Set up your voicemail
Voicemail is set up on your phone automatically, and you can check your voicemail on your phone without any extra steps.
However, to check your voicemail from another phone, you need to turn on voicemail access from any phone and set a PIN.
Turn on voicemail access and set PIN
You can turn on voicemail access from any phone and set a PIN from either the Google Fi app or website. Here’s how:
- Open the Google Fi app .
- In the “Account” tab, under “Phone settings,” tap Voicemail.
- Turn on “Call to listen.”
- Enter your PIN and tap Save.
- Open the Google Fi website.
- On the left, click Settings Voicemail.
- Turn on “Call to listen.”
- Enter your PIN and click Save.
Set or change your voicemail greeting
You can record a greeting of your own or change one you’ve already created.
- Open the Google Fi app .
- In the “Account” tab, under “Phone settings,” tap Voicemail Manage greeting.
- To record your own greeting, tap the Microphone . You can record up to 40 seconds.
- If the app asks for permission to record audio, tap Allow.
- Tap Keep to save your greeting or Redo to record it again.
- Name your greeting and tap Save.
Change your voicemail greeting
On Android 6 (Marshmallow)
- Open the Google Fi app .
- In the “Account” tab, under “Phone settings,” tap Voicemail Manage greeting.
- Next to the voicemail you want to use, tap the Down arrow Set as active.

On Android 5 (Lollipop)
- Open the Phone app .
- Press and hold “1” to call your voicemail.
- Enter your PIN and press “#“.
- Press “*” for the menu.
- Press “4” to change settings.
- Press “1” to change your greeting.
- Follow the recorded instructions.
