Error Code Condition DIY Advice
OP in freezer temperature display Freezer temperature sensor open Check/Repair

Unplug the refrigerator and check wiring connections between the freezer temperature sensor and the electronic control board. Reconnect any loose wires. If the wiring connections are okay, unplug the freezer temperature sensor from its wire harness and measure the resistance of the sensor using a multimeter. The meter should measure 84,925 ohms if the sensor temperature is 0 degrees, 32,566 ohms at 32 degrees and 11,304 ohms at 72 degrees (room temperature). Replace the sensor if the meter measures infinite resistance. If the meter measures correct resistance through the sensor, plug the temperature sensor back in and measure resistance through the freezer temperature sensor wires that connect to the electronic control board. The freezer temperature sensor connects to the electronic control board through the gray/white wires on the J4A connector. Unplug the J4A connector from the control board and measure resistance through the gray/white wires. The meter should read the same resistance as for the temperature sensor. If the meter measures correct sensor resistance through the wires, you’ll likely need to replace the electronic control board because it’s not accurately detecting sensor resistance. Find and repair the sensor wiring failure if the meter measures infinite resistance through the sensor wires.

SY EF Evaporator fan circuit failure Check/Repair

Unplug the refrigerator and check the evaporator fan wire harness connection in the freezer. Reconnect the wire harness plug if it’s loose. If the wire harness connection in the freezer is okay, check the evaporator fan wire connections to the electronic control board (brown/white, blue/white and yellow/white wires on J4A and red/white wire on J4B). If the wiring connections are okay, replace the evaporator fan. If the problem continues, replace the electronic control board.

SY CE or SY CF Communications failure between the electronic control board and user interface Check/Repair

Unplug the refrigerator and check the wire harness connections between the user interface and the electronic control board. If the wiring connections are okay, replace the electronic control board. If the problem continues, replace the user interface.

FAQS

How do you reset the code on a Frigidaire refrigerator?

To try and clear the SY CE error code the easiest way, try unplugging your Frigidaire Refrigerator for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes plug the refrigerator back in. This may have reset the control board and cleared the error code.

What does error code H1 mean on a Frigidaire refrigerator?

One such error code that Frigidaire fridges display is H1. The H1 error code means that the freezer sensor has shorted. To fix the underlying cause of the problem, you need to check the thermistor and if it’s defective, replace it.

What does error code SY EF mean on a Frigidaire refrigerator?

Then the sound was gone, but the refrigerator was bad to freeze and appeared error code SY EF. This code means that it is not cold enough inside the freezer. After the inspection, it was found that the blades of the Evaporator fan are blocked by ice and the circulation of cold air inside does not occur.

Can you reset a refrigerator by unplugging it?

Yes, unplugging the refrigerator will reset the appliance, provided you leave the refrigerator unplugged and undisturbed for 45 to 50 minutes. When the refrigerator is unplugged, do not open the doors.

I have a 3 yr old Frigidaire refrigerator with a temperature control board that is not working. I have checked the fuse and it is fine. How can I check the board?

If you’re not getting any power to the board, then you’ll need to check for power at the plug going into the board. You can do this by using a volt meter. Set the meter to read volts DC and put one probe on one of the terminals on the plug and touch the other probe to each of the other terminals on the plug. If you get voltage reading on any of those terminals, then you know that there is power getting to that plug and that it is not a problem with the harness going from that plug to the board.
If you don’t get any voltage readings, then you’ll need to trace back from where that harness goes into your refrigerator and check for continuity there. The harness should go into a connector block inside your refrigerator, so check continuity between each wire in that harness and each terminal in that connector block. If there is no continuity between any wire in that harness and any terminal in that connector block, then you’ll need to replace either your harness or your connector block (or both).
If you do have continuity between at least one wire in that harness and one terminal in that connector block, then trace back from where those wires go into your refrigerator until you find where they connect to something else. At that point, unplug whatever it is they connect to and use your multimeter again to test for continuity between each wire in your harness and each terminal on whatever it was you unplugged. If there is no continuity between any wire in your harness and any terminal on whatever it was you unplugged, then you’ll need to replace whatever it was you unplugged (or at least its harness).

Why is my Frigidaire refrigerator not cooling?

A Frigidaire refrigerator not cooling properly may have a dirty or damaged seal, allowing cold air to escape and warm air to enter. Assess the door seal for dirt and debris or signs of damage like rips or tears.

What number should my Frigidaire refrigerator be set at 1 9?

Ideally, you want to set your Frigidaire freezer to number 8 or 9. Frigidaire’s numeric system works from warmest to coolest, making 8 and 9 your freezer’s two coldest settings.

What would cause a refrigerator to stop getting cold?

Dirty condenser coils – Over time, the condenser coils can collect dirt, dust, and hair which hinder the coils’ ability to dissipate the heat from the refrigerant passing through the coils. This can cause the refrigerator to stop cooling.

What is the first thing to check when refrigerator stops working?

The first thing to check is the breaker (in your home’s electrical service panel) of the circuit serving the fridge. Most homes have a dedicated 20-amp circuit for the fridge alone, while older homes may have it on a general kitchen circuit.

What number should a fridge be on 1 7?

You can use the fridge temperature setting 1-7 on any type of your commercial fridge. I have also shared the temperature which is cold and better for the fridge. The best way to keep food cold is to keep it in the refrigerator: You should aim for a temperature range of 35°-38°F (or 1.7°-3.3°C).

Should quick freeze be on or off?

We recommend that you turn on the fast freeze function about three hours before placing the food in the freezer. Fresh food that is frozen at a normal rate will have larger ice crystals in it when compared to food that is fast frozen.

Does unplugging a refrigerator damage it?

The compressor will not start if you unplug and re-plug your refrigerator immediately. A build-up of pressure usually causes this. Since it is at the core of the refrigeration cycle, the compressor is critical. Plugging and unplugging the refrigerator right away can damage the compressor.

Why is my refrigerator warm?

If there are too many items in your fresh food compartment, that cold air may not circulate properly, resulting in a refrigerator that’s warm. It’s fairly common for a refrigerator to feel warm if it’s overstuffed, and this problem is obviously easy to resolve

What number should a Frigidaire refrigerator be set at?

For refrigerators with electronic controls (most Side-by-Side and French-Door refrigerators) – Fresh food compartment should be set for 37 degrees Fahrenheit and the freezer should be set for 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
