  2. Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by, on, or near children or individuals with certain disabilities.
Unsupervised use could result in fire or personal injury.
  3. Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
  4. Never operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Do not attempt to repair the appliance. Incorrect reassembly or repair could cause a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons when the appliance is used. Return the appliance to an authorized service center for examination and repair.
  5. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
Do not allow the cord to contact heated surfaces.
Do not pull or twist the cord. Let the appliance cool completely before putting it away. Loop cord loosely around the appliance when storing.
  6. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
  7. Never drop or insert any object into any opening.
  8. Do not use outdoors or operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR STEAMER

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Plug the unit into the electrical outlet.
  2. The power light will light up (red). Allow one or two minutes for the unit to warm up. The appliance is ready to use when the ready light goes on  (green).
  3. Holding the steam jets away from you and anyone else in the room, engage the trigger. Steam should now be released from the steam jets. To have continuous steam, just move the switch down so you will have continuous steam without having to hold the trigger. Always have steam facing away from you or anyone in the room.
  4. When first using the device, test on an old cloth, as there may be sediment left from the manufacturing process or transportation.
  5. On the back of the steamer, there is a sliding switch for high and low settings. High is for heavier and badly wrinkled fabric and provides faster, hotter,  less visible steam. The low setting should be used for delicate fabrics like silk, in combination with a soft cushion brush attachment. To stop the flow of steam, release the trigger or lower the switch.
  6. Unplug the device when it is not in use.

STEAMING TIPS

  1. To prepare your fabric for steaming, brush it with the soft cushion brush attachment. This will loosen the fibers and allow better steam penetration.
  2. Hang your garment or fabric.
  3. Pass the steam jets just above the fabric where the wrinkles are. It may take a few passes to remove the wrinkles completely.
  4. After use, unplug the steamer and empty any remaining water from the tank to avoid leakage.
  5. CAUTION: When hanging garment on a door while steaming, be careful not to damage the door with steam

GETTING STARTED

The secret to Curl Secret® 2.0 is how easy it makes creating the perfect curl – a tight spiral, a big, loose curl, even a relaxed wave – one after another! Hair goes in, curl comes out. It’s that simple. First, decide what type of curl you’d like – spirals or tighter curls, which can be shaped into a vintage chic style, or bigger curls or relaxed waves, which are beautiful on their own, and can be tousled into a natural, “undone” look. For spirals or tighter curls, choose the smaller, 1-inch attachment, the high heat setting and the 12- or 14-second timer setting. For a looser curl or wave, we recommend the larger 1¼-inch attachment, the low setting and the 8- or 10-second timer setting. As you use this innovative, new styler, you’ll discover the settings that let you best create the curls you want.

  • Always change or remove attachments before plugging the appliance in and switching it on.
  • To remove the attachment, press the two buttons on the two sides of the attachment at the same time, using your thumb and index finger.
  • To position the attachment, place it onto the appliance head until it clicks in.
  • Plug in the appliance, switch on, and select the desired temperature using the OFF/LOW/HIGH switch. See table below:
Temperature 1¼ inch Temperature 1 inch Hair type
LOW: 374°F LOW: 410°F Fine, bleached, and/or damaged hair
HIGH: 410°F HIGH: 450°F Normal hair, thick and wavy, or dyed
  • The indicator light comes on and will start to flash.
  • The indicator light will stop flashing when the appliance has heated up to the selected temperature. The appliance is now ready to use; the indicator light will stay on.
  • Select the time setting, depending on the desired curl effect. For loose curls, select the minimum time setting. For tighter curls, select the maximum time setting. Please refer to the table below:
Time Audio beep indicator Curl effect
8 seconds (1¼ in.) 10 seconds (1 in.) 3 beeps (1¼ in.) 4 beeps (1 in.) Loose waves
10 seconds (1¼ in.) 12 seconds (1 in.) 4 beeps (1¼ in.) 5 beeps (1 in.) Soft curls
12 seconds (1¼ in.) 14 seconds (1 in.) 5 beeps (1¼ in.) 6 beeps (1 in.) Defined curls
  • Select the adjustment of the direction of the curl, according to the desired result:
    • For an even, more sophisticated style, adjust the appliance to the “L” (left) position, to create curls on the left side of the head. Then adjust the appliance to the “R” (right) position, to create curls on the right side of the head.
    • For a softer, more natural style, adjust the appliance to the “A” (automatic) position. This adjustment will create alternating curls, first in one direction and then the opposite.

WARNING: The styler’s titanium ceramic-coated curl chamber will get very hot within a few seconds and should not be placed in contact with the skin after the styler has been turned
on.

TO CURL HAIR

Hair should be clean, completely dry and combed before you use the curling device.

  1. Begin by carefully combing through hair to smooth it. Then take a ½-in. to 1-in. section (Fig. A).
  2. Please note the styler must be positioned into the hair with the opening of the curl chamber facing toward the head (Fig. B).
  3. Position the styler where you want the curl to start. The hair section must be straight, and placed neatly through the center of the hair guide
    (Fig. C and D).

  4. Once the hair is in place, let go of the hair section and close the handle to allow the hair to be automatically taken into the curl chamber (Fig. E).
  5. Open the Curl Secret® 2.0 and gently pull it away from the head to release a perfect curl (Fig. F)!

Let it cool in place for a minute to set the curl. Quick heat-up and recovery, and Curl Secret® 2.0’s fully automatic curling technology let you make consistently perfect curls – one after another – effortlessly! It’s a revolutionary new way to curl your hair. Fast, easy, and always perfect, curl after curl
  • The hair is automatically drawn into the ceramic curl chamber, where it is softly held and heated from all directions to effortlessly form the curl.
  • If you are using the timer setting, the automatic beep indicator will start as soon as the handles are closed together. There will be a series of individual beeps. Hold the styler still, with the handles held together, until the end of the individual beeps. The amount of beeps will depend on the chosen timer setting. This indicates that the time is up and you can remove the styler from your hair.

NOTE:
Always release the handles first to set the curl free; if you pull away before you open the handles, the curl will be straightened out.
• To allow the curl to set, do not comb or brush the hair until it cools.
• Repeat around the head until you have the amount of curls desired.
NOTE:
Do not use this styling appliance on hair extensions.

ADDED FEATURES

Curl Secret® 2.0 comes with 4 functions for added safety and energy savings:
Anti-Tangle Feature: Curl Secret® 2.0 is safe and easy to use when used properly. However, should improper use occur, the anti-tangle feature has been designed to immediately stop drawing the hair in and will reverse to a neutral position. Simply open the handles and ease hair out of the curl chamber.
Auto Shut-Off: If the appliance is switched on for more than 60 minutes continuously, it will automatically switch off. If you wish to continue using the appliance, simply slide the switch to the OFF position and then slide the switch to the relevant setting to turn the power on.
Sleep Mode: Energy efficient – after 20 minutes of idle time, temperature drops to around 150˚C/300˚F.
Motion Sensor: Ends sleep mode and reheats to selected temperature when handle is closed.
NOTE: Curl chamber will be hot to the touch.
NOTE: Curl Secret® 2.0’s new brushless motor technology uses magnets instead of brushes to sense any change in speed, and turns itself off as an added safety feature and to ensure tangle-free curling action. Minimizes weight, maximizes curl control, and significantly extends the life of your appliance.
NOTE: If you continue to hold the hair section after closing the handle, Curl Secret® 2.0 will stop and beep to indicate that you must release the tension on the hair. If you have taken too much hair, or hair is not neatly going through the center of the appliance, the Curl Secret® 2.0 will again stop and beep to indicate a problem. This safety feature ensures there will be no tangles.

MOST IMPORTANT: If hair does get tangled, unplug the unit and gently work the hair out of the unit. Take very small strands, one at a time, and slowly remove from the chamber. If hair is tight around the barrel, carefully and gently loosen up hair outside of the tool with your fingers, removing small sections at a time. Make sure fingers do not come in contact with heated chamber.

GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CURL SECRET

Effortlessly create long-lasting, beautiful curls. Hair is automatically drawn into the titanium ceramic Curl chamber where it is softly held and heated from all directions to effortlessly form the curl. Then, simply release. The result is beautiful, free-flowing curls.

Features:
  • 1-in. and 1¼-in. interchangeable chambers
  • 3 curl directions/6 timer settings
  • Brushless motor for precision styling and longer life
  • Auto beep indicator
  • Ion generator
  • Safety tangle feature
  • 30-second instant heat
  • Sleep mode
  • Motion sensor
  • Auto off

IONIC TECHNOLOGY

Many aspects of modern living, including air conditioning, contact with man-made fibers and air pollution, contribute to a buildup of static electricity in the hair. Even brushing and towel-drying the hair can increase these levels, causing the surface of the cuticle to become rough. Consequently, hair may have a dull appearance. Also, high levels of static charge cause hair to become flyaway and difficult to style.
The ion generator produces a stream of negative ions that act to neutralize the static charge, smoothing the scales on the cuticle for shiny, smooth and manageable hair, so you can achieve your desired style easily.

NOTE: The unit may produce a clicking sound at times, which is normal for a high-output ion generator.

THE NEW TITANIUM CERAMIC EASY-GLIDE STYLER

The Curl Secret® 2.0 has a titanium ceramic, easy-glide, coated surface, the newest technology. This means it’s not only simpler to clean off styling product residue, etc., after each use, but you’ll find that hair glides easily over the coated surface of the curl chamber as you’re curling. The titanium ceramic-coated surface also helps smooth down flyaway and frizzes.
It evenly distributes heat so that the style you create has a salon-perfect, silky smooth, shining finish. Hair also slips right through the curl chamber after it’s curled.
The new Titanium Ceramic™ technology makes styling your hair easier and the results more professional.
Never leave your style on and unattended. However, should you fail to turn the style off, it will shut itself off automatically within 60 minutes.

USING INSTANT HEAT, THE 2 HIGH HEAT TEMPERATURE SETTINGS & UNIFORM HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM

This styler features a high-performance heater that maintains constant temperature during use for precision styling. This Instant Heat technology has two high heat temperature settings. There is a temperature that’s gentle and safe for every type of hair, from the finest to the curliest and most resistant, and helps you create the look you want. And that’s not all. Conair’s professional salon standards of engineering provide you with a uniform and improved heat recovery system that maintains the styler at constant temperatures. There is a constant surge of power to ensure that heat is continuously and quickly delivered for optimal styling results, unlike other units, which lose heat during use.
This provides consistent styling power so that every strand of your hair is set with the same level of heat and comes out the same way for a perfect finish.
Curl Secret® 2.0 is energy efficient. The sleep mode function drops the styler’s temperature to 300°F
if styler remains idle after 20 minutes. And auto shut-off turns the Curl Secret® 2.0 off after 60 minutes.

IMPORTANT

A heat-protective glove has been supplied to help protect your hand from temporary contact with the styler.
Please note that the heat-protective glove is only designed to give initial contact protection. Discomfort will be caused by prolonged contact with the hot surface.

USER MAINTENANCE

Your styler is virtually maintenance free. No lubrication is needed. Keep all vents and openings clear of dirt and dust. If cleaning becomes necessary, disconnect the unit from the power source, allow to cool and wipe exterior with a cloth. If any abnormal condition occurs, unplug the unit, allow it to cool, and return it for repair to an authorized service representative only. No repairs should be attempted by the consumer.

CAUTION

NEVER allow the power supply cord to be pulled, twisted, or severely bent. Never wrap the cord tightly around the appliance. Damage will occur at the high flex point of entry into the appliance, causing it to rupture and short circuit. Inspect the cord frequently for damage. Stop use immediately if damage is visible or if unit stops or operates intermittently.

STORAGE

When not in use, your appliance is easy to store. Allow appliance to cool, then simply store out of reach of children in a safe, dry location. Do not jerk or strain cord at plug connections. Do not wrap the line cord around the appliance. Allow the cord to hang or lie loose and straight at the point of entry into the appliance.

WARNING: IF YOU THINK THE POWER IS OFF WHEN THE SWITCH IS OFF, YOU’RE WRONG

KEEP AWAY FROM WATER

Everyone knows that electricity and water are a dangerous combination. But did you know that an electric appliance is still electrically live even if the switch is off? If the plug is in, the power is on. So when you are not using your appliances, keep them unplugged.

Scales by

Instructions for use of Weight Watchers bathroom scale
Model #WW39

Congratulations! By purchasing this Weight Watchers Scale, you’ve made the first step toward taking control of your weight. To get the greatest benefit from your purchase, please read this entire brochure before using your scale.

Before Using Scale

  1. Set switch on the base of scale to measure in kg (kilograms) or lb (pounds).
  2. Set scale on the floor. The surface must be level for accurate operation and safety.

Weighing In

  1. Set “LB/KG” switch for either pound or kilogram readings.
  2. Quickly and firmly tap the center of scale platform with the foot to activate the large digital display.
  3. When “00.0” appears in the display window, step onto the scale.
DO NOT STEP ONTO SCALE UNTIL “00.0” APPEARS IN THE WINDOW.
  4. Stand on the platform without shifting or moving until weight is displayed.

NOTE: Digital display automatically turns off after several seconds.

Facts You Should Know

Your Weight Watchers®’ scale is a precise measuring instrument that is most accurate when weighing a stationary object. To ensure the most accurate readings, always try to stand on the same area of the scale platform and DO NOT MOVE.
Should the weight on the scale exceed the scale’s capacity, you may see an error message “ERR”.
Electronic sensors are sensitive. Be careful not to drop or jar the scale. Place it gently onto the floor surface, and store it where it will be protected from impact. The scale is an electronic instrument and should never be submerged in water. Clean with a damp cloth and/or glass cleaner.
In the unlikely event that the scale batteries malfunction and need to be replaced, lift the battery cover on the bottom of the scale and replace the old batteries with two new 3V Lithium batteries (CR2032). Insert both batteries with the “+” side up, one on top of the other.
Do not attempt to open the scale or remove any components. Servicing should be done by qualified technicians only.
See warranty information below.
Important Information Concerning Weight Management
Your scale is the best tool for monitoring weight. While not the only measure of weight loss, scales are the most popular method used to gauge weight-loss success. A scale measures the sum of your total body weight, which includes bone, muscle, fat, and water.
Bodyweight fluctuates during the day, and from day to day, depending on a variety of factors.

  • Salt and carbohydrate intake can affect the body’s water retention.
  • A large meal adds weight and can cause water retention.
  • Dehydration from exercise, illness or low fluid intake can result in weight loss.
  • Muscle is also a factor. Heavy-duty resistance training can build muscle, which can affect weight.
  • The menstrual cycle can cause temporary weight gains and losses.

When You’re Losing Weight
It’s important not to put too much stock in the exact number on the scale, because it can and will vary. This is especially true when you’re dieting. Small weight gains and
losses are common as your body adjusts to fewer calories and more exercise.
Your scale is a valuable tool when used to track weight over a period of weeks and months. Be aware that different scales often give different results. The scale at your
doctor’s office may show one weight and your scale at home another.
So don’t get too caught up with a single number.
Don’t Overdo It!
A surefire way to get overly concerned with your weight is to weigh yourself too often.
Weigh yourself no more than once a week when you’re dieting. Though it’s hard to stick to this pattern, it’s the best way to prevent unnecessary concern with normal weight fluctuations, which are unrelated to your weight-loss efforts. Regardless of your weighing habits, it’s important that you’re consistent.
Here are 5 rules for effectively monitoring your weight – weigh yourself:

  • Once a week, on the same day of the week
  • At the same time of day
  • In the same place
  • Wearing the same clothes
  • Using the same scale

To keep track of your weight, record only one number for the week. This will give you a clear picture of any trend your weight is following.
When You’re Maintaining Weight
Fluctuations in day-to-day weight tend to be smaller when weight is stable, so a more frequent weigh-in pattern is helpful.
To maintain a stable weight:

  • Weigh yourself more often than once a week.
  • Use the “5-pound rule” – research shows that people who keep weight within a 5-pound range are more likely to maintain healthy body weight over the long term.

While a scale can be a useful tool on your weight-loss journey, it’s not in and of itself a program for losing weight. Studies show that people lose three times more weight on Weight Watchers than they do on their own*.
Come to a meeting and learn from us the best way to lose and maintain weight.
Call 1-800-651-6000 or go to WeightWatchers.com to find a meeting near you.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

How to operate your hairsetter with heated clips:

  1. Place hairsetter on a firm, flat surface. With the lid closed, plug the cord into the outlet. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
  2. Once plugged in, the red light will go on and the rollers will heat up quickly.
Rollers are ready to use when the ready dot on the roller turns transparent white. (Please refer to HOW TO CURL YOUR HAIR for further instruction.)
  3. Allow rollers and clips to heat with the lid closed, as this will provide the fastest, most efficient heat-up. Once the rollers reach your desired temperature, you can begin setting your hair.
  4. Hair should be clean and dry or slightly damp – never wet – when setting. For tighter curls, allow rollers to heat longer at a higher temperature.
  5. Never leave your hairsetter on and unattended. Always unplug the hairsetter when not in use. Allow the hairsetter to cool down after use, and store in a safe place.

USER MAINTENANCE

Your hairsetter is designed for household use and is virtually maintenance-free. This product represents the highest standards of workmanship and engineering research. If cleaning becomes necessary, disconnect the appliance from the power source. Allow the setter to cool. Clean the unit and the heating rails with a cloth. (Occasionally you may want to clean your rollers. Use a damp cloth and mild detergent or soap.) If any abnormal condition occurs, unplug the hairsetter, allow it to cool, and return it to an authorized service representative for repair.
STORAGE
Allow hairsetter to cool. Handle cord carefully to prolong its life; avoid jerking or straining at plug connections. Store hairsetter out of reach of children in a safe, dry location.

HOW TO CURL YOUR HAIR

  1. Place ends of the hair on roller and wind toward the scalp. Roll up hair firmly remove the clip from the heated rail and secure over the roller. Place another clip on an aluminum rail for heat-up. Continue to add clips to the heating rail as rollers are added to the hair.
  2. The firmness of the curl is regulated by the diameter of the roller and the length of time the roller is left in your hair.
  3. For tight, firm curls, use smaller rollers and leave them in the hair for at least ten minutes before removing them. For soft, wavy curls, use larger rollers and remove rollers after a shorter period of time.
  4. Removing roller: Hold roller in one hand while removing heated clip with the other. Gently drop roller (DO NOT PULL) and let curl bounce back after roller has been completely removed. Let cool for one minute for a firmly set curl, and then style your hair into a look that lasts for hours.

IMPORTANT: After using the hairsetter several times, you will find the best roller selection and the best timing for the texture of your hair and for the result you desire.

MEDIUM ROLLERS
Use on short hair to create a fullness and tight curl. Tight curls can be used at the nape of the neck and to frame your face.

LARGE ROLLERS
Use medium to long hair to create a looser curl that’s bouncy and full of body.

JUMBO ROLLERS
Use medium to long hair to create the smooth sleek lines of softer, sophisticated hairstyles.

  1. Always unplug the appliance immediately after using.
  2. Do not place or store appliances where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.
  3. Do not place in, or drop into water or other liquids.
  4. If an appliance falls into water, unplug it immediately. Do not reach into the water.

WARNING – To reduce the risk of burns, electrocution, fire, or injury to persons:

  1. This appliance should never be left unattended when plugged in.
  2. This appliance should not be used by, on, or near children or individuals with certain disabilities.
  6. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
  7. Never drop or insert any object into any opening or hose.
  8. Do not use utdoors or operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.
  9. Do not use an extension cord to operate the appliance.

  12. Unplug this appliance before filling or emptying. Do not  verfill.
  13. While emitting steam, this appliance may cause burns if it is used too close to the skin, scalp or eyes, or if it is used incorrectly. To reduce the risk of contact with hot water discharging from steam vents, test the appliance before each use by holding it away from body.
  14. Do not operate the steamer without properly filling the water tank.
  15. Always keep the hose and nozzle elevated above the water tank.
  16. Never yank cord to disconnect from outlet. Instead, grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY

UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS

Place the box on a large, sturdy flat surface. Carefully remove the appliance from the packing material. Keep all plastic bags away from children.
STEAMER

ASSEMBLY

STEP 1 – Attaching the Telescopic  Pole and Rotating Hanger
Insert the bottom of the larger metal telescopic pole into the holder on the unit base and screw the set screw until tight. (Caution: Do not over-tighten.)
Then attach pieces as shown in Fig. 1.

STEP 2 – Attaching the Steamer Hose
Be sure the unit is off. Insert the angled end of the hose into steamer housing and twist clockwise to securely lock the hose onto the housing. (Be sure both connections at ends of hose are correct before operating appliance.)
Extend the telescopic pole and hang the steam nozzle from the rotating handle. The hose may be stiff upon removal from the box.
Hose will relax after initial use. The handle will sit properly on pole support once the hose is relaxed. (Fig. 4)
TURNING THE STEAMER ON
The steamer has three settings:

The pause feature allows you to stop the unit from steam if you need to step away from the unit for a while, without actually turning the steamer off.
USING ROTATING HANGER
This unit comes with a rotating hanger. To use the hanger, simply place it on top of the pole firmly (Fig. 1). It is now in place to rotate 360˚. Hang your garment and steam away wrinkles. Turn as you wish.

USING PANT CLIP SYSTEM
This fabric steamer is equipped with a pant clip system for holding pants taut for faster and more effective steaming. The bottom clips can be adjusted by loosening the knob (on the telescopic pole) and moving the pole up and down, depending upon the length of the pants (see Fig. 2). Clip pants as shown in Fig. 3 and steam. Please note some pants may be too long to use the bottom clips. If that is the case, just simply use the top clips and let your pants hang freely.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE FILLING THE WATER TANK
Turn the water tank upside down and inspect to make sure the valve and spring assembly are functioning. Place the tank in the reservoir and check that it is seated
securely. If the tank has been stored with water inside, it may be necessary to remove the water and clean the tank. Follow the steps for care and cleaning.
FILLING THE WATER TANK
(PRIOR TO PLUGGING IN THE APPLIANCE)
Remove the water tank with the handle and turn it upside down. Unscrew the valve in the center of the base. Fill the tank by holding it under a source of running cold water until it is filled to the desired level. Do not overfill. Screw the valve cap onto the water tank and return the tank to the upright position. Place the water tank onto the base and make certain it is seated properly in the reservoir. DO NOT FILL THE TANK WITH HOT WATER.

OPERATING THE STEAMER

  1. Make sure the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Make sure all hose connections are secure and tight.
  3.  Make sure the telescopic pole is fully extended and the hose is not twisted or kinked.
  4. Plug the steamer cord into a normal electrical outlet.
  5.  Turn the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
  6.  The switch will light to indicate when power is on.
  7.  Steam will be produced from the nozzle in about one minute.
  8. To turn the steamer off, turn the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position.

GETTING TO KNOW

CLEANING AND STORING

  1. Turn the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position and unplug from the power source.
  2. Wait for the steamer to cool completely for at least 30 minutes.
  3.  Unplug the power cord and retract it into the housing.
  4. Remove the steamer hose.
  5.  Remove the water tank from the unit, unscrew the valve, and empty unused contents. Allow airing to dry.
  6. Remove excess water from the reservoir by unscrewing the plug on the bottom of the steamer and letting the water drain out.
  7.  Collapse telescopic hanger rod.
  8.  Replace the water tank.
  9. Store the unit.

CAUTION: Hose will be hot when in use. Avoid prolonged contact.

OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES

During operation, the steamer hose may gurgle. This is a normal result of condensation collecting inside the hose. Simply lift the handle upward until the hose is
extended to its full height. The gurgling will disappear when the excess moisture inside the hose has had a chance to drain back  into the base.

DECALCIFICATION

If the appliance begins to produce steam more slowly than usual or stops producing steam and then starts again, you may need to decalcify your steamer. Decalcification refers to removing the calcium deposits that form overtime on the metal parts of the steamer. For best performance from the Conair ® Ultimate Fabric Steamer, decalcify the unit from time to time. The frequency depends upon the hardness of your tap water and how often you use the steamer.
To decalcify, use a solution of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water in the water tank. Replace the water tank in the unit. Plug the unit into an electrical outlet. Turn to the
ON position and run until half the amount has steamed (1 liter). Turn the unit to the OFF position, unplug from the electrical outlet, and allow to sit for 30 minutes. Remove the water tank.
Remove excess water from the reservoir by unscrewing the plug at the bottom of the steamer and holding it over the sink, allowing the water to drain from the
internal reservoir.
Repeat the above procedure as many times as necessary until a normal steam rate returns, usually 2–3 times. With each repeated cycle, use a fresh solution of vinegar and water. Run one cycle of fresh, cold water through the unit at the completion of decalcification before using the unit again to steam garments.

HOW TO STEAM

Grasp the handle of the steam nozzle with the steam jets facing away from you. Begin at the bottom of the fabric to allow the steam to rise inside and outside, removing wrinkles. Slowly move the nozzle from the bottom to the top of the fabric. Remove the nozzle from the garment and smooth the fabric with your free hand. Some fabrics are best steamed on the underside of the material. This will allow the fibers of the fabric to relax, eliminating wrinkles.
NOTE: Test fabric for colorfastness in an inconspicuous spot. Drape linens, towels, handkerchiefs, and napkins over a rod or place on a towel rack.
Heavier fabrics may require repeated steaming. Repeat as necessary.
With practice, you will gain speed and efficiency. You will soon learn which fabrics require multiple steam applications.
Do not directly touch velvet or silk with the steam head.

Always steam with the hose in an upright position, so any condensation is free to flow back into the steamer.
If you steam in a low position, condensation will collect inside the hose. This will cause gurgling and some water droplets to form near the steam jets on the handle. To avoid this, frequently lift the steam handle upward until the hose is extended to its full height.
TO STEAM DRAPES
Wash and dry drapes as directed, according
to fabric type. Rehang drapes and steam
when they are in place.

  11. Do not use an extension cord to operate the appliance.
  12. The surfaces of this appliance are hot when in use. Do not let heated surfaces touch eyes or skin.
  13. Do not place the steam nozzle directly on any surface or on the appliance power cord while it is hot or plugged in.
  14. Unplug this appliance before filling or emptying the water.
  15. Do not operate the steamer without properly filling the water container with distilled water.
  16. Never yank cord to disconnect from outlet; instead, grasp plug and pull to disconnect.
  17. Burns could occur from touching hot parts, hot water, or steam. Use care when removing the water reservoir or when you turn a steam appliance upside down – there may
be hot water in the reservoir. Always position steamer with head away from you and any other person when turning on.
  18. Do not hold hand in front of steam.
  19. To reduce the likelihood of circuit overload, do not operate another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit.
  20. Use caution when installing or removing an attachment as it may contain hot water from condensation. Ensure that the unit is off, attachment is dry or cooled off to avoid
    contact with hot water.
  21. Never steam clothes you, or someone else is wearing.
  22. When emitting steam, this appliance may cause burns if it is used too close to the skin or eyes, or if it is used incorrectly. To reduce the risk of contact with hot water emitting from the steam vents, test the appliance before use by holding it away from the body.

IMPORTANT

FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY

FILLING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Make sure the unit is unplugged.
  2. Stand the unit on a table and grasp with one hand.
  3. On other hand, move the release switch up toward the steam head nozzle.
  4. Pull the reservoir out, away from the steamer body.
  5. The rubber inlet cover is located on the top of the water reservoir.
  6. Open the inlet cover and fill the reservoir with distilled water (which can be found in grocery stores). We recommend that you use distilled water only as this will prevent
mineral deposits in the boiler that can reduce the performance or clog the water system.
  7. Close the inlet cover and return the reservoir to its place, making sure that it snaps in place and is secure.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Fill the water reservoir with distilled water. We recommend that you use distilled water only, as this will prevent mineral deposits in the boiler that can reduce performance or clog the water system.
  2. Plug the unit into the electrical outlet.
  3. The blue READY light will illuminate and begin blinking. Allow 40 seconds for the unit to warm up. The appliance is ready to use when the READY light stops blinking and remains solid. Note: Before the first use or when the unit has not been used for a long period of time, it will be necessary to prime (i.e., fill with water) the internal tank while the steamer prepares to steam. You may hear a small tapping noise during the heat-up process; this is normal.
  4. Your steamer has 2 options for steam, regular Steam, and Turbo. Use the Steam setting (blue button) for delicate fabrics or freshening lightly wrinkled garments. Use the Turbo setting (red button) for thicker fabrics and heavily wrinkled articles.
  5. Pointing the steam jets away from you, and anyone else in the room, press either the blue Steam button or the red Turbo button to release steam. Always have steam facing away from you or anyone in the room.
  6. When first using the device, test on an old cloth, as there may be sediment left from the manufacturing process or transportation.
  7. To stop the flow of steam, depress the button(s) that you have turned on, either the red, blue, or both.
  8. Unplug the device when it is not in use.

USING CREASER

This garment steamer has a built-in creaser on the top of the unit. To use, slide the garment under the clip and align the edge with the pattern as marked on the creaser. Press the Steam button and steam will issue from the port on the top of the unit. Slide the steamer along the edge of the garment to create a sharp crease.

Note: Steam will continue to emit from the steam slot on the front of the unit during creaser use!

USING 3-IN-1 ATTACHMENT

With the garment steamer off and cool, snap the silicone brush attachment over the steam head ensuring it is firmly affixed. At this point, the silicone brush can be used or you can choose to affix either the Bristle Brush or Delicate Fabric Guide inserts into the channel on the top of the silicone Brush attachment as desired. Note, only one function of the 3-In-1 attachment can be used at a time

CAUTION: Use extreme care when changing the attachments after the unit has been in use as the steam head will continue to be hot.

STEAMING TIPS

  1. First test unit on an inconspicuous area of the item to be steamed using the regular Steam setting to ensure fabric can tolerate the effects of steam. If there is no evidence of damage, you can proceed to use the steamer on that item.
  2. To prepare your fabric for steaming, brush it with the brush attachment. This will loosen the fibers and allow better steam penetration.
  3. Hang your garment or fabric. Note: Avoid using metal clothes hangers, if possible.
  4. Pass the steam jets just above the fabric where the wrinkles are. It may take a few passes to remove the wrinkles completely.
  5. For heavier fabrics or severely wrinkled fabrics, you may position the steamer head directly on the fabric for a few seconds to remove wrinkles. Be cautious when working
    with delicate fabrics.
  6. After use, turn the unit off by depressing the button(s) that you have turned on, either the red, blue, or both. Empty any remaining water from the tank to avoid leakage. With dry hands, unplug your garment steamer from the outlet.
BE SURE TO PRESS THE BUTTONS “OFF” PRIOR TO UNPLUGGING THE UNIT.
  7. CAUTION: If hanging a garment on a door while steaming, be careful not to damage the door with steam.
  8. When steaming, always keep the unit in motion. Do not continuously hold steamer over an area or touch steamer jets directly to fabric for more than a few seconds as this can cause damage, including shrinkage, melting, or color shift on certain types of material.
  9. In the case of heavier, durable fabrics such as wool coats or bedding, the Turbo setting and slower passes with the steamer may be necessary to achieve desired results. As always, start by testing on an inconspicuous area of the item to be steamed using the regular Steam setting to ensure fabric can tolerate the effects of steam, and adjust your technique as needed to obtain the results desired.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in the outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

Your new Conair® haircut kit has everything you need to achieve professional haircuts at home. It features a powerful clipper with cutting precision. Also included are 8 numbercoded comb attachments for different hair lengths (including left and right ear combs). It also comes with 2 styling clips to assist you in cutting longer hair styles, a storage case, barber comb, barber scissors, barber cape, cleaning brush, lubricating oil and a blade guard for easy maintenance of the clipper blades.

THE CONAIR GUIDE TO CUTTING HAIR AT HOME

Before you start:

  1. Inspect your clipper. Make sure it’s free of hair and dirt, properly oiled, and running smoothly.
  2. Place a towel or cape around the neck of the person whose hair is being cut.
  3. Seat the person so that his or her head is at your eye level. This gives you greater visibility and control.
  4. First, comb hair until it’s tangle-free. Then hold clipper in a comfortable grip. Now you’re ready to cut.
Please note your [number] cut™ 20-piece haircut kit comes with easy-to-use number-coded combs, so you can easily remember your favorite comb once you start to use the kit on a regular basis.
MEDIUM TO LONG CUT

To begin with, cut only a small amount of hair until you become used to the length each attachment leaves the hair. Try the longest attachment on the clipper first. If you want a shorter cut, you can then use shorter combs.

  • Short attachment comb (number 1) cuts hair to 1/8″.
  • Medium-Short attachment comb (number 2) cuts hair to 1/4″.
  • Medium-Long attachment comb (number 3) cuts hair to 3/8″.
  • Long attachment comb (number 4) cuts hair to 1/2″.
  • Long attachment comb (number 5) cuts hair to 5/8″.
  • Long attachment comb (number 6) cuts hair to 3/4″.
  • Long attachment comb (number 7) cuts hair to 7/8″.
  • Long attachment comb (number 8) cuts hair to 1″.
  • Left ear attachment comb lightly tapers over left ear.
  • Right ear attachment comb lightly tapers over right ear.

Attach combs by holding them teeth up, then snapping onto the bottom of the clipper blade.

To remove comb attachments, place index finger and thumb as illustrated; then pull out and up.

NOTE: Never push or shove the clipper through the hair to make it move more quickly. Professional experience shows that the clipper works most efficiently when it cuts through the hair at its own speed.

To begin cutting hair:

  1. The hair should be combed in its natural direction.
  2. Using the largest attachment comb, trim sides from the bottom upwards. Hold clipper lightly against the hair with teeth of the attachment comb pointing upward, yet flat against the head. Gradually lift the clipper upward and outward through the hair, trimming just a little at a time.

Repeat around sides and back of head.

If you want hair to be even shorter:

A) Apply more pressure to the head with the attachment comb that is in place. This takes a little practice, of course.

OR

B) Just switch to a shorter attachment comb. Remember, it’s better to leave too much hair than too little. For longer hair on top, use the barber comb and lift hair on the top of the head, cutting over the comb. Or, hold the hair between the fingers and cut to desired length. Always working from the front to the back of the head, gradually cut the hair shorter by reducing the space between the comb or fingers and the head. Comb often to check for uneven strands, and to get rid of trimmed hair.

OUTLINING:

Outlining requires no attachments. Comb hair into the desired style. Position the clipper between the sideburns and the ear (see above), making sure the corner edge of the blade is against the hairline. With the outline of the hair as your guide, slowly move the clipper over, around and behind the ears. For the back of the neck and the sideburns, hold the clipper upside down (see Fig. 1) and, holding it against the skin at the length desired, move the clipper downward.

STOP. COMB CHECK.

For best results, do as the professionals do: comb hair often, and check clipping results as you comb. This way you avoid uneven sides, bangs, neckline, etc.

SHORT CUTS TO PERFECT FLAT TOPS, CREW CUTS, ETC.

Always cut from the back of the neck to the crown, using the longest comb setting. Hold the comb attachment flat against the head and slowly move the clipper up through the hair. Use the same technique for the sides, cutting from the bottom to the upper side of the head.

For the front to the crown, cut the hair against the direction in which it grows. Then even it up with the sides.

For a flat top, use the flat comb, not the attachment comb. Just cut hair on top of the head over the flat comb (see Fig. 2).

To taper hair down to the neckline, use attachment comb #1. Comb hair and check for uneven spots. Outline sideburns and neck areas (see “Outlining”).

USER-MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS CARE OF YOUR CLIPPERS

MAINTENANCE OF THE BLADE

Always apply oil to the blades before, during and after use. This will ensure maximum cutting performance. Hold clipper away from your body in a downward position and apply oil on the front and sides of the cutter blade. Wipe excess oil off with a soft dry cloth.

Conair® hair clippers are carefully inspected to insure that the blades are in perfect alignment. You will need to realign the blades if they should be knocked out of alignment. How can you tell if the blades need realigning? Simply match them up, point for point, to conform with the drawing below.

To replace cutting comb and cutter after removal for cleaning, replacement or because they are out of alignment, slide the cutter back onto the black plastic oscillating head. Next, you must make sure that the cutter (small blade) and the cutting comb (large blade) are properly aligned. Line up the new or existing cutting comb with the two screw holes. Place the original screws, one in each hole, and lightly tighten with a Phillips head screwdriver.

Then, match the two blades up, point to point, conforming with the illustration below in Fig. 4.

* The top edge of the cutting comb should be 1/32″ to 1/16″ (.79 mm. to 1.59 mm.) higher than the top edge of the cutter. This is important so that the clipper does not cut too close or come in contact with the skin.
* The extreme left tooth of the cutting comb must cover or be to the extreme left of the first small tooth of the cutter.
* Be sure that the extreme right big tooth of the cutter touches the extreme right tooth of the cutting comb.

Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative or that the appliance has no user-serviceable parts. The product is for household use. Do not pull, twist, or wrap line cord around appliance.

SPECIAL OIL

To maintain the blades of your Conair® clipper, always apply oil to the blades before, during and after use. Gently place a few drops of oil on the teeth of the blades, using the special Conair® oil included with your set. Turn the clipper on for a minute, then turn off. This light, natural oil was formulated specifically for the Conair® high-speed clipper. Because it is the right oil to use, it will not slow down the blades. Never use any other product. There is no substitute for Conair oil.

POWER SCREW

The power screw permits you to adjust power to your clipper. You may need to make this adjustment if the power in your house is low. (The Conair® clipper was designed for household use.)

  1. With a screwdriver or a dime, turn the power screw counterclockwise until the arm strikes a coil, making a clacking noise (Fig.1).
  2. Turn the screw clockwise until the noise stops, and then turn about 45 degrees more. This is the maximum power setting (Fig. 2).
ADJUSTABLE TAPER LEVER

Just like professional clippers, the Conair taper lever is positioned at your thumb. You can hold the clipper in your hand and adjust the lever at the same time…while you’re clipping. This taper lever eliminates the need for an attachment comb because it lets you gradually adjust the closeness of the cut. For the closest cut and the shortest hair, push taper lever up as far as it will go. To increase cutting length, slowly push lever down. If you push to the lowest position, it will leave hair about the same length as the short attachment.

Because a different cutting edge is used in each setting, the taper lever lengthens the life of your blades.

Packed-in hair can slow down any clipper. To remove hair without removing the blades, use your cleaning brush to brush hair out of the blades. This should be done after each use. When blades are free of hair, apply a small amount of oil across them.

If you do this after every clipping, especially with heavy hair cutting, the blades should remain in good working condition. If clipper stops cutting and this action doesn’t help, check the blades. If they’ve become dull, replace them. For new blades, send check or money order for $6.50 (see order blank.) This price includes postage and handling, but $10.00 minimum must be met.

Conair Corporation 150 Milford Rd. East Windsor, NJ 08520

CAUTION: Never pull on the clipper cord. Never twist or wrap the cord around the clipper. Lay it flat with the cord coiled up when not in use.

WARNING: IF YOU THINK THE POWER IS OFF WHEN THE SWITCH IS OFF, YOU’RE WRONG.
KEEP AWAY FROM WATER

Everyone knows that electricity and water are a dangerous combination. But did you know that an electric appliance is still electrically alive even if the switch is off? If the plug is in, the power is on. So when you are not using your appliances, keep them unplugged.

ALWAYS UNPLUG SMALL APPLIANCES

CREASER ATTACHMENT – Creates a crease in pants, shirts, blouses and more.
DELICATES BONNET – protects trims and safely steam fine fabrics.

2-IN-1 ATTACHMENT Silicone Band – pulls fabric taut for better results.
Bristle Brush – ensures steam penetrates fibers for a perfect press, even on heavy fabrics.

USING ATTACHMENTS
With the garment steamer off and cool, snap the Silicone Band, creaser or delicates bonnet attachment over the steam head, ensuring it is firmly affixed. At this point, for the 2-in-1 attachment, the Silicone Band can be used or you can choose to affix either the Bristle Brush insert into the channel on the top of the Silicone Band attachment, as desired. NOTE: Only one function of the 2-In-1 attachment can be used at a time.

CAUTION: Use extreme care when changing the attachments after the unit has been in use, as the steam head will continue to be hot.

STEAMING TIPS

  1. First, test unit on an inconspicuous area of the item to be steamed using the lowest STEAM setting to ensure fabric can tolerate the effects of steam.
CAUTION: If hanging garment on a door while steaming, be careful not to damage the door with steam.
  4. Pass the steam jets just above the fabric where the wrinkles are. It may take a few passes to remove the wrinkles completely.
  5. For heavier fabrics or severely wrinkled fabrics, you may position the steamer head directly on the fabric for a few seconds to remove wrinkles. Be cautious when working with delicate fabrics.
  6. After use, turn unit off by depressing the STEAM button. Then press the ON/OFF button to the OFF position. With dry hands, unplug your garment steamer from the outlet. Empty any remaining water from the tank to avoid leakage. BE SURE TO PRESS THE ON/OFF BUTTON TO THE OFF POSITION PRIOR TO UNPLUGGING THE UNIT.
  7. When steaming, always keep the unit in motion. Do not continuously hold steamer over one area or touch steamer jets directly to fabric for more than a few seconds, as this can cause damage, including shrinkage, melting, or color shift on certain types of material.
  8. In the case of heavier, durable fabrics, such as wool coats or bedding, the TURBO setting and slower passes with the steamer may be necessary to achieve desired results. As always, start by testing on an inconspicuous area of the item to be steamed, using the regular steam setting to ensure fabric can tolerate the effects of steam, and adjust your technique as needed to obtain the results desired.
