L2 Pickup Instruction
Learn how to simply operate the L2 Pickup.
Adjust volume
- Turn the knob clockwise to increase the total volume.
- Turn the knob anti-clockwise to reduce the total volume.
Replace battery
- Place your guitar on a flat surface with the sound hole facing upward.
- Reach inside the sound hole to the preamp to open the battery compartment and gently removed the battery.
- Close the compartment gently with the new battery in place. The magnetic closing mechanism will ensure a tight seal.
Light status
Battery Reminder
- Switching from Mode 1 to Mode 2: Orange light flashes once, then stays on.
- Switching from Mode 2 to Mode 3, Orange light starts flashing.

Turn on/off
- Press and hold the volume knob (3 sec max) to turn on the FreeBoost, along with the Chorus and Reverb effects which can be dialled up or down as needed. The indicator light will turn Green.
- Press and hold again to turn off the FreeBoost. The indicator light will then go off.
Effect switch
- The Delay / Chorus switch is located on side of the preamp inside the sound hole. Slide this to Delay to engage this effect.
- Slide the switch the opposite way to engage the Chorus effect.
Note: Delay and Chorus cannot be engaged at the same time.
Adjust volume
- Turn the volume knob clockwise to increase the Output volume
- Turn the volume knob anti-clockwise to reduce the Output volume.
Note: The volume control will have limited impact on the overall sound until the LAVA ME 2 is amplified.
- Turn the effect knob clockwise to increase the Chorus and Delay effects.
- Turn the effect knob anticlockwise to reduce the Chorus and Delay effects.
Reverb volume
- Turn the Mic thumb wheel located on the side of the preamp clockwise, to increase the Percussive effects
- Turn the Mic thumb wheel anti-clockwise to reduce the percussive effects.
Percussion adjustment
- Turn the Mic thumb wheel located on the side of the preamp clockwise, to increase the Percussive effects.
- Turn the Mic thumb wheel anti-clockwise to reduce the percussive effects.

Battery reminder and Charging
Inside the soundhole, the USB port can be found on the side of the Preamp box. Use the Micro-USB cable to connect and charge the preamp
- Switching from Mode 1 to Mode 2, Greenlight turns off. Orange light flashes once, then stays on.
- Switching from Mode 2 to Mode 3, Orange light starts flashing.
Note: Please do not use the preamp while charging, as this will increase the required charging time.
How to change the strings
It will be necessary to replace the strings when they are damaged or shows signs of tarnishing/rust.
- Use the tuning heads to loosen and remove the strings.
- Hold the guitar string.
- Feed the rest of the string through the bridge to remove it.
- Insert the new strings through the bridge from the bottom end of the guitar, pulling them all the way through to the headstock.
- Insert the new strings into the hole on the string post, then turn the tuning heads to tighten.
Minor adjustment
The saddle can be sanded or replaced to adjust the string action according to your personal preference, without the need to modify the neck or body of the guitar.
- Turn the tuning heads to loosenthe string tension until the “Floating Saddle” can be removed from the bridge.
- Replace the saddle or prepare an 800-grit sandpaper, grasp the top of the saddle and use the sandpaper to gently polish the bottom side.
- Adjust the saddle height to achieve the desired action.
Lower the height of the saddle gradually and check frequently during sanding.
Do not adjust too quickly, when the saddle is too low or over-adjusted it can create a string buzz.
