FAQS
What’s in the box?
ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium, ecobee Smart Sensor, Backplate, Wire labels, Screws & drywall plays plugs, power extender kit (for sysytems without a c-wire), trim plate, and quick start guide
Does the eco bee work with a ac unit and a humidistats?
ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium, Smart Thermostat Enhanced1, Smart Thermostat with voice control, ecobee4, and ecobee3 support most common HVAC accessories such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and ventilators.
Is this new model backwards compatible with the old style sensors?
The old sensors will work in the ecobee app but will always show “No Response” in homekit. Can’t even remove them from homekit. Very annoying.
Will this work a heat pump?
Yes, and a humidifier
Does this have a fan only mode where the fan can be turned on without heating or cooling?
Yes
does it also play Pandora app? It plays the Spotify app…?
Yes it’s does!
Does this light up red like an evil angry ai when alexa is turned off?
The microphone is replaced by a red symbol when the microphone is turned off. Nothing is red if you don’t connect it to Alexa in the first place. The microphone is too good. From the next room over the Alexa on the thermostat responds even when I have an echo Within 3 feet of where I’m sitting.
Do it come with geofence?
you can set a geo fence
Will this thermostat work for a split system?
Yes it will work
Can u use to drop in to another echo device?
Yes sure!
Can the screen be locked, to prevent annoying non-residing family members from changing the temps of they’re too cold?
YeS, you can lock it with a security code.
Can you turn off the radar occupancy sensor?
If you look in the app you can turn off the follow me function. From my understanding it turns off the sensor.
is this available in white?
Yes only in white
Will it display in Celsius?
yes
Will this ecobee work with the wiring of my Honeywell T6 th6220wf2006?
Yes
Is there a delay in turning on the AC after lowering the thermostat?
Yes, always. Usually it’s let’s than fine 5 minutes, mostly if you have a heat pump system.
Is it better than ecobee 4?
If a higher resolution display, stainless steel frame, and an air quality monitor are important to you, then yes.
Does it come with a 4wire to 5-wire adaptor to “ create” the C wire for power to the thermostat?”
Yes.
Does this support both a humidifier and a dehumidifier?
Yes it can do both and also ventilation.
How is this version different from the ecobee 4?
It does accept drop in requests, but doesn’t permit you to make a drop in to other echos on your network. The work around is to just make an announcement, and have the person you’re wishing to speak with in the mansion drop in to your thermostat.
