Installation

Before You Start

• Consult a qualified technician for instructions. Dual always recommends professional installation.
• Disconnect negative battery terminal.
• Insert the removal keys. and remove the mounting sleeve from the head unit.

Installation Process

1. Carefully remove the existing head unit.
2. Connect wiring harness. Consult a qualified technician if you are unsure.
3. Mount the head unit using the mounting sleeve.
4. Connect wiring harness and antenna. Test the head unit for correct operation.
5. Slide the radio into the mounting sleeve to secure the radio.
6. Snap trim ring into place.

Wiring Connection

The chart below the connection for each wire in the wiring harness.

Tip: When a suitable ground wire is not present in the vehicle wiring harness. connect the black ground wire to the vehicle chassis.

Fuse: When replacing the fuse. make sure new fuse is the correct type and amperage. Using an incorrect fuse could damage the radio.

Mounting the Head Unit: Typical DIN mounting

Step 1: Insert the mounting sleeve into the installation kit or dashboard.

Step 2: Bend multiple mounting tabs around the mounting sleeve until the mounting sleeve is secure.

Step 3: Connect all wiring harnesses and slide the head unit into the mounting sleeve until it clicks into place.

Step 4: Remove the trim ring and use the removal keys to remove the unit.

General Operation

Power On/Off
Press the button to turn the unit on. Press again to turn unit off.

Faceplate Removal
Press RELEASE and pull away from the left side to remove. To re-install, insert right side of faceplate first then push left side to secure.

Changing Modes
Press MODE to select between Radio. USB. Bluetooth. AUX. Modes of operation are shown in the display.

Volume
Adjust volume using volume knob.

Mute
Press to silence the audio. Press again lo resume listening al the previously selected volume.

Auxiliary Inputs
Insert a 3.5mm cable in the units front AUX port.

Reset
Press the RESET button to reset the unit back to the factory settings if abnormal operation occurs.
The reset hole is behind the front panel.

Setting the Clock
With the unit on, long press DISP to display clock time. Press and hold DISP until the hours or minutes begin to flash, then
release. Rotate the volume knob to adjust the time. Long press DISP to finish the clock setting.

Display
Press DISP to toggle display between various displayed information.

Audio/ Menu
Press volume knob momentarily to select between the audio functions. Press and hold volume knob for more than two seconds to select between the menu functions. Rotate the volume knob left/right to adjust or activate the desired function/audio.

AM/FM Tuner Operation

Seek Tuning
Press Tune and Tune  hold for 2 secs and release it to auto seek to previous or next strong station.

Manual Tuning
Press Tune and Tune momentarily to change radio frequency down or up one step at a time. Press and hold Tune and Tune for 3 secs to advance quickly and release it to stop on the desired station.

Band
Press BAND to select between FM 1, FM2, FM3, AM 1 and AM2 bands. Up to six presets can be programmed for each band, enabling up to 18 FM stations and 12 AM stations to be stored in memory.

Storing Presets
Up to 18 FM and 12 AM stations can be stored. To store a station, select the desired band and station. Press and hold the desired preset button (1-6) for more than two seconds. When stored, the preset number will appear in the display.

Recalling Presets
Preset stations can be recalled any time by pressing the corresponding preset button.

Auto store
Press and hold Volume Knob for more than 2 seconds, then press BAND/DISP to store 18 FM stations and 12 AM stations automatically.

Preset Scan
Touch PS to recall each preset station that has been stored in memory for each band.
(Available with the Dual Smart Remote App only)

USB Operation

Playing MP3 Files
To play MP3 files, insert a USB device containing MP3 files.

Track Select
Press TUNE ►► to skip lo the beginning of the next song. Press TUNE ◄◄ to skip to the beginning of the previous song..

Fast Forward and Reverse
Press and hold TUNE ►► or TUNE ◄◄ lo fast forward or reverse a track.

Pause
Press ►/ II to temporarily stop playback.
Press ►/ II again to resume playback.

Folder Access
Folder can be found by pressing Folder Up or Folder Down. About 1 second after the folder name is displayed, the first file under the selected folder will be displayed and playback.

Repeat
Press RPT lo toggle between RPT ALL and RPT ONE.

• RPT ALL – Plays all tracks on USB device.
• RPT ONE – Continuously repeats selected track.

Random
Press RDM to play tracks in random order, press again to cancel the RDM function.

Intro
Press INT lo plays first 10 seconds of each track, press again lo cancel the INT function.

Bluetooth® Operation

Preparation
Before using a Bluetooth device, it must be paired and connected. Ensure that Bluetooth is activated on your device before beginning the pairing process.

Pairing a New Device
The head unit broadcasts the pairing signal constantly when no devices are connected. Complete the pairing sequence from your Bluetooth device. Refer to the owner’s manual for your device for more details.
The device name is “Dual Media Player”
The Bluetooth passcode is “1234”
Note: If passcode “1234” does not pair your device to the receiver, use passcode “0000”.
Note: The head unit can be in any mode of operation when pairing is performed.

Streaming Audio Troubleshooting
The head unit supports A2DP wireless streaming audio from a Bluetooth mobile device directly to your head unit. The following functions can be used to control the music:

• Press ►► to skip to the next available audio track.
• Press ◄◄ to skip to the previous audio track.
• Press ►/ II to toggle between play and pause during playback.

APP Operation

The Dual Smart App is the ultimate wireless remote control for your receiver. You can download Dual Smart app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install it on your smartphone or tablet.

Please scan the following QR code to download Dual iPlug P2 App to your smart phone.

Voice Activation Operation

Bluetooth should be paired between your smartphone and the receiver. Press the voice activation button , and the receiver will switch into Bluetooth mode, This will activate Siri® or Google Assistant™ on your smartphone. You will need to manually switch back to the previous or desired mode once this operation is terminated.

Limited One-Year Warranty

This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights which vary from state to state. Dual Electronics Corp. warrants this product to the original purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of the original purchase. AM/FM Receiver with Bluetooth

Preparation

Please read entire manual before installation.

Before You Start

• Disconnect negative battery terminal. Consult a qualified technician for instructions.
• Avoid installing the unit where it would be subject to high temperatures, such as from direct sunlight, or where it would be subject to dust, dirt or excessive vibration.

Getting Started

• Remove trim ring from unit.
• Remove 2 transit screws located on top of the unit.
• Insert the supplied keys into the slots as shown, and slide the unit out of the mounting sleeve.
• Install mounting sleeve into opening, bending tabs to secure.
• Connect wiring harness and antenna. Consult a qualified technician if you are unsure.
• Certain vehicles may require an installation kit and/or wiring harness adapter (sold separately).
• Test for correct operation and slide into mounting sleeve to secure.
• Snap trim ring into place.

FUSE

When replacing the fuse, make sure new fuse is the correct type and amperage. Using an incorrect fuse could damage the radio.
The unit uses one 10 amp ATC fuse located beside the wiring connector.

Dual iPlug P2 Smart App Remote Control

Use the Dual iPlug P2 Smart App Remote Control on an Apple or Android smartphone to control the receiver via Bluetooth.

Change the mode, station, song, volume, and settings directly from your smartphone without being in the receiver’s line-of-sight.

Download the Dual iPlug P2 Smart App Remote Control from Apple App Store or Google Play Store and install it on your smartphone or tablet (QR code download link on the right).

Voice Activation

Your receiver is designed with an easy access voice activation button to use Siri® or the Google Assistant™ via your car’s Bluetooth. Interact with your smartphone assistant while you drive with only the push of a button!

Bluetooth should be paired between your smartphone and the receiver. Press the voice activation button, and the receiver will switch into Bluetooth mode, This will activate Siri® or Google Assistant™ on your smartphone. You will need to manually switch back to the previous or desired mode once this operation is terminated.

Front 3.5mm Aux Input

Connect an optional audio source into the 3.5mm (front panel) input. Select auxiliary input from the Main Menu to listen to audio. Adjust volume on the external audio source as needed (if connected to the headphone output of the device).

• When the temperature of the unit falls (as in winter), the liquid crystal inside the screen will become darker than usual. Normal brightness will return after using the monitor for a while.
• When extending the ignition, battery, or ground cables, make sure to use automotive-grade cables or other cables with an area of 0.75mm (AWG 18) or more to prevent voltage drops.
• Do not touch the liquid crystal fluid if the LCD is damaged or broken. The liquid crystal fluid may be hazardous to your health or fatal. If the liquid crystal fluid from the LCD contacts your body or clothing, wash it off with soap immediately.

Remote Control Preparation

Remove battery insulation tape.

To insert or replace the battery, remove the battery holder.

Remove the battery from the battery holder.

Install the new battery. Make sure to keep the (+) side up.

Insert the battery holder.
Notes:
• The remote control uses one 3 volt Lithium CR2025 battery. Remove the battery if the remote will not be used for a month or longer.
• Remove and dispose of the battery properly.
• Do not store the battery with metallic objects or materials.

General Operation

Power On/Off– Momentarily press to turn the unit on or off.
Volume – Rotate the volume knob to increase or decrease the volume level.
Mute – Momentarily press MUTE to silence the audio. Momentarily press MUTE again to return to the previously selected volume. Rotating the volume knob while the volume is muted will also cancel the mute function.
Mode – Press MODE to step through all available input modes: Radio, Disc (which includes DVD and CD playback), USB, Bluetooth Phone, Bluetooth Music,  DualMirror, Camera, Auxiliary Input, and AV In. Modes of operation are indicated on the display and/or the monitor. USB flash drive must be connected/inserted to appear in the mode selection string.
Auxiliary Input – Connect external audio/video devices to the 3.5mm auxiliary input on the front panel.
USB Port – Connect a USB device to the USB port on the front panel to play MP3/WMA files or view AVI, MP4 video files, or JPG photos.
Main Menu – From any operational mode, press the house icon in the top left corner to access the Main Menu screen.
1. Put the monitor into standby mode.
2. Eject the disc.
3. Set up steering wheel controls (view Steering Wheel Controls insert included with the unit for details).
Setup Menu – From the Main Menu screen, press SETUP in the bottom right corner to access the Setup menu and select from six categories across the bottom: General, Time, Video, Language, Illumination, and Calibration.
General:
• Animation – Select Off, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 90 seconds, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, or 4 minutes to set animation length.
• Key Beep – Select an OFF or ON to select whether or not the unit beeps each time a key is pressed.
• Disc – Adjust the following disc options:
– Format – Select NTSC, PAL, or AUTO.
– TV Type – Select 4:3PS, 4:3 LB or 16:9.
– Rating – Select desired rating.
• Radio – Adjust the following radio options:
– Select between STEREO or MONO operation.
– Select between LOCAL or DX (distance) tuning.
– Select between the following region settings: EUROPE, USA,
AMERICAN1, AMERICAN2, and OIRT.
– Select between RDS Regional ON or OFF.
– Select between RDS PI MUTE or SOUND.
– Select between RDS TA OFF or ON.
– Select between RDS AF OFF or ON.
• Wallpaper – Select three different wallpaper options.
• Camera Icon – Turn the camera icon ON or OFF on the Source Menu.
• Bluetooth – Adjust the following Bluetooth options:
– Turn Bluetooth On or OFF.
– Turn the Auto Answer feature On or OFF to determine whether or not the unit will automatically answer incoming calls.
– Turn the Auto-Connect feature On or OFF to determine whether or not the unit will automatically connect to available devices.
– Turn the Auto-Download feature On or OFF.
• Dimmer – Adjust the dimmer levels between 1 and 6, or turn the dimmer OFF. Dimmer can also be adjusted by tapping the dimmer icon on the LCD.
• Demo – Turn Demo mode OFF or ON.
• About – Select to view information about the unit.
Setup Menu
Time:
• Hour – Press < or > to adjust the hour down or up.
• Minute – Press < or > to adjust the minutes down or up.
• Format – Select between a 12HR or 24HR clock display.
• AM/PM – Select between AM and PM for current clock time.
Video:
• Color – Drag to adjust between -20 and 20.
• Brightness – Drag to adjust between -20 and 20.
• Contrast – Drag to adjust between -20 and 20.
• Tint – Drag to adjust between -20 and 20.
Language:
• English – Set the unit language to English.
RGB Illumination:
• Red/Green/Blue – Drag each level to manually adjust the unit’s illumination color.
• Color Selector – Use the color selector at the bottom of the screen to select the unit’s illumination color.
• Auto Color – Select this option to restore automatic color settings.
Calibration:
• Calibrate the Screen – Press YES to calibrate the touch screen.
Reset
To resolve abnormal operation or if the unit is inoperable, use the tip of a pen to press the RESET button (located in the bottom left corner). The unit will reset the main processor to the default settings.

AM/FM/RDS Tuner Operation

Radio Operation – Select the Radio icon from the Main Menu screen.
Main Menu 1 – Press to return to the Main Menu screen.
Current Mode Indicator 2 – Displays current mode of operation.
Tune Frequency Down 3 – Press << to tune the radio to a lower frequency. Press < to tune the unit down one step at a time.
Tune Frequency Up 4 – Press >> to tune the radio to a higher frequency. Press > to tune the unit up one step at a time.
Phone 5 – Press to access the Phone when Bluetooth is enabled. If Bluetooth is turned off, pressing this button will turn it on.
Camera 6 – Press to access the Camera when the camera function is enabled.
Previous Options 7 – Press to see the previous screen of options.
Preset Stations 8 – Press to display the six preset stations stored in memory in the current band. To store a preset station, tune the unit to the desired station, then press and hold the desired preset button to store the current station in that preset spot. Up to 18 FM and 12 AM stations can be stored in memory. Momentarily press any preset station to play it instantly. (Preset station display is pictured on the following page.)
Mute 9 – Press to mute the unit’s sound. Press again to unmute, or sound can be restored by adjusting the volume knob of the front panel.
Audio 10
Press to adjust the following Audio options:
• EQ – Select from the preset EQ options: JAZZ, CLASSIC, POP, ROCK, BEAT, OR FLAT, or select USER to manually adjust Bass, Middle, and Treble options between -7 and 7.
• Fader/Balance – Drag to adjust Fader options between 10F (front) and 10R (rear) and Balance options between 10L (left) and 10R (right).
• Subwoofer/Loudness
– Adjust subwoofer volume from 1-12, or turn subwoofer OFF.
– Select between OFF, LOW, or HIGH loudness levels.
• ASP
– Bass Center Frequency: 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or 200Hz.
– Bass Q Value: 1.0, 1.25, 1.5 or 2.0.
– Middle Center Frequency: 500Hz, 1 kHz, 1.5kHz, or 2.5kHz.
– Middle Q Value: 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 or 1.25.
– Treble Center Frequency: 10kHz, 12.5kHz, 15kHz, 17.5kHz.
– Loudness Center Frequency: FLAT, 400Hz, 800Hz, 2400Hz.

Automatically Store /Preset Scan 11
Press to scan preset stations and listen to the first 10 seconds of each. Press again to stop scanning and listen to the station. Press and hold to automatically find and store the strongest stations as presets.
Band 12 – Press to select between two AM and three FM bands.
Next Options 13 – Press to see the next screen of options.
Local / Distance 14 – Press to toggle between LOCAL and DX (distance) tuning.
Program Type (PTY) 15 – Press to select Program Type / Genre.
Traffic Announcements 16 – Press to turn on/off Traffic Announcements.

CD/USB Operation

CD/MP3/WMA or JPG Operation –  To play audio files from a disc or MP3/WMA files from a disc or USB device, insert disc or device and playback will begin automatically. To return to disc or USB playback from another mode of operation, select the corresponding icon from the Main Menu.
• Disc Playback – Insert the disc into the slot, and playback will begin automatically.
• USB Playback – Insert a USB device into the USB slot on the side of the unit.
Main Menu 1 – Press to return to the Main Menu screen.
Current Mode Indicator 2 – Displays current mode of operation.
Repeat 3 – Press to select a repeat option: Repeat 1, Repeat Folder or Repeat Off.
Random 4 -Press to enable or disable random playback.

Direct File Access 6 – Press to access the directory of folders and files. Use the up/down arrows to scroll through the folder list, then press on the name of the desired folder to access it. Use the up/down arrows to scroll through the file list, then press on the name of the desired file to access it. The default display will show Music files. Select the Photo or Video icons at the bottom of the screen to display those files instead.

Camera 7 – Press to access the Camera when the camera function is enabled.

MP3/WMA playback sequence begins in the root folder of the disc or USB flash drive. Any empty folders or folders that do not include MP3/WMA/JPG files are skipped.

• Valid characters for folder/file names are letters A-Z (all caps), numbers 0-9, and “_” (underscore). Some characters may not be displayed correctly, depending on the character type.

2-Way DualMirror™ Operation

The DualMirror™ technology allows you to mirror the screen of select Android smartphones as well as iPhone, iPod, and iPad devices onto the receiver’s screen and to charge your mobile device through the rear USB port. Simply plug in your device to the rear HDMI and USB inputs, and you are ready to view your favorite navigation or music apps directly on the receiver’s screen. The DualMirror™ technology requires the following cables which are sold separately.

Set up and connect the 2-way control feature with your Android device using the instructions below. Currently, iOS is not compatible with 2-way control.

1. Scan DualMirror 2-Way QR code in DualMirror mode or search the “DualMirror 2-Way-B” app to download the app from Google Play (Android only).
2. Download and install the DualMirror 2-Way-B app.
3. After installation, touch the settings icon on the lower right to enter the Bluetooth menu and pair your device.
4. Once Bluetooth pairing is completed, select the DualMirror source from the main menu.
6. When DualMirror source is selected, a warning message will appear. Press ACCEPT to continue.
Note: Some phones will not support landscape mode on the home screen, touch the icon on the lower left of the app to force the screen into landscape mode,  this will fill in the screen and remove the black sidebars.
Note: If the 2-way control is not working, verify that the DualMirror app is running prior to connecting the phone to the unit and make sure that the Bluetooth is paired/connected and the status on the app also says “Connected”.

Bluetooth Operation

Preparation
Before you can use a Bluetooth device, it must be paired and connected. Make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your device before you begin the pairing process.
Pairing a New Device
The unit broadcasts the pairing signal constantly when no devices are currently connected. Complete the pairing sequence from your Bluetooth device. Refer to the owner’s manual for your device for more details. The device name is “Dual BT”. The Bluetooth passcode “0000”. The unit can be in any mode of operation when pairing is performed.
Note: On certain phones, pairing may need to be done more than once if there are connectivity issues.
Connecting a Paired Device
Most Bluetooth devices support the auto-connect feature and will connect automatically if the device is in range when the unit is powered on. If your device was previously paired but does not connect, enter the Bluetooth setup menu and ensure that Auto Connect is On.
Bluetooth Phone
To access the phone, select Bluetooth Phone from the Main Menu or press the phone icon from any operational mode.
Main Menu 1 – Press to return to the Main Menu screen.
Current Mode Indicator 2 – Displays current mode of operation.
Phone Keypad 3 – Use the phone keypad to dial the desired phone number. Alternatively, numbers can be dialed directly from the phone.
Redial 4 – Press to redial the last number called.
Talk 5 – Press to connect a call.
Backspace 6 – Press to backspace when typing a number with the keypad.
End Call 7 – Press to end a call.

Make a Call 8 – Press to display the keypad and make a call.
Dialed Call Log 9 – Press to display a log of dialed calls. Use the icons on the right to search for specific contact or scroll through the list.
Received Call Log 10 – Press to display a log of received calls. Use the icons on the right to search for specific contact or scroll through the list.
Missed Call Log 11 – Press to display a log of missed calls. Use the icons on the right to search for specific contact or scroll through the list.
Contacts 12 – Press to display contacts. Use the icons on the right to search for a specific contact or scroll through the list.
View Connections 13 – Press to view active and available Bluetooth connections. Use the icons on the right to disconnect and connect, search or scroll.
Bluetooth Music – To use your Bluetooth connection to play music from your device, select Bluetooth Music from the Main Menu.
Mute 14 – Press to mute the unit’s sound. Press again to unmute, or sound can be restored by adjusting the volume knob of the front panel.
Previous File/Track 15 – Press to go back to the previous file or track.
Audio 16 – Press to adjust Audio options (refer to page 13 for details).
Play / Pause 17 – Press to pause or resume playback.
Traffic Announcement 18 – Press to turn on/off Traffic Announcements.

Auxiliary Input
Connect an optional audio source into the 3.5mm (front panel) input.
Select auxiliary input from the Main Menu to listen to audio.
Adjust the volume on the external audio source as needed (if connected to the headphone output of the device).
Using AV Input
Connect an optional audio/video source to the rear auxiliary input (Red/White/Yellow RCA connectors). Refer to page 6 for details.
Select AV Input from the Main Menu to listen to audio.
Engage the parking brake to watch the video.

Rear Camera Operation – (Optional)

Using Rear Camera
Connect an optional rear camera to the Camera Input (Black RCA connector). Refer to the wiring diagram for details.
Manual selection – Touch CAMERA icon from the Main Menu or from any operational mode (when enabled) to select camera mode. Touch the top left area on the screen to exit camera mode.
Note: The manual mode is for dedicated cameras that are ALWAYS on while driving, it is not meant for cameras that are connected to the vehicle’s reverse light.
Auto Selection
The unit will automatically select camera mode when connected to the reverse lamp circuitry.
Note: The external video output is not active when using the rear camera input.

SWC PROGRAMMING OPERATION

SWC Input Operation

The built-in SWC Interface is compatible with PAC steering wheel control modules. The PAC SWI-RC is recommended. A third-party adapter must be used in order for the receiver to be compatible with any steering wheel controls. The following controls are available for most vehicles.

Note: Not all OE steering wheel functions may be supported by the DV715B.

PAC SWI-RC Installation Hints

1. Set “Radio Select Switch”. Set the SWI-RC to position 7 – “Pioneer/Other/Sony”.
2. To program, use the Pioneer/Sony/Other radio function mapping order for Dual units.
3.  When programming the SWI-RC, if a function is not supported (or not desired), then the function MUST be skipped as per the PAC SWI-RC instructions.
4.  The SWC function MUST be programmed in the correct order per the PAC SWI-RC radio function mapping order instructions.

General Operation

Power On/Off: Press the button to turn the unit on. Press again to turn the unit off.
Changing Modes: Press MODE to select between Radio, USB, Bluetooth, AUX. Modes of operation are shown in the display.
Volume: Adjust volume using the volume knob (00-40).
Auxiliary Inputs: Insert a 3.5mm cable in the unit’s front AUX port.
Reset: Press the RESET button to reset the unit back to the factory settings if abnormal operation occurs. The reset button is located on the front panel.
Setting the Clock: With the unit on, long press DISP to display clock time. Press and hold DISP until the hours or minutes begin to flash, then release. Rotate the volume knob to adjust the time. Long press DISP to finish the clock setting.
Display: Press DISP to toggle display between various displayed information.
Audio / Menu:

• Press the volume knob momentarily to select between audio functions.
• Press and hold the volume knob for more than two seconds to select between the menu functions.
• Rotate the volume knob left/right to adjust or activate the desired function/audio.

AM/FM Tuner Operation

Seek Tuning: Press TUNE or TUNE to seek to the previous or next strong station.
Manual Tuning: Press and hold TUNE or TUNE to enter manual tuning mode, then press TUNE momentarily to change radio frequency up or down one step at a time. Press and hold TUNE
Band: Press BAND to select between FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1 and AM2 bands. Up to six presets can be programmed for each band, enabling up to 18 FM stations and 12 AM stations to be stored in memory.
Storing Presets: Up to 18 FM and 12 AM stations can be stored. To store a station, select the desired band and station. Press and hold the desired preset button (1-6) for more than two seconds. When stored, the preset number will appear in the display.
Recalling Presets: Preset stations can be recalled any time by pressing the corresponding preset button.
Automatically Store: Press and hold MENU for more than 2 seconds, then press DISP to store 18 FM stations and 12 AM stations automatically.
Preset Scan Stations: Touch PS to recall each preset station that has been stored in memory for each band. (Available with the Dual Smart Remote App only)

Voice Activation

Your receiver is designed with an easy access voice activation button to use Siri® or the Google Assistant™ via your car’s Bluetooth. Interact with your smartphone assistant while you drive with only the push of a button!
Bluetooth should be paired between your smartphone and the receiver. Press the voice activation button , and the receiver will switch into Bluetooth mode, This will activate Siri® or Google AssistantTM on your smartphone. You will need to manually switch back to the previous or desired mode once this operation is terminated.

Safety Information

Please read all instructions carefully before attempting to install or operate.
Due to its technical nature, it is highly recommended that your DUAL DVM179 is installed by a professional installer or an authorized dealer. This product is only for use in vehicles with 12VDC negative ground only.
To prevent damage or injury:

• Make sure to ground the unit securely to the vehicle chassis ground.
• Do not remove the top or bottom covers of the unit.
• Do not install the unit in a spot exposed to direct sunlight or excessive heat or the possibility of water splashing.
• Do not subject the unit to excessive shock.
• When replacing a fuse, only use a new one with the prescribed rating. Using a fuse with the wrong rating may cause the unit to malfunction.
• To prevent short circuits when replacing a fuse, disconnect the wiring harness first.
• Use only the provided hardware and wire harness.
• You cannot view video while the vehicle is moving. Find a safe place to park and engage the parking brake.
• If you experience problems during installation, consult your nearest DUAL dealer.
• If the unit malfunctions, reset the unit as described on page 10 first. If the problem still persists, consult your nearest DUAL dealer or call tech assistance @ 1-866-382-5476.
• To clean the monitor, wipe only with a dry silicone cloth or soft cloth. Do not use a stiff cloth, or volatile solvents such as paint thinner and alcohol. They can scratch the surface of the panel and/or remove the printing.
• When the temperature of the unit falls (as in winter), the liquid crystal inside the screen will become darker than usual. Normal brightness will return after using the monitor for a while.
• When extending the ignition, battery or ground cables, make sure to use automotive-grade cables or other cables with an area of 0.75mm (AWG 18) or more to prevent voltage drops.
• Do not touch the liquid crystal fluid if the LCD is damaged or broken. The liquid crystal fluid may be hazardous to your health or fatal. If the liquid crystal fluid from the LCD contacts your body or clothing, wash it off with soap immediately.

General Operation

Power On/Off: Momentarily press to turn the unit on. Press and hold to turn the unit off.
Mode: Press to step through all available input modes: Radio, SD Card, USB, Bluetooth Phone, Bluetooth Music, Auxiliary Input, Rear Camera and Settings. Modes of operation are indicated on the display and/ or the monitor. Optional USB device and SD card must be connected/inserted to appear in the mode selection string.
Volume: Rotate the volume knob to increase or decrease the volume level.
Mute: Momentarily press the volume knob to silence the audio. Momentarily press the volume knob again to return to the previously selected volume. Rotating the volume knob while the volume is muted will also cancel the mute function.
Open: Press OPEN to open or close the LCD display screen.
Auxiliary input: Connect external audio/video devices to the 3.5mm auxiliary input on the front panel.
USB input: Insert a USB device to play MP3 audio files or view view XviD or MP4 video files or JPG photos.
MicroSD Card: Insert an microSD card into the microSD slot to play MP3 audio files or view XviD or MP4 video files or JPG photos.
Main Menu: Press the house icon in the top left corner to access the Main Menu screen. Reset:  To resolve abnormal operation or if the unit is inoperable, use the tip of a pen to press the RESET button, which is located behind the door marked “USB”. The unit will reset the main processor to the default settings.

Setup Menu: From the Main Menu, press the gear icon to access the Setup menu and adjust the following: General, Clock, Audio, Bluetooth, Display and About.

General:

• System Language – Select English or Spanish.
• Tuner Region – Select between America, Europe or Latin America.
• Beep – Turn the audible beep on or off.
• Rear Camera Delay – Select 1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds of Off.

Audio Settings: From any screen, press the Audio button in the lower right corner.

Equalizer: Adjust the EQ screen to select EQ settings for the current source. The unit had source tone memory, meaning that it will remember the selected EQ settings for each source.

1. Adjust the volume level for the current source.
2. Displays the EQ Settings for the current source.
3. Turns the EQ function on or off.
4. Turns the Loudness function on or off.
5. Press to reset to the default EQ settings.
6. Press to return to the source screen.
7. Select a preset EQ setting, or select User for custom settings.
8. Press to display and adjust Balance / Fader screen.

Balance / Fader: Adjust the Balance / Fader screen to select Balance, Fader and Subwoofer settings. These controls do not have source tone memory.

1. Adjust the volume level of the unit.
2. Adjust the Fader and Balance settings to distribute audio as desired front to back and left to right.
3. Press to reset Balance and Fader to default settings.

AM/FM Tuner Operation

Radio Operation: Select the Radio icon from the Main Menu screen.

1. Main Menu: Press to return to Main Menu screen.
2. Preset Stations: Press to recall any preset station stored in the current band. To save presets, tune the radio to desired station, then press and hold the desired preset button to save the station.
3. AM: Press to step through AM1 and AM2 band options.
4. FM: Press to step through FM1, FM2 and FM3 band options.
5. Bluetooth: Press to access Bluetooth mode when a Bluetooth device is paired.
6. Stereo / Mono: Press to toggle between Stereo and Mono tuning.
7. AS/PS: Press to scan presets and listen to the first 10 seconds of each. Press again to stop scanning and listen to the station. Press and hold to automatically find and store the strongest stations as presets.
8. Direct Entry: Press to directly enter the desired station number using a keypad.
9. Station Search: Press to search for the next strong station in the current band.
10. Audio Settings: Press to access and adjust audio settings.
11. Tune Station Down: Press << momentarily to seek a lower frequency. Press and hold << to enter manual tuning mode, then press << again to tune the unit down one step at a time.
12. Current Station: Displays the current station.
13. Tune Station Up: Press >> momentarily to seek a higher frequency. Press and hold >> to enter manual tuning mode, then press >> again to tune the unit up one step at a time.
14. Information Display: Displays information about the current song.
15. Station RDS RT Information: Displays Station RDS RT information.
16. Quick Band Select: Press to step through and select between 2 AM and 3 FM bands.
17. Radio RDS Setup Menu: Press to display and adjust Radio RDS settings.
18. Standby Mode: Press the clock to put the unit in standby mode. Press the clock again to return to the source screen.
19. Local / Distance: Press to toggle between local and distance tuning.

USB/microSD Card Operation

USB/SD Operation: To play audio files from a USB device or microSD card, insert device and playback will begin automatically. To return to USB or microSD card playback from another mode of operation, select the corresponding icon from the Main Menu.

1. Main Menu: Press to return to Main Menu screen.
2. Bluetooth Music: Press to directly access media on Bluetooth Music.
3. USB: Press to directly access music on USB device.
4. microSD Card: Press to directly access music on microSD Card.
5. Bluetooth: Press to access Bluetooth when a Bluetooth device is paired.
6. Random: Press to play all tracks in random order.
7. Repeat: Press to step through the following repeat options: Repeat 1, Repeat All or Repeat Off
8. Direct Entry: Press to enter desired station number using a keypad.
9. File/Folder List: Press to display all files and folder on the current drive.
10. Audio Settings: Press to access and adjust audio settings.
11. Tune/Track Down: Press << momentarily to return to the previous track.
12. Play / Pause: Press to pause or resume playback.
13. Tune/Track Up: Press to advance to the next track.
14. Elapsed Time: Displays the total and elapsed time for the current track.
15. File Information: Displays ID3 metadata for the current track.
16. File Album Art: Displays album art for the current track.
17. Track Counter: Displays track count for current folder.
18. Standby Mode: Press the clock to put the unit in standby mode. Press the clock again to return to the source screen.

Media Compatibility – USB/microSD Card

Notes: 

• For USB mode, it is not possible to view JPG files on the in-dash monitor while the vehicle is moving. This is a safety feature to prevent driver distraction.
• The JPG image viewer function will only operate when vehicle is in park and the parking brake is engaged.
• Due to ongoing technological advancement, some USB flash drives and/or microSD cards may be incompatible with this unit.

Media Compatibility: The following types of files are not compatible:

• MP3 PRO format, MP3 playlists
• RMP format
• WAV format
• WMV format
• AAC, protected AAC, M4A format

Playback Order: MP3 playback sequence begins in the root folder of the USB flash drive or microSD card. Any folders that do not include MP3/JPG files are skipped.
Compatible Recording Formats: ISO9660 standards:

• Maximum nested folder depth is 8 (including the root folder).
• Valid characters for folder/file names are letters A-Z (all caps), numbers  0- 9, and “_” (underscore). Some characters may not be displayed correctly, depending on the character type.

Notes: Some files may not play, depending on sampling rates and bit rates. For best results, use the following settings when ripping MP3 files: 128kbps or higher constant bit rate; 44.1kHz or higher sampling frequency.

Bluetooth Operation

Preparation: Before you can use a Bluetooth device, it must be paired and connected. Make sure that Bluetooth is activated on your device before you begin the pairing process.

Pairing a New Device: The unit broadcasts the pairing signal constantly when no devices are currently connected. Complete the pairing sequence from your Bluetooth device. Refer to the owner’s manual for your device for more details. The device name is “DUALBT”. The Bluetooth passcode is “0000”. The unit can be in any mode of operation when pairing is performed. On certain phones, pairing may need to be done more than once.

Connecting a Paired Device: Most Bluetooth devices support the auto-connect feature and will connect automatically if the device is in range when the unit is powered-on. If your device was previously paired but does not connect, enter the Bluetooth setup menu and turn Auto Connect on.

Bluetooth Phone: To access the phone, select Bluetooth Phone from the Main Menu or press the phone icon from any operational mode.

1. Main Menu: Press to return to the Main Menu screen.
2. Phone Keypad: Use the phone keypad to dial the desired phone number. Alternately, numbers can be dialed directly from the phone.
3. Exit Bluetooth: Press to exit Bluetooth and return to the previous mode of operation.
4. Keypad: Press to display the keypad and dial a number.
5. Contacts: Press to display contacts. Use the up/down arrows to scroll, and press the contact name to dial.
6. Backspace: Press to backspace when using the keypad.
7. Recent Call List: Press to view a list of recent calls. Press any number to dial.
8. Device Manager: Press to display a list of paired devices, and select desired device to connect.
9. Dimmer: Press to begin or answer a call.
10. Current Number: Displays the current phone number.
11. Standby Mode: Press the clock to put the unit in standby mode. Press the clock again to return to the source screen.
12. End Call: Press to end a call
13. Transfer Audio: Transfer audio between the head unit and the phone.
14. Mute: Mute call audio.
15. Keypad: Display the keypad.

Front 3.5mm Aux Input

Auxiliary Input: Connect an optional audio source into the 3.5mm (front panel) input. Select auxiliary input from the Main Menu to listen to audio. Adjust volume on the external audio source as needed (if connected to the headphone output of the device).

Front/Rear Cameras – (Optional)

Using Rear Camera: Connect an optional rear camera to the Rear Camera inputs (Yellow RCA connector for video and Black RCA connector for audio). Refer to the wiring diagram for details.

• Manual selection – Touch the REAR CAMERA icon from the Main Menu or from any operational mode (when enabled) to select camera mode. Touch the top left area on the screen to exit camera mode.

Note: The manual mode is for dedicated cameras that are ALWAYS on while driving, it is not meant for cameras that are connected to the vehicle’s reverse light.

Auto Selection: The unit will automatically select camera mode when connected to the reverse lamp circuitry.

Using Front Camera: Connect an optional front camera to the Front Camera inputs (Yellow RCA connector for video; there is no audio connection for a front camera. Refer to the wiring diagram for details.
