Connections

Base unit

  1. Connect the AC adaptor to the unit by pressing the plug firmly.
  2. Connect the telephone line cord to the unit until you hear a click.
  3. Fasten the AC adaptor cord and the telephone line cord by hooking it.
  4. Connect the AC adaptor to the power outlet.
  5. Connect the telephone line cord to the single-line telephone jack (RJ11C) until you hear a click.
  6. A DSL/ADSL filter (not supplied) is required if you have a DSL/ADSL service.
  7. Connect the corded handset cord to the corded handset and the base unit until you hear a click.
    Note: Use only the supplied Panasonic AC adaptor PNLV226.

  1. Connect the AC adaptor to the power outlet.

Charge for about 7 hours.

Note:

  • USE ONLY rechargeable Ni-MH batteries AAA (R03) size (A).
  • Do NOT use alkaline/manganese/Ni-Cd batteries.
  • Confirm correct polarities (+, -).
  • Follow the directions on the display to set up the unit.
  • Confirm “Charging” is displayed (B).

Soft keys

By pressing a soft key, you can select the feature shown directly above it on the display. Pay attention to the display to see what functions the soft keys are assigned during operation.

Navigator key

Handset:

  • , , , or : Scroll through various lists and items.
  • VOL. (Volume: or : Adjust the receiver or speaker volume while talking.
  • : View the phonebook entry.
  • REDIAL: View the redial list.
  • CID (Call Display): View the caller list.

Base unit:

  • VOLUME ( or ): Adjust the receiver or speaker volume while talking.
  • /: Repeat/skip messages during playback.

Date and time (Handset/Base unit)

  1. Enter the current month, date, and year. → [OK]
  2. Enter the current hour and minute (12-hour clock format).
  3. Proceed with the operation for your unit.

Recording your greeting message of the answering system (Handset/Base unit)

You can record your own greeting message instead of using a pre-recorded greeting message.

  1. After a beep sounds, speak clearly about 20 cm (8 inches) away from the microphone (2 minutes max.).
  2. Press [STOP] to stop recording.
  3. Proceed with the operation for your unit.
    Handset: [OFF]
    Base unit: [EXIT]

Does it have voicemail indicator?

When you have a new message on your voicemail, the screen will say ”vm message via phone co.”

If display shows “missed call,” how do you find the telephone number of the call you missed?

The main control button with the arrows pointing up, down left right, press down where it is imprinted CID. That stands for Caller ID. The missed call number(s) will be displayed on the screen. You then have the option to erase. Usually, if a caller does not leave a voice message it will be a telephone solicitation or scammer. You should have received an instruction manual with your phone that will describe all the functions.

Does phone have call waiting function?

The call-waiting feature is provided by the telephone company. It is a feature that usually comes in a package of features that can be added to your basic line that you are plugging the Panasonic phone into. There is probably an additional cost for this or possibly it may come as a bonus to you.

Do you know if the ac adapter suitable for 220va?

This will work only with 120 V AC, 60 Hz.

How about wifi does phone work

My phone is attached to Comcast cable service. It is physically attached to the cable box. I hope this answers your question.

What is the warrenty on this phone?

The warranty on this phone is 1 year.

What is the function of the locator button ?

It’s so you can find the portable phone if you forget where you left it somewhere in the house. When you push the button it makes a locator noise

Is the caller number the size of the clock display. Can you show me size of the calling #?

The caller ID is a smidgen larger than the clock display

Are the buttons rubber or hard plastic?

The buttons are made of rubber. -G as this work at 220 volts No, it will work with 120 V AC, 60 Hz.

How do you block a call?

You can block a call when it is calling, or after. You have to press on the CALL BLOCK button from the handset.

can you unblock a phone number?

Yes, you can unblock one specific phone number and also unblock ALL numbers in the call block list.

What is the difference between the KX-TGF870C and the KX-TGF872C?

The KX-TGF872C has a built in answering machine.

What is a speed dial number?

A speed dial number is a telephone number that you can dial easily by pressing one key (e.g., 1). You can store up to 20 speed dial numbers in each handset and base unit (total 40). It is recommended that you store frequently called numbers as speed dial numbers. You can also store frequently called numbers in your directory entries or speed dial groups (see “Speed Dial Group Setup”). However, if you wish, you can also store frequently called numbers in your directory entries or speed dial groups instead of using them as speed dial numbers. If there are already 20 speed dial numbers stored, you cannot store any more until some are deleted. If there are already 40 directory entries or speed dial groups stored, you cannot store any more until some are deleted. When storing a new speed dial number, delete an existing one first if necessary (see “Speed Dial Number Delete”). What is the difference between call waiting and call screening?
