only difference is that Hikvision products support targeted searches, allowing videos to be sorted into human and vehicle categories to improve search efficiency.

Is it better to have wired or wireless security cameras?

Wireless signals don’t extend very far – 300 feet at most without a wall or anything else to block the signal. A wired system will provide a more reliable signal. Additionally, the video quality will always remain consistent as it won’t be susceptible to bandwidth fluctuations.

How much data do security cameras use monthly?

Your Wi-Fi-enabled security camera system can consume up to 400 GB of data each month. This number depends on camera resolution, the number of cameras, the frames-per-second capture rate, and whether you’re using a network video recorder to distribute the data.

Do Swann Security cameras require a subscription?

Most of Swann’s cameras don’t require a monthly fee. However, premium features like extended cloud service will require a monthly subscription.

Are Swann CCTV any good?

We think Swann’s best asset is their variety of solid, reliable wired camera systems. Getting wired cameras means you’re getting a stable, almost flawless connection that’s not susceptible to interference, and Swann ranks among the best wired camera brands for just that reason.
