Get Started With Your Sampler Book
  1. PRESS the On/Off Button to begin. The green Power Light will shine when the LeapStart® Go system is on.
  2. TOUCH the tip of the stylus to any image or word on your Sampler Book.

Download Companion Audio and Video for Purchased LeapStart® Books

  1. Turn on the LeapStart® system and touch a page.
  2. If you have not already done so, follow the instructions under Get Started to install the LeapFrog® Connect application.
  3. Follow the instructions in the LeapFrog® Connect application to set up your LeapStart® system and download companion audio and video for each of your books. The Power Light will flash in about one second intervals when content is downloading.
  4. Eject and disconnect the LeapStart® system from your computer.
  5. To begin playing, simply touch the tip of the LeapStart® stylus to any image or word in your LeapStart® activity book.

Automatic Shut Off
The system will turn off automatically if not used for several minutes.

Power Light Indication

The Power Light on the LeapStart® Go system has different behaviors in the circumstances below:

* If there is an issue charging the battery, such as the battery not getting enough power or being outside of the normal temperature range, the power light will show green.

Instructions for Care and Use

For indoor, dry-location use only. Do not use the product near a sink or other wet locations. Take care not to spill food or any kind of liquid on this product as it may render it inoperable and not serviceable. In case the unit does get wet, unplug all cables and turn it OFF. Allow to dry thoroughly before reusing. Do not attempt to dry with a hair dryer or other heat source.

Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Operate in places with temperatures ranging from 5°C (40°F) to 38°C (100°F). Do not leave the product in your car as the temperatures in parked cars can exceed the acceptable storage temperature. Exposure to extreme temperatures can result in shortened battery life or cause the product to temporarily stop working.

Handle with care. To avoid injury, damage to this product or other property, avoid dropping and never disassemble, crush, puncture, microwave, incinerate, insert foreign objects or paint the product. Clean your hands before handling the product if they have been exposed to suntan lotions or other chemicals.

Cleaning. Disconnect all cords before cleaning. Clean the product with a slightly damp cloth (cold water). Do not use soap, detergent or other chemicals. Never submerge the unit in water. Allow to dry thoroughly before using again.

Repairing or Modifying LeapStart® Go System
Never attempt to repair or modify as the LeapStart® Go System does not contain any user-serviceable parts. Service should only be provided by LeapFrog® Enterprise, Inc.
If the product has been in contact with liquids, punctured, or subjected to a severe impact or fall, immediately remove this product from use and contact LeapFrog®

Important Safety Instructions

Please read all the Important Safety Instructions prior to using the LeapStart® Go system. Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in fire, electric shock, or other injury or damage to the LeapStart® Go system or other property.

CAUTION: This product is not intended for children under 3 years old. Routinely check this toy for proper and safe condition. If there is any damage or broken parts, remove toy from use.

WARNING: Cords are a strangulation hazard. Keep out of reach of children under 3 years of age. Children pulling on the cord could cause equipment to which the device is connected to fall with the possibility of property damage, serious personal injury or death. Adult supervision required during play.

PROTECT YOUR HEARING: Long-term exposure to loud sounds, at high volume, may result in permanent hearing loss. When using headphones or ear buds, it is recommended that the product is listened to at lower volumes for shorter periods of time. Set the volume while in a quiet environment; turn the volume down if you cannot hear people speaking near you. Limit the listening time to 90 minutes, followed by a quiet period. The louder the volume, the less time required before your hearing may be affected. If you experience ringing in your ears or hear muffled speech, stop listening and have your hearing checked.

Battery Replacement

WARNING: The lithium rechargeable battery cannot be removed from the product and should only be replaced by LeapFrog. For your safety, never try to remove the battery. For more information about battery replacement service, go to: www.leapfrog.com/support

Charging the Battery
The LeapStart® Go device is equipped with a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery. It should be connected to an outlet with an AC Adapter or a computer via the USB cord for several hours prior to use. The Charge Statues LED is located under power button on the side of the device. When the battery is charging, the charge indicator will display a amber light. When fully charged and connected via the USB port, the charge indicator light will turn green. The charge indicator will be OFF if not connected via USB and if not charging.

Battery Charging Instructions, Cautions & Warnings

WARNING: The adapter or USB cords could be a strangulation hazard. Not for children under 3 years.
WARNING: Not suitable for children under 3 years. Misuse of transformer can cause electric shock.
CAUTION: The battery is only to be charged by adults or children 8+ years of age under the full supervision of parents.

Optional AC Adapter Battery Charger
An optional AC Adapter can be used. Cautions & Warning apply. Please note that due to various compliance requirements, the word “transformer” is sometimes substituted for “AC Adapter.”

AC Adapter (Transformer) Battery Charger Safety
  • Connection of the transformer to the wall outlet should be performed only by an adult or child 8+ years of age.
  • The transformer is not intended to be used as a toy, and the use of the transformer shall be under the full supervision of parents.
  • As with all electrical products, precautions should be observed during handling and use to prevent electrical shock.
  • The AC Adapter may become warm during normal use. Always allow adequate ventilation and use care when handling the power adapter.
  • Do not connect or disconnect with wet hands.
  • The transformer should be periodically examined for conditions that may result in the risk of fire, electrical shock or injury to persons, such as damage to the cord, plug, blades, housing or other parts, and in the event of such conditions, the transformer must not be used until the damage is repaired. The cord of this transformer cannot be replaced; if the cord is damaged, dispose of the transformer in accordance with your local electrical product recycling regulations.

Unplug the AC Adapter (transformer) if any of the following conditions exist:

  • The power cord or plug, or the USB cord has become frayed or damaged.
  • The power adapter is exposed to rain, liquid, or excessive moisture.
  • The power adapter enclosure has become damaged.
  • You suspect the power adapter needs service or repair.
  • To clean the transformer, disconnect it from the wall and clean with a slightly damp cloth. Do not immerse in water or use soap or other chemicals. Allow to dry before reusing. Do not connect to the AC outlet if wet or damaged.
  • For Europe – The toy must be used with a transformer for toys.

USB Cable

The USB cable provided with this product complies with FCC and other regulatory Emission limits. Using any other cable may exceed FCC and other regulatory emissions limits.
The USB cable is not a toy. Disconnect the toy from the USB connection before cleaning. USB connectors and cable used with the product must be regularly examined for damage to the cord, plug and other parts and, in the event of such damage, the cable must not be used until the damage has been repaired.

Or, if the static electricity malfunction occurred during the downloading process, disconnect the USB cable, then reset the unit as described above. Then reconnect the USB cable and restart the download process.

LeapFrog RockIt Twist User Guide

INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the RockIt TwistTM rotatable learning game system! Four sides of controls including a spinner, slider, switch, D-pad, buttons and dials provide a unique gameplay experience. The system includes 12 games that help build core skills such as reading, math and creativity. Plus, grow, nurture and play with virtual RockIt PetsTM. Expand the fun and learning with additional game packs (sold separately).

PRODUCT LAYOUT AND BUTTONS

PRODUCT FEATURES

  1. D-Pad
    Press the D-Pad left, right, up, or down in game play as needed. Use this control to scroll through menus or select games to play.
  2. Switch
    Rock the Switch back and forth during game play as needed.
  3. Button Grid
    Press any of the nine buttons on the Button Grid in game play as needed.
  4. Spinner
    Turn the Spinner in game play as needed. The Spinner turns in both directions.
  5. Slider
    Swipe your finger up and down the Slider in game play as needed.
  6. Dials
    Turn the Dials upward or downward in game play as needed. The three Dials turn independently.
  7. Check Mark
    Press the Check Mark to confirm on-screen selections or in game play as needed.
  8. Power Button
    Press and hold the Power Button to turn the system on or off.
  9. Volume Control
    Press the Volume Control up or down to adjust the system volume.
  10. Home Button 
    Press the Home Button to return to the game or system menu.
  11. Hint Button
    Press the Hint Button when you need help in a game.
  12. Micro-USB Port 
    Connect the RockIt TwistTM system to your computer using the included micro-USB cable to transfer MP3s, install game pack content (sold separately), and charge the system.

GETTING STARTED

Battery Charging
Note: Adult operation required.
A low battery alert will appear in the bottom right portion of the screen when the battery level is low.
To charge the RockIt Twist™ system, connect it to a computer or AC adapter (not included) with rating of 5V, ≥1A using the included micro-USB cable. To do so correctly, please follow these steps:

  • Make sure the RockIt Twist™ system is turned OFF.
  • Pull up the rubber cover of the Micro-USB Port on the side of the system.
  • Insert the micro-USB cable (small end) into the Micro-USB Port on the RockIt Twist™ system.
  • Insert the large end of the cable into a USB port on your computer or compatible AC adapter. A USB port is usually marked with this symbol:.
  • The Charging Indicator light will flash while the system is charging. After the battery is fully charged, the Charging Indicator will turn off.

Note: The actual charging time depends on the charging current, the remaining charge in the battery prior to recharging, and the ambient temperature. The optimum ambient temperature is 32°F – 104°F (0°C to 40°C). If powered off, using a computer to charge the system will take up to 3.5 hours. If powered on, using a computer to charge the system will take up to 6.5 hours. If powered on or off, using an AC adapter to charge the system will take up to 3.5 hours.

Battery Life
The time the battery lasts between charges depends on the amount and frequency of use. When the battery level is low as indicated by the low battery alert, it is recommended to recharge the battery before further use. When the battery level is too low, the system will not turn on until it is sufficiently recharged.

Battery Maintenance
Charge the battery regularly for optimal performance, even when the system is not regularly in use. For example, charge the system at least once every six months.

BATTERY NOTICE
Misuse of batteries can lead to them bursting, causing a fire or chemical burns. Please follow these precautions:

  • Do not disassemble.
  • Do not crush and do not expose the battery to any shock or force such as hammering, dropping or stepping on it.
  • Do not short circuit.
  • Do not expose to high temperatures or place near a heat source.
  • Do not leave in direct sunlight for any length of time.
  • Do not dispose of in a fire.
  • If you find the time between charges is considerably shortened with no change in usage, the battery could be nearing the end of its life. The battery life varies from battery to battery depending on storage, operating conditions and environment.
  • Examine the charging cord periodically for conditions that may result in the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons such as damage to the cord, housing, or other parts. In the event of such conditions, the cord should not be used until properly repaired or replaced.

QUICK START

  1. Press and hold the Power Button until the LCD screen turns On.
  2. You can create up to two profiles that will store your game play progress, or play as a guest.

    The guest profile does not store any game play progress.
  3. After creating or selecting a profile, use the red D-Pad and the green Check Mark to select a Station, and then find a game to play.
  4.  Press and hold the Power Button to turn Off the RockIt Twist™ system.

INSTALL GAME PACKS AND TRANSFER

MP3 FILES (sold separately)

  1. Power Up and Connect
    Connect the RockIt Twist™ system to your computer with the included micro-USB cable.
  2. Set Up
    Install the Leapfrog® Connect application from leapfrog.com/connect onto your computer.
  3. Register
    Follow the instructions on screen to create or sign in to a LeapFrog® Parent Account and register your RockIt Twist™ system.
  4. Activate and Install
    To activate and install game packs, follow the instructions that come with the activation card and go to the Activate Game Packs screen. To transfer your personal MP3s, follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Play and Learn!
    Eject the system and your child is ready to play!

GAME PACKS 

Expand the fun with game packs that include additional learning games, virtual RockIt Pets™ and collectible figures (sold separately).

System Requirements for Computer Connection

Internet connection, parent account registration, and LeapFrog® Connect application are required to install game packs and transfer MP3s. The LeapFrog® Connect application is available at leapfrog.com/connect. Must be 18 years or older to register.
Monitor resolution of 1024 x 768; available USB port; 1 GB of RAM; 500 MB free disk space.
PC Requirements: Pentium® 4 or equivalent (2 GHz processor or faster recommended); Windows® 7, Windows® 8, or Windows® 10 operating system with latest service pack.
Mac Requirements: Intel®-based Apple computer (1 GHz processor or faster recommended); Mac OS X 10.11+ operating system software.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

  • Keep the rubber cover over the Micro-USB Port closed tightly when not in use in order to prevent dust or water from getting in.
  • Keep the RockIt Twist™ system and accessories clean by wiping them with a slightly damp cloth. Never use solvents or abrasives.
  • Keep the RockIt Twist™ system out of direct sunlight and away from direct sources of heat.
  • Avoid dropping the RockIt Twist™ system. NEVER try to dismantle it.
  • Always keep the RockIt Twist™ system away from water.
  • Examine the micro-USB cable regularly, checking for damage to the cable, plug and other parts. Do not use the micro-USB cable if there is any damage.
  • As with all electrical products, precautions should be observed during handling to prevent electric shock.
  • Connecting an AC adapter to a wall outlet should only be performed by an adult or a supervised child 8+ years of age.
  • Do not leave the toy plugged in for extended periods of time.
  • Never clean a plugged-in toy with liquid.
  • Never use more than one adapter.

WARNING:
A very small percentage of the public, due to an existing condition, may experience epileptic seizures or momentary loss of consciousness when viewing certain types of flashing colors or patterns. While the RockIt Twist™ system does not contribute to any additional risks, we do recommend that parents supervise their children while they play games. If your child experiences dizziness, altered vision, disorientation, or convulsions, discontinue use immediately and consult your doctor.
Please note that playing screen devices at close range for a prolonged period of time may cause fatigue or discomfort. We recommend that children take a 15-minute break for every hour of play.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Check this section if you experience difficulty operating your RockIt Twist™ system. If the system stops working for any reason, please follow these steps:

Problem Correction
The RockIt Twist™ system has stopped working
  1. Press and hold the Power Button for 30 seconds.
  2. Release, then press the Power Button again to turn the system back on. It should now work properly.
  3. If the RockIt Twist™ system doesn’t work, recharge the battery and repeat steps 1 and 2. (Refer to the Getting Started section for details)
Screen is not working correctly
  1. Press and hold the Power Button for 30 seconds.
  2. Release, then press the Power Button again to turn the system back on. It should now work properly.
Cannot connect the RockIt Twist™ system to a computer
  1. Check the connections on the cable between the RockIt Twist™ system and the computer and review the Connecting to a Computer section of this guide.
  2. Press and hold the Power Button for 30 seconds.
    Then, release and press again to turn it back on. Once the RockIt Twist™ system turns back on, reconnect to computer.
Charging Indicator flashes rapidly while charging
  1. Disconnect from power by unplugging the USB cable.
  2. Inspect the charging cable for damage.
  3. Reconnect the charging cable.
  4. If steps 1-3 do not work, try again with a different cable or power source.

Then reconnect the USB cable and restart the download process.

GET STARTED

Step 1
Before you play with or connect your puppy, remove the plastic pull tab from the back and discard.
Go to leapfrog.com/MyPals2 on your device (smartphone, tablet or computer). For a list of supported browsers, see System Requirements on the opposite side of this guide.
Create or sign in to your LeapFrog account. Follow the instructions to set up your child’s profile. Then select your child’s name and favorites.

Step 2
Open the hook-and-loop fastener on the back of your puppy to access the Battery Box, slide open the Battery Box door to reveal the Cable. (Note: Your puppy’s Power/Volume Switch must be in the On position to successfully connect to your device.)
Connect the puppy’s Cable from the Battery Box to your device’s 3.5mm headphone jack (or adapter) on your smartphone, tablet or computer. (Do not plug the Cable into peripheral or external accessories, such as speakers, docks, etc.)
Follow the webpage instructions to turn your device’s audio volume all the way up and to begin the download.

Step 3
Once you see the Collar light up and hear your puppy say, “I’m ready to play now,” please disconnect the cable from your device and tuck it back into the Battery Box. Close the Battery Box door and make sure that it is securely closed. Close the hook-and-loop fastener over the Battery Box.

INTRODUCTION

HOW TO PLAY

Press the Daytime Songs Paw to play an assortment of learning songs, personalized songs and melodies just for your baby.
Press the Activities Paw to hear your puppy talk about your child’s favorite things, count hiccups, pretend to be other animals and talk about feelings.
The Lullaby Paw plays soothing lullaby music. Squeeze once to hear five minutes of music. Squeeze twice to hear 10 minutes of music. Squeeze a third time to hear 15 minutes of music.
To turn off your puppy, press the On/Off Paw. When your child is ready to play again, press any paw to resume play mode.

Caring for Your Puppy
For indoor, dry-location use only. Keep food and beverages away from the product. Do not spill liquid of any kind on this product as it may render it inoperative. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Avoid dropping the product. Never try to dismantle it.
Cleaning Your Puppy
Disconnect cable from your device before cleaning. Clean with a slightly damp cloth (cold water). Do not use soap, detergent or other chemicals. Never submerge the product in water. Allow to dry before reuse.
Battery Information
Batteries included are for in-store demonstration and should be replaced for home use. Requires 3 AA (called LR6 in some countries) alkaline batteries.
Battery Removal and Installation Instructions

  1. Open the battery door with a Phillips screwdriver.
  2. If used batteries are present, remove these batteries from the unit by pulling up on one end of each battery.
  3. Install new batteries as shown in the polarity (+/-) diagram inside the battery compartment.
  4. Replace battery door securely.

Battery Safety
Batteries are small objects. Batteries must be replaced by an adult. Follow the polarity (+/-) diagram in the battery compartment. Promptly remove used batteries from the product. Dispose of used batteries properly. Remove batteries for prolonged storage. Only batteries of the same or equivalent type (as recommended) are to be used.
DO NOT incinerate used batteries.
DO NOT dispose of batteries in fire, as batteries may explode or leak.
DO NOT mix old and new batteries or types of batteries (i.e., alkaline/standard).
DO NOT recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
DO NOT short-circuit the supply terminals.
Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged. Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.

CAUTION: As packaged, a cable for adult’s use in transferring data is accessible via an opened battery door. After data transfer and battery installation has been completed by an adult, the battery door is to be secured by the adult using a Phillips screwdriver. To prevent access to the cable, DO NOT allow child to play with the toy if the battery door is not secured.
CAUTION: Plug the puppy’s cord directly into the 3.5mm headphone jack (or adapter) on your smartphone, tablet or computer. Do not plug the cord into peripheral or external accessories, such as speakers, docks, etc.
CAUTION: Routinely check this product for proper and safe condition. If there is any damage or broken parts, remove product from use.
CAUTION: This is not intended as a crib toy. To prevent entanglement injury NEVER add strings, ties or other products to this item.

Disconnect and reconnect the Cable to your device. It might take a moment to recognize the toy.

Increase your device’s media volume level to high. (Smartphone users: Be sure to change media volume, not ringer volume.)

Ensure your browser meets the Minimum System Requirements. Try using a different browser
Try connecting the toy to a different device that meets the Minimum System Requirements
Use the included Cable attached to the battery box

Environmental Phenomena
