CAUTIONThe Power Plug is the disconnecting device. In case of an emergency, the Power Plug must remain readily accessible.
Check the specification page of this owner’s manual to be certain of the current requirements.
Do not overload wall outlets. Overloaded wall outlets, loose or damaged wall outlets, extension cords, frayed power cords, or damaged or cracked wire insulation are dangerous. Any of these conditions could result in electric shock or fire. Periodically examine the cord of your device, and if its appearance indicates damage or deterioration, unplug it, discontinue use of the device, and have the cord replaced with an exact replacement part by an authorized service center. Protect the power cord from physical or mechanical abuse, such as being twisted, kinked, pinched, closed in a door, or walked upon. Pay particular attention to plugs, wall outlets, and the point where the cord exits the device.

CAUTION when using this product in environments of low humidity
- It may cause static electricity in environments of low humidity.
- It is recommended to use this product after touching any metal object which conducts electricity.
This device is equipped with a portable battery or accumulator.
How to Safely remove the batteries or the battery pack from the equipment:
To remove the old batteries or battery pack, follow the assembly steps in reverse order. To prevent contamination of the environment and bring on possible threats to human and/or animal health, the old batteries or the battery pack must be put in an appropriate container at designated collection points. Do not dispose of batteries or battery packs together with other waste. It is recommended that you use local, free reimbursement systems batteries or battery packs, (may not be available in your area). The batteries or the battery pack should not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, or the like.

Caution
Water-proof (IPX7)
This speaker is waterproof according to IPX7. IPX7 is Water-proof up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Speaker is a water-proof wireless speaker but it can be damaged. Avoid the cases below.
- Do not use the unit under water or other liquid.
- When the battery is charging, do not expose the unit to water.
- When exposed to water, wipe off it with a soft dry cloth.
- Ports are not water-proof. When you want a water-proof effect, close the port cover securely from left to right as follows.

Note
Because the button of the speaker is not touched system, press the button to use the speaker.
Operating
Connecting the AC Adapter
This speaker uses a built-in battery. Before using it, charge the battery by connecting the AC Adapter.
- Connect the supplied USB cable to the AC adapter.
- Connect the USB cable to the USB port of the speaker.
- Plug the AC adapter into an AC outlet.
If the battery is fully charged in charging mode, Battery LED is changed from red to green. After 15 seconds, Battery LED turns off.
Caution
AC adapter is not supplied.
It is recommended that you use the 5 V AC adapter approved by LG Electronics Inc. (more than 1.8 A) with this unit because of the danger of explosion. If you do not use the recommended adapter, charging is unavailable, or charging time may differ.
-Checking the charging status
When the speaker’s battery is charging, you can check the charging status by Battery LED.

Note
- Operating time is approx. 10 hours. (Based on fully charged the battery and continuous playback using 50 % volume level.) It may vary depending on the battery status and operational conditions.
- If you listen to the music while charging, it will take longer to charge.
- When the speaker is not charging by overheating, Battery LED turns on red and amber alternately. And charging is stopped.
- If the battery LED turns off, the speaker’s battery is fully charged.
-Checking Battery status
If the power is turned on, you can check the charging status by pressing any button on the speaker or changing the function. Then Battery LED light will change depending on battery charging status.

Note
If the speaker is connected to your smartphone, you can check the battery status by the smartphone. It may vary from actual battery capacity. (Only iOS devices).
Basic Operations
-Using the power button
Power On / Off
Press the 1 button.
-Bluetooth Connection
Play the desired music on the Bluetooth device. After pairing, you can control playback using the buttons on the unit. (page 11, 14-15)
-Bluetooth LED status
Check the Bluetooth LED blinks before connecting the Bluetooth device.

Note
Once pairing is performed, it does not need to be done again even if you turn off this unit.

You can receive incoming calls on your Bluetooth device to this unit. Connect the unit to a Bluetooth device.

Note
- Only a smartphone is available to use this function.
- To adjust the call volume, press the -,+ buttons on the unit.
- In Dual Play mode, you can receive a call on only the primary speaker due to audio howling. (Page 17)
- When an incoming call, it might ring the built-in ringtone depending on some Bluetooth device. (ex. iOS devices)
- In multi pairing mode, you can receive only one of the connected devices call on speaker. (page 16)
- If connect the call between multi paired Bluetooth device, hands-free is working incorrectly. (page 16)
- If you change portable mode on Bluetooth connection status, you can use this function.
- To use this mode, some of Bluetooth device needs to be changed to speaker mode on-call mode. (ex. iOS devices)
Listening to Music from Your External Device
The unit can be used to listen to music from many types of external devices.
- Connect the external device to the Portable In connector of the unit.
- Turn the power on by pressing the
button. - Turn the external device on and start playing.
Note
- When you connect the portable cable, the function is changed to portable in mode automatically.
- In Portable mode, the speaker limits Bluetooth connection to prevent unintended Bluetooth connection.
Using BLUETOOTH® technology
About BLUETOOTH
Bluetooth is a wireless communication technology for short-range connections.
The sound may be interrupted when the connection is interfered with by the other electronic wave or you connect the Bluetooth in the other rooms. Connecting individual devices under Bluetooth wireless technology does not incur any charges. A mobile phone with Bluetooth wireless technology
can be operated via the Cascade if the connection was made via Bluetooth wireless technology.

BLUETOOTH Profiles
In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, devices must be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with following profile. A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile)
-Pairing your unit and BLUETOOTH device
Before you start the pairing procedure, make sure the Bluetooth feature is turned on into your Bluetooth device. Refer to your Bluetooth device’s user guide. Once a pairing operation is performed, it does not need to be performed again.
- Turn on the unit then Bluetooth LED blinks with the sound.
- Operate the Bluetooth device and perform the pairing operation. When searching for this unit with the Bluetooth device, a list of the devices
found may appear in the Bluetooth device display depending on the type of Bluetooth device. Your unit appears as “LG PJs (xx)”. - Select “LG PJs (xx)”
Note
a.XX means the last two digits of the Bluetooth address. For example, if your unit has a Bluetooth address such as 9C:02:98:4A: F7:08, you will see “LG PJs (08)” on your Bluetooth device.
b.Depending on the Bluetooth device type, some devices have a different pairing way. Enter the PIN code (0000) as needed. - When this unit is successfully connected with your Bluetooth device, Bluetooth LED will turn on with the sound.
- Listen to music. To play music stored on your Bluetooth device, refer to your Bluetooth device’s user guide.
Controls connected Bluetooth device
You can control the connected Bluetooth devices from the unit; play, pause, skip.
Note
- Only Android OS and iOS are available to use this function.
- This function may not be supported depending on the Bluetooth device or operated differently.
- When using Bluetooth technology, you have to make a connection between the unit and the Bluetooth device as close as possible and
keep the distance. However, you may experience issues in the cases below :
– There is an obstacle between the unit and the Bluetooth device.
– There is a device using the same frequency with Bluetooth technology such as medical equipment, a microwave, or a wireless LAN device. - If the Bluetooth connection does not work well, go to step 1 of “Pairing your unit and BLUETOOTH device” and try again.
- The sound may be interrupted when the connection is interfered with by the other electronic wave.
- Depending on the type of device, you may not be able to use the Bluetooth function.
- You can enjoy Bluetooth function using Smartphone, Notebook, etc.
- The more distance between the unit and the Bluetooth device, the lower the sound quality becomes.
- The Bluetooth connection will be disconnected when the unit is turned off or the Bluetooth device gets too far from the unit.
- When the Bluetooth connection is disconnected, connect the Bluetooth device to the unit again.
- When you connect a Bluetooth device (iOS device etc.) to this unit or operate the device, the volume level can be synchronized with each other.
- When the unit is not connected, Bluetooth LED will blink.
Multi Pairing
The unit can be connected to two Bluetooth devices at the same time.
Pairing with Two Devices
- Connect the unit to a Bluetooth device.
- When the Bluetooth device and unit are connected, press and hold thebutton for 2 seconds. Then Bluetooth LED blinks with the sound. The unit is changed to multi-pairing mode.
- Select “LG PJs (XX)” from the device list on another Bluetooth device. Then the speaker is connected with two Bluetooth devices.
- When the connection of two Bluetooth devices is successful, Bluetooth LED will turn on.
Note
- When you use Dual Play mode, the multi pairing connection is not supported.
- You can connect this unit with up to 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously same method as the above description.
- When the speaker is ready for multi-pairing mode, you need to connect other Bluetooth devices and speakers within a few minutes (ex. 1 minute). Otherwise, the multi-pairing mode will be canceled.
- The multi pairing connection is only supported on Android devices. (Multi pairing connection may not be supported depending on the connected device specifications.)
- Removable/detachable Bluetooth device (Ex: Dongle etc..) doesn’t support multi pairing.
- Even if this unit is connected to up to 2 Bluetooth devices, you can play and control music by using only one of the connected devices.
- After a multi-pairing connection, it takes a little time for the music to be played depending on the Bluetooth devices.
- In the case of multi-pairing, two Bluetooth devices are not supported automatically connected. Only one Bluetooth device will be an automatically connected, speaker. The other device should be connected manually.
- If you get out of Bluetooth effective distance without disconnecting Bluetooth, it takes a few minutes to connect other Bluetooth devices. But after power off and on, you can connect to other Bluetooth devices without waiting.
Dual Play Connection (Optional)
You can enjoy the sound in stereo by using two speakers. For enjoying Dual play, you need to purchase another speaker.
- Press and hold each speaker’s button for 2seconds. Then the speakers are ready to Dual play mode.
– Beep sound is heard and Dual Play LED will bl white fast. - If two speakers are connected, blinking Dual PlaLEDs will stay white with a beep sound.
– A,speaker: Primary speaker is to set L (left channel and turns on Dual Play LED and Bluetooth LED.
– B,speaker: Secondary speaker is set to R (Right) channel and turns on Dual Play LED. ,
Note It takes up to one 1minute to connect to dual play. - Play the desired music on the Bluetooth device or external device.
Note
- Using Dual play is limited to the below model.
– Available PJ series model : 3, 8, 9 - If you have the same PJ model, the primary speaker is decided depending on speaker connection. (Portable>Bluetooth)
- If two speaker’s connections are equal, the primary speaker has decided arbitrarily.
- If you are not connected to a Bluetooth device, the primary speaker’s Bluetooth LED blinks.
- When you enjoy Dual Play, the multi pairing or woofer station connection is not supported.
– Primary speaker (A ) connects only one
Bluetooth device. - If you turn the power off and then on again, two speakers need to be reconnection for using dual play mode.
- If the units fail to connect Dual play, go to step 1 and try again.
- When the Dual Play connection is on processing, you cannot search the units on other Bluetooth devices.
- When you disconnect the Dual Play connection, press and hold the buttons for 2 seconds of one of the two speakers again.
- When you enjoy Dual Play, you can adjust the volume of both primary (A )and secondary (B ) speakers at the same time.
- Secondary speaker (B) will be disabled Bluetooth or Portable modes on Dual play mode.
- To change the Bluetooth device in Dual Play mode, press and hold j for 2 seconds to disconnect the current Bluetooth device and connect the desired Bluetooth device.
- In Dual Play mode, you can connect only the primary speaker( A) with the Bluetooth device.
- When you connect a Bluetooth device (iOS device etc.) to this unit or operate the device, the volume level can be synchronized with each other.
- In Dual Play mode, make the distance between the speakers as close as possible.
- Depending on the network environment, the Dual Play may not work well.
Other Operation
-Resetting
In case that the unit freezes due to malfunction, press the reset hole using an object like a thin pin. Then the speaker turns off. Press thebutton to try turning on the speaker again.
-Notice for Auto Power Off
When the unit is in Bluetooth mode without music playback for 15 minutes or in portable input mode without button operation for 6 hours, this unit is turned off automatically.

Handling the Unit
When shipping the unit
Please save the original shipping carton and packing materials. If you need to ship the unit, for maximum protection, re-pack the unit as it was originally packed at the factory.
Keeping the exterior surfaces clean
- Do not use volatile liquids such as insecticide spray near the unit.
- Wiping with strong pressure may damage the surface.
- Do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact with the unit for a long period of time.
Cleaning the unit
To clean the player, use a soft, dry cloth. If the surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine, or thinner, as these might damage the surface of the unit.
