The FinePix S5000:
Designed for Photographic Performance, Engineered for Exceptional Image Quality

The 4th-Generation Super CCD HR

Incorporating the latest 1/2.7-inch 4th-Generation Super CCD HR, the FinePix S5000 utilizes 3.1 million effective pixels for superb quality images of up to 2816 × 2120 (6.0 million) recording pixels. By boosting resolution through Fujifilm’s proprietary advanced miniaturization technology, the 4th-Generation Super CCD HR excels at reproducing highly detailed subject information. Together with its highly optimized image processor, this new photosensor ensures greater sensitivity, higher signal-to-noise ratio, and superbly true-to-life color reproduction, for images that are simply breathtaking.

Massive 22✕zoom range (10✕optical,2.2✕digital)

The FinePix S5000 features a new, high-performance 10✕ Fujinon zoom lens covering a remarkable focal length range of 37 – 370mm (35mm camera equivalent). Need to zoom in even more? The 2.2✕* digital zoom boosts total magnification up to 22✕, or a focal length equivalent of approximately 814mm. The optional 0.79✕ Wide Conversion lens and 1.5✕ Tele Conversion lens extend your shooting range even further. And newly designed Fujinon optics minimize chromatic aberration to assure crisp, clear, sharp images at all zoom settings.

Astonishing 22 ✕ Zooming Performance and SLR-Like Camera Design:

A Digital Camera That Inspires Photographic Confidence

Versatile exposure controls

The FinePix S5000 provides a choice of six exposure modes: Auto mode [AUTO] for the ultimate in ease, plus Programmed AE [P], Aperture-Priority AE [A] (a range of 13 aperture settings, from F2.8 to F8), Shutter-Priority AE [S] (1/1000 to 2 seconds), Manual [M], and Scene Position [SP] mode. The latter gives you instant access to four special preset program modes: Portrait, Landscape, Sports and Night Scene. To handle the widest possible variety of light conditions, the camera also offers three light metering choices: 64-TTL Multi, Spot, and Average.

Accurate, high-speed AF system

The FinePix S5000 employs a state-of-the-art AF system to make autofocus quicker and more precise than ever. An AF-Assist Illuminator* ensures accurate focus in low light or night scenes. And the AF Area Focus system lets you focus on specific areas within the frame, making composition easier and more flexible.

* Effective at 2m range

Wide range of ISO settings

With the FinePix S5000, you’re free to select an ISO-equivalent sensitivity of AUTO, 200, 400 or a very high-speed 800*, depending on subject and shooting conditions. The higher ISO settings excel at fast action and non-flash shooting in low-light conditions, as well as helping to prevent camera shake.

* When ISO 800 is selected, resolution is automatically set to 1280 x 960 pixels.

High-speed continuous shooting

To capture fast-moving subjects, the FinePix S5000 offers three high-speed continuous shooting modes: “Top 5-frame”
Continuous Shooting (5 frames/second when shutter button is pressed), “Final 5-frame” Continuous Shooting (5 frames/second just before shutter button is released*), and 1280 × 960-pixel “Long-period” Continuous Shooting (1.6 frames/second for up to 40 frames).

* While you can shoot up to 40 frames (5 frames/second for 8 seconds) in this continuous mode, only the five frames just before the shutter button is released are actually captured.

Manual shooting functions

For total creative freedom, the FinePix S5000 gives you a wide range of manual controls. They include manual white balance, exposure compensation (–2 to +2 EV in 1/3-EV increments), ISO sensitivity setting, auto-exposure bracketing, macro shooting (as close as 10cm), slow-synchro shooting, and more.

CCD-RAW data recording

In addition to the standard JPEG format, the FinePix S5000 can save captured images in CCD-RAW file format*. This option is especially valuable when you want to preserve the uncompressed image data.

* CCD-RAW files can be converted into TIFF files with the included RAW File Converter LE software.

Photo Mode button

A new Photo Mode button gives you control over all image quality parameters, including sensitivity (AUTO or MANUAL: ISO equivalent 200, 400, and 800), and color (Standard, Chrome, and B&W). The Chrome color setting, for example, slightly boosts contrast and saturation for a look that resembles color slide film. When reviewing images, this control can also be used to set DPOF for printing.

Movie recording function

The FinePix S5000’s movie mode offers about 14.6 minutes* of continuous video at a full 30 frames/second and including sound. Captured video images are smooth and highly detailed, and recorded in the Motion JPEG (AVI) format, so that you can also enjoy viewing each frame as a high-quality still image.

User-friendly 110,000-pixel electronic viewfinder

The user-friendly, high-resolution 110,000-pixel LCD electronic viewfinder (EVF) gives you a clear, bright preview of fully 90% of the frame. It also displays full information for each shot, including shot number, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO setting. For optimal viewing for any eyesight, the EVF includes a diopter adjustment dial.

Alternatively, you can switch the view to the large LCD display on the back of the camera. It employs a high-resolution 1.5-inch LCD monitor for crystal-clear, glare-free images.

Multi-language LCD display

The LCD menu can be displayed in any of six languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, or Japanese. In addition to its multilingual talents, the FinePix S5000 is compatible with both PAL and NTSC video formats, so your camera is at home any- where in the world.

xD-Picture Card™ support

Actual size

The FinePix S5000 is designed around the xD-Picture Card™ memory standard. Capacity of up to 512MB lets you record high-resolution images without worrying about memory limitations. With a compatible USB card reader or PC/CompactFlash™ card adaptor, xD-Picture Cards can be swapped freely among a wide range of computers and other devices.

Low power consumption for long battery life

Thanks to its power-saving design, the FinePix S5000 is capable of taking up to 260 shots* on a single set of four AA alkaline batteries.

* With the LCD turned off and using the flash for 50% of shots

SLR-like body design and great operational layout

The new body styling of FinePix S5000 combines smooth contours and comfortable ergonomics. The intelligent layout of the dial and buttons on top cover of camera makes operation remarkably simple and straightforward. Even high-end SLR camera enthusiasts will feel that here at last is a digital camera that inspires real photographic confidence.
