What exactly is the Razer Sila router and how does it differ from traditional routers?
The Razer Sila is a tri-band gaming-grade Wi-Fi router with mesh capabilities. It has unique features like Razer FasTrack QoS, Fastlanes, and Smartlanes that traditional routers do not have.
What is included in the Razer Sila box?

What are the system requirements for the Razer Sila?

Is a Razer ID required to use the Razer Sila?
No. A Razer ID is only required if the setup and configuration of the Razer Sila will be done using the mobile app.
What is a valid password for the Razer Sila (Password requirements and limits)?
The factory default Wi-Fi and Admin passwords vary and are printed on the label located underside the Razer Sila.
What is the default password of my Razer Sila?
The default password for Web UI is “password”. The default Admin password is located on the underside of your Sila router. You can only change this password via the Web UI page.
How do I change the Razer ID password on my Razer Sila?
Your Razer ID password can be modified using the Razer Sila APP. Open the app and navigate to the account page and select edit your account.
How do I change the Web UI Admin password on my Razer Sila?
The default Web UI Admin password is located on the underside of your Sila router. You can only change this password via the Web UI page.
I forgot my password for the Web UI Razer Sila, what do I do?
You can perform a factory reset of the Razer Sila to recover to the default password. Performing a factory reset will erase the settings you stored and set the Sila back to the factory default settings.
Should I use a unified network name / SSID with my Razer Sila?
Yes! We recommend using a single or unified SSID. This will take care of reducing Wi-Fi congestion and maximizing throughput for all your devices. Using a single SSID lets Sila figure out the best band and channel for your device.
What are the factory default Wi-Fi and admin passwords for the Razer Sila?
A valid password is defined by the IEEE Standard 802.11i-2004, Annex H.4.1 as 8-63 characters long. Each character in the password must have an encoding in the range of 32 to 126 (decimal), inclusive.
Automatic password generators need to be limited to 63 characters as longer passwords will be truncated
What is the difference between the Admin password and the Wi-Fi password?
The Admin password is used to access the settings of the router on the Web UI. The Wi-Fi password is used by devices that want to access the Wi-Fi network.
How can I recover the password for my Razer Sila?
There is no way to recover a password, but they can be reset to their factory defaults. To perform a factory reset hold down the reset button for 5-40 seconds.
Will the Razer Sila work with all ISPs?
The Razer Sila will work with most ISPs in the world, but a special configuration may be required for some ISPs depending on the Optical Network Terminal (ONT), Optical Network Router (ONR), modem or gateway provided.

Is it difficult to set up a mesh network with the Razer Sila?
Definitely not. There is a step by step guide upon launching the Razer Sila Mobile app and set up should take only minutes.
What is the Maximum bandwidth speed?
The maximum download and upload speed are limited by the connection between you and your ISP provider.
What happens if the download bandwidth on the Razer Sila is set lower than what the ISP provides?
The Razer Sila will limit the maximum download bandwidth to the user-defined value and the QoS function will follow the bandwidth settings to manage the traffic.
Why is a unified network name or SSID should be used with Razer Sila?
Single Service Set Identifier (SSID) is recommended because this will reduce Wi-Fi congestion and maximize throughput for all connected devices. It also allows the Razer Sila to easily seek out the best band and channel for the devices.
How can I configure the Razer Sila?
You can download the Razer Sila app by visiting the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and searching for Razer Sila.
Once you have downloaded the app you can select to sign in to the app or sign up for a new account. When signing up for a new account you will be asked to create a Razer account or you can use your existing Razer ID.
How do I download and sign up for the Razer Sila App?
You can configure the Razer Sila via a Web UI. We also offer the Razer Sila mobile app which you can download from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
How many devices can Razer Sila support?
The Razer Sila can support up to 240 client devices in simultaneous operation, depending on the environment and how close the clients are to Sila. However, for devices that are running data-intensive applications, it is recommended that less than 50 devices per Sila be used to avoid performance problems.
Why do applications that are running disappear from real-time traffic management on the Razer Sila when there’s no traffic?
This is expected behavior from the Razer Sila. These applications will not appear if there is no traffic to them.
Example scenario:
- Launch an application (e.g. Outlook)
- Go to Traffic Management > Real-Time traffic management, Outlook should appear
- Wait till there’s no traffic from Outlook app (0kbps), after a few seconds it disappears from the list.
What is a DLNA router and why is it needed?
Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is a non-profit trade organization started by Sony. It is designed to act as a bridge between various bits of kit, watch a film from the PC to the big-screen TV, play an MP3 from a smartphone in stereo, or send shots from a family photo album to the wireless printer via tablet.
Note: Razer Sila Supports UPnP (DLNA-compatible devices use UPnP to communicate).
What’s the difference between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz in wireless technology on the Razer Sila?
2.4 GHz offers better range and capable of reaching through a variety of wall thicknesses. 5 GHz generally provides higher data rates compared with 2.4 GHz. One potential weakness with 5 GHz signals is it does not generally travel as far as 2.4 GHz signals.
For optimum performance, you need to ensure that your devices are located relatively close to your Sila, without too many interfering objects between the device and the unit itself.
What is Band and Client Steering?
“Dual-band” Wi-Fi devices can connect to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi networks. With Band steering, your Razer Sila will help direct these devices to either the 2.4GHz network if the range is a problem, or to the “best” 5GHz network if more performance is needed. Band steering allows you to have one Wi-Fi network name and allow Razer Sila’s to allocate devices to the 2.4GHz network and the two 5GHz networks.
What is Beamforming in the Razer Sila? Explicit Beamforming?
Beamforming may help under certain environment for devices that support 802.11ac.
In the real world, 802.11ac will most likely be known for its ability to offer quicker speeds at the range. 802.11ac accomplishes this by using the 5GHz frequency, up to 160MHz bandwidth and a technology called Beamforming. Put simply, a router and a device (Phone or Laptop for example) that both contain Beamforming technology will seek one another out. This drastically increases data throughput between the two devices, whilst also lowering power consumption (the transfer will take less time).
The Razer Sila can “point” its antenna arrays at a client to provide better reception, range, and throughput while minimizing interference. This technique is known as explicit beamforming.
Explicit beamforming has existed for some time but was difficult to use because many manufacturers used different, incompatible versions. IEEE 802.11ac standardizes explicit beamforming technology so that routers, access points, and wireless clients from all conforming manufacturers can use the technology’s full capacity. Explicit beamforming only applies to devices that are operating in the 5GHz bands
Explicit beamforming can be controlled by the mobile app, under Advanced Features section, or by a web browser, under Wireless Configuration.
Will the signal of the Razer Sila go through walls?
Depending on the material of the wall construction, a Radio Frequency (RF) signal may be able to penetrate non-reinforced concrete walls with a relative near distance of three to five meters from the Razer Sila. However, it will have difficulty penetrating another concrete or brick wall after the first wall. As for wooden walls, the RF signal will penetrate with much ease.
Why does the list of devices connected to my Razer Sila’s LAN/Wi-Fi and the list in the MAC Filtering Exception list not match?
The list is updated from the cloud every 90sec and will match after the sync occurs.
Why do some devices show as “Online” but they are not connected to the Razer Sila network?
It will take 90 seconds or longer before the device is removed from the list.
What is the distance the Razer Sila would sense radar signals and switch off DFS, and what is the pre-determined amount of time before DFS switches back?
Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) allows devices to share the 5GHz frequency bands.
The requirements are based on the signal strength and not on distance. Generally, your Razer Sila will need to be within two to three miles of strong radar signal to force a change of channel. The Raze Sila can force devices to jump to another DFS channel (or non-DFS if needed) within 200ms and will not allow devices to return to a channel where radar was present for more than 30 minutes until the radar is no longer detected.
How much range or coverage does one Razer Sila can provide?
The Razer Sila can cover up to 3000sq/ft depending on house conditions and wall material.
Does the Razer Sila replace my ISP internet service?
The Razer Sila does not provide internet service. Razer Sila provides a Wi-Fi network to enable your home devices to connect to your internet service. You will still need to find a local Internet Service Provider.
How secure is the Razer Sila Router and the app?
The Razer Sila features Wi-Fi Security protocols WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK.
How do I receive software / firmware updates for the Razer Sila?
The Razer Sila will automatically receive updates when there is no traffic on the system. This usually occurs sometime around 4 am in the morning.
What is a WAN, VLAN and LAN within the Razer Sila?
WAN (Wide Area Network) refers to the public connection to the internet. For example, the WAN IP Address is the public IP address used on the internet to communicate with the router
LAN (Local Area Network) refers to the private network of devices that are connected to your router. The private (non-routable) IP address of devices in the LAN have ranges of 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255 and 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255 and 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) A VLAN is a method of creating separate Local Area Networks on the same router for security and segmentation purposes. VLAN setup is a useful procedure if you have some devices on your network that you want to isolate from other devices like multiple guest networks for family friends or office visitors.
What is a Mesh Network?
A Mesh Network allows ease of extending Wi-Fi coverage to the entire house while providing a seamless handover of the Wi-Fi signal from one router to the next.
What should I do if Speed Test indicates my internet speed is slow?
Before you contact your internet service provider (ISP) or mobile carrier, check to see if you’re running any ongoing downloads or other programs like video chat that might be hogging your bandwidth. Close those and test again. If your Speed Test result still seems slow, reboot your phone or computer, modem, and router. Then ensure FasTrack is enabled. The traffic will be prioritized from different application & device to provide smoothest gaming experience.
What is “DNS” within the Razer Sila?
The Domain Name System (DNS) is the phonebook of the Internet. Humans access information online through domain names, like google.com or espn.com. Web browsers interact through Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. DNS translates domain names to IP addresses so browsers can load Internet resources.
Each device connected to the Internet has a unique IP address which other machines use to find the device. DNS servers eliminate the need for humans to memorize IP addresses such as 192.168.1.1 (in IPv4), or more complex newer alphanumeric IP addresses such as 2400:cb00:2048:1::c629:d7a2 (in IPv6.
This translation of human-readable domain names to IP address occurs in the internet and can add delay to transmissions. To speed this up, Razer Sila contains a cache that contains the most recent and frequent translations that your network uses.
What is DDNS with the Razer Sila?
DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) It’s a service that maps internet domain names to IP addresses. Very similar to DNS. However, DNS is designed to use Static IP address; IP addresses that do not change over time. While DDNS can work with IP addresses are dynamic, or change over time. DDNS is designed to also support dynamic (changing) IP addresses, such as those assigned by a DHCP server. That makes DDNS a good fit for home networks, which normally receive dynamic public IP addresses from their internet service provider.
DDNS is a good fit for users who would like to access their networks remotely, set up a server behind the router, or host their own website, yet retain the default Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) configuration of the router instead of using a static IP Address.
The DHCP is a router function that changes the IP Address of connected devices periodically. This makes the network inaccessible to hackers or intruders since they do not know what the network’s IP Address is at any given time, but the owner of the network can implement a DDNS service so that he/she can access the network anytime.
Note: To use the DDNS feature of your router, begin by signing up with a DDNS provider such as www.dyndns.org or www.no-ip.com. Razer Sila routers support DynDNS and No-IP DDNS service providers.
Where should I add a 2nd Razer Sila to create the best mesh network and coverage?
This is very dependent on the exact environment, but here is a tip that should help.
- We suggest you configure the mesh network and place the Razer Sila in your preferred location.
- After 3-5min the Razer Sila’s LED should light up GREEN.
- Use the Razer Sila AP and open the setting page.
- Navigate to the Mesh Connection Quality section which will check the quality of the Mesh.
- Ensure the quality level is within the Acceptable Criteria as noted by the App. If not, you may want to relocate the router to obtain optimal performance.
Note: A poor rating will still work, but internet speed may be affected.
How many Razer Sila routers are needed to cover the entire home’s network?
Every home presents different challenges for radio signals.
- For most situations a single Razer Sila placed higher than most of the furniture will cover a single floor in a large home of modern construction.
- Plaster, brick, tile, and cement greatly reduce the strength of Wi-Fi radio signals.
- Floor construction would also make the Wi-Fi signals difficult to propagate. In large multi-story homes, you may require a Razer Sila for each floor or two.
- Cement and brick-walled basements will typically require a dedicated Razer Sila.
Will the Razer Sila work in all countries?

The Razer Sila auto-locates which country it is operating in and will adjust its RF setting to comply with the appropriate regulations. Razer Sila will work well as a router in all countries, but its DFS channels (Fastlanes) feature operates only in countries where it has been specifically approved to do so.

How does the Internet Speed Test work in the Razer Sila Mobile App?
The Razer Sila performs the speed test from the WAN port to your ISP. The maximum possible speed that can be achieved will be determined and Sila will use this value to set QoS bandwidth optimization. Make sure your phone is close to the router.
What is the warranty period of the Razer Sila?

What factors may impact the internet speed test results on Razer Sila?
The test measures the speed between your device and the test server, using your device’s internet connection. There are several factors that can affect the speed test results:
- Devices vary in Wi-Fi and cellular radio capabilities, and MIMO stream handling quality between devices. This means that yours may get a better result than the other devices even when using the same provider.
- Network congestion and available bandwidth during the time you performed the speed test.
Does the Razer Sila have remote web management to access it outside its network?
The Razer Sila does not support remote management via a browser. However, you can use the Razer Sila app to manage the Razer Sila.
Does the Razer Sila support PPPoE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet)?
Yes, the Razer Sila supports PPPoE using the web browser interface. Follow the steps below to enable this feature.
- Point to the URL to “sila.razer.com” or “192.168.8.1” on your web browser. We recommend using the URL sila.razer.com as it offers better security.
- This will redirect you to the admin menu where you will need to enter the admin password. The default password is the “password”.
- Select “WAN IP” from the menu on the left.
- Enable the “My internet connections to require a username and password” from under the Connection Accessibility tab.
- Enter the “Username”, “Password” and the optional “service name” if necessary.
- Click on the “Apply” button.
Troubleshooting
Why am I not able to see some of the attached devices on the home page of the Razer Sila App?
Devices indicated on the home page are for those that have a connection to the world wide web. Some old devices that do not access the web will not be shown on the home page, for example, old network printers.
If you want to view a list of attached devices on the Local LAN, you can access the Web UI and check under LAN > Attached Devices.
Why do I receive an unsecured site warning message when I access the Razer Sila Web UI via the gateway IP address?
Try to access the Razer Sila Web UI by opening a browser and enter sila.razer.com instead of 192.168.8.1 on the address bar as it offers better security.
Why do some devices show as “Online” but they are no longer connected to the Razer Sila network?
In normal situations, the Razer Sila would usually take 90 seconds or longer before a device is removed from the list.
What’s an acceptable ping (or latency) for online gaming?
If you’ve ever noticed that another player always seems to have the jump on you, that might be because they have a faster ping. Here’s a rough guideline:
- Winning: 0-59 ms
- In the game: 60-129 ms
- Struggling: 130-199 ms
- Game over: 200+ ms
My Razer Sila is no longer detected after trying to add it as a mesh to a remotely accessed Sila network. What should I do?
If this should occur, please press the RESET button on the back of Razer Sila for 5-40 seconds to restore the device.
Note: this will erase all user settings.
Why do applications that are running disappear from real-time traffic management on the Razer Sila when there is no traffic?
I most cases, applications will not appear if there is no traffic associated with them.
Example scenario:
- Launch an application for example Outlook.
- Go to “Traffic Management” > “Real-Time traffic management”, Outlook should appear.
- Wait till there is no traffic from Outlook app (0kbps), after a few seconds it disappears from the list.
The Razer logo stays red, right out of the box. What should I do?
A customer may complain that they are not able to initially setup their Razer Sila because the Razer Logo will not turn green and will only stay Red.
This may happen to some brand new units in the initial release of the Razer Sila. This can affect serial numbers from 141811xxxxxxxxx to 141837xxxxxxxx.
Should a customer report this please have the customer perform a factory reset. To perform a factory reset please refer to How can I reset the Razer Sila Router?
It may be necessary to power on and off the customer’s modem and the Razer Sila if the reset alone does not solve the problem.
Does the Razer Sila support both 2.4 and 5 GHz?
Yes, the Razer Sila supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz bandwidths.
Why is a device cannot be seen by the Razer Sila using the 5GHz channel?
Not all devices can operate in 5GHz Fastlanes DFS channels provided by the Razer Sila due to the limitations of their radios. However, the Razer Sila has a “Compatibility Mode” which essentially changes the channels to allow devices to have the best performance possible.
Why is the internet speed slower when FasTrack is enabled?
Razer Sila will always allocate a minimum of 10% of the bandwidth and reserve it as a buffer for Applications with QoS priority category that is set very high.
If Gaming Mode is enabled, gaming will be automatically given the highest priority and 30% of the bandwidth is reserved for gaming flow (online games, game streaming or gaming devices).
Third-party internet speed test websites and apps (for example www.speedtest.net) are classified as “Normal Traffic”. As such, maximum ISP speed may not be achieved when FasTrack or Gaming Mode is enabled. If neither FasTrack nor Gaming Mode is turned on, then the full ISP speeds will be available to the user.
Why am I not able to access the Razer Sila when the Razer ID service is down?
The Razer Sila app is dependent on the Razer ID service. If there is any service interruption and you try to login during the outage, you will be prompted to set up the Razer Sila again.
Once the Razer ID services resume, you should not see a prompt to create a new network setup.
Why is the Blade Pro’s Ethernet port not recognized as a gaming device in the QoS device list of the Razer Sila?
Due to the limitations of the QoS recognition engine, it is unable to detect the LAN port of Razer laptops. The good news is you can manually change the app’s configuration to leverage a gaming status for the device during the device prioritization.
Follow the steps outlined below:
- Under the Razer Sila APP navigate to, “Connected Devices”.
- The laptop will be identified as “General Device”.
- Select the device detail info.
- Go to “Type” and select “Razer Laptop”.
- Then click “Apply”.
This will identify the device as a gaming device under the General Traffic identifications. The Razer Laptop will then be given the highest priority.
Why is the Razer Sila app unable to access the Razer Sila router?
This is due to the communication between the Razer Sila and the Razer cloud server is not working properly. The app may show that the Razer Sila router is offline, even though the THS logo is either blinking blue or green and is functional without any issues. Under normal conditions, the Razer Sila will self-recover within one and a half hours. If the issue persists, turn off the Razer Sila and power it on again after 10 seconds.
Razer Sila app will not launch on phone. What should I do?
The Razer Sila app will not launch on your phone issue could be caused by an incorrect connectivity setting. Follow the steps outlined below to solve this issue:
- Open the Razer App.
- Close the app and try to relaunch the app.
- If the issue persists, restart the phone.
- Open the Razer Sila app right after restarting the phone.
- Check and verify the network status where the phone is connected to.
- Toggle the WiFi and Bluetooth to off and on.
- Try to relaunch the app.

Does the Razer Sila support NAS (Network Attached Storage)?
Yes, this is supported by the Razer Sila. This feature gives the ability to quickly add additional storage and to share files or folders within the network.
Should the existing Wi-Fi router or gateway be turned off when using the Razer Sila?
The Razer Sila will detect and avoid all existing Wi-Fi networks, so there is not much performance reason to turn off the existing Wi-Fi router or gateway.
Is Razer Sila compatible with another router or extender?
Razer Sila is based on the IEEE 802.11s standard but has not been tested with other routers supporting IEEE 802.11s. Most mesh routers and extenders are specific to a product and do not strictly adhere to IEEE 802.11s.
Does the Razer Sila support additional external storage?
Yes, additional external storage is supported on the Razer Sila. A USB drive with FAT32, exFAT or NTFS format will work, but only the first partition of the drive will be recognized if it is partitioned.
How many ethernet ports are available on the Razer Sila?
The Razer Sila features three ethernet ports.
Does the Razer Sila connectivity support share printing?
No, print server functionality is not supported on the Razer Sila’s USB connection.
Does the Razer Sila come with Chroma integration?
No, there is no Chroma lighting or effects on the Razer Sila.
Can a mesh network be set up using the Portal Router and the Razer Sila?
No. The Razer Sila does not support the Portal router.
Can a switch be added to the Razer Sila?
Yes, one or multiple switches can be added to Razer Sila.
What is Tri-Band within the Razer Sila?
The Razer Sila has nine built-in antennas that are dedicated to support the following three (Tri-band) spectrums concurrently:
- 2.4GHz: 2×2 antennas support a maximum rate of 400Mbps.
- 5GHz High Band (5490-5835Mhz): 2×2 antennas support a maximum rate of 866Mbps.
- 5GHz Low Band (5150-5330Mhz): 4×4 antennas support a maximum rate of 1732Mbps.
What do the colors of the Razer Sila’s LED mean?
The indicator LED shows Razer Sila’s behavior and internet connectivity.
- Red – Passed the power-on self-test and offline.
- Blue – Connected to the internet and determine if an update is available for install.
- Blue (Blinking) – Connecting to the internet, pairing for mesh, resetting to default or upgrading firmware.
- Green – Connected to the internet and operating correctly.
- Green (Bright) – Online and QoS is enabled.
Is it possible to use the Razer Sila as an access point in conjunction with an existing router?
Yes. The Razer Sila can be set up as an access point and can be used in conjunction with an existing router.
How many Razer Sila routers can be added to a mesh network?
There can be a total of three Razer Sila routers co-existing in a mesh network.
Can two Razer Silas operate in a mesh network if an Ethernet cable is connected in between?
Yes. In this case, the LAN will be used as a backhaul between the Silas.
Can I use the Razer Sila with VOIP phone services?
Yes, you can definitely use VOIP phone services with Razer Sila, but Ooma and Vonage do have some older models that must be attached directly in front of the router which further details should be referred to Ooma and Vonage support sites.
Will putting 3 Razer Silas in a mesh create a network loop?
No. The meshed 3 Razer Silas are logically in either star, bus or combination of both network topologies where looping is not possible.
Is it possible to use the Razer Sila as a replacement for the Google fiber network box?
No. Razer Sila cannot be used as a substitute for Google Fiber Network Box, because it is not optimized to work with Google Fiber Jack. Therefore, it will not provide a proper internet connection.
How is a mesh different from an extender?
Wireless repeaters and mesh networks are both technologies that can be used to extend network coverage of a given area. Wireless extenders work by taking an existing wireless signal and re-broadcasting or repeating it, while Mesh networks see every device on a network directly connected to every other device without the use of a central router or switch and it offers easier setup and seamless roaming for mobile devices.
Why did the Razer Sila WAN port become a LAN port after configuring in mesh mode?
Once the Razer Sila is set up in mesh it will now be configured in Bridge Mode and is taking IP addresses from the main router which also makes the DHCP not to operate causing the WAN port to become an additional LAN port. Thus, the WAN port if directly connected to a LAN port of the Main router will become the backbone.
What is “QoS” within the Razer Sila?
QoS stands for “Quality of Service.” In computer networking, it refers to traffic prioritization and resource reservation control mechanisms.
It is the ability to provide different priority to different applications, users, data flows or to guarantee a certain level of performance to a specified data flow. The Razer Sila features Razer’s FasTrack QoS Engine.
Why does the Quality of Service (QoS) engine of the Razer Sila does not recognize the Razer Blade when using a USB-Network Adapter?
The USB-Network Adapter has its own MAC address. Therefore, the router cannot recognize the Razer Blade laptop because it is receiving third-party information.
Will Razer Sila’s client roaming still work if ethernet backhaul is used?
Yes, client roaming will still work even if the ethernet backhaul setup is used.
Does Razer Sila’s dedicated wireless backhaul work simultaneously with ethernet backhaul?
No, it will not work simultaneously. Only the ethernet will be recognized as the backhaul if both the ethernet and wireless are active.
Would three Razer Silas be able to operate in mesh network if they are all connected to one network switch?
It is only possible if the Razer Silas’ mesh network setting is preconfigured using the Razer Sila app. If not, the routers will be set automatically to bridge mode to avoid IP address conflict.
What type of printers will work with the Razer Sila?
The Razer Sila does not provide printer server functionality. Currently, most of the printers on the market are network printers and support SMB for windows and AirPrint for iOS and macOS.
How do I connect the Razer Sila to the Wi-Fi/modem /router that is provided by my internet provider?
Simply connect the LAN port of your Modem/router to the WAN port of the Razer Sila. Then follow the basic set up instructions within the Razer Sila App.

Why can’t I my Razer Sila when the Razer ID service is down?
The Razer Sila App is dependent on the Razer ID service. If there’s any service interruption and the user tries to login Sila App during the outage, you will be prompted to setup the Razer Sila again (ie. create a new network) setup.
Once the Razer ID services resumes, your should not see the prompt to create a new network setup.
Why can’t I see or change a specific setting in the Web UI of my Razer Sila?

Will there be an indication in terms of Razer Sila icons if separate wireless SSIDs are used?
No. To check the status of SSID, go to the Razer Sila “Settings”.
Can Razer Sila be accessed or managed outside its network?
Yes, but it is only accessible via the Razer Sila app and the phone you are using should be connected to the internet within the same region as the router, may it be via mobile data or other wireless networks.
What can be seen in the Razer Sila app if multiple Razer Silas are in mesh?
The app’s main page will show the number of Razer Sila routers that are currently in the network. So, if there are three meshed routers, the same number of Razer Sila Router icons must also be in the display.
Does the Razer Sila support the Geo-filtering feature?
No. The Razer Sila does not support Geo-filtering.

How is the “Client Roaming” feature called in Razer Sila?
The client roaming feature within Sila is called “Client Steering” where it forces the client to switch over to the strongest available network, but the decision of switching networks depends on client devices.
What is Beamforming in the Razer Sila?
Beamforming may help under certain environments for devices that support 802.11ac. 802.11ac will most likely be known for its ability to offer quicker speeds at a range. It accomplishes this by using the 5GHz frequency, up to 160MHz bandwidth.
A router and a device (phone or laptop for example), that have Beamforming technology will seek one another out to focus the Wi-Fi signal. This drastically increases data throughput between the two devices, while also lowering power consumption.
Why is a device detected as “General Device” on the Razer Sila app?
It is normal for some devices to come up as “General Device” whenever they are connected to the Razer Sila for the first time, because the identification process may take a while. Just keep the device connected to the internet via Razer Sila.

What is the Internet Speed Test on the Razer Sila?
It measures the speed between the WAN port to ISP of the Razer Sila.
How does the Razer Sila app internet speed test work?
The Razer Sila performs the speed test from the WAN port to ISP. Thus, the maximum possible speed that can be achieved will be determined and Razer Sila will use this value to set QoS bandwidth optimization.
Note: Make sure that the phone is close to the router when performing a test.
Why am I getting different speeds between my computer and my phone when using Speed Test?
Speed Test is measuring your real-time network connection, so tests taken within a few minutes of each other might vary based on network congestion and available bandwidth. If your Speed Test results are significantly different, make sure that you’re:
Testing the same connection. If one device is on Wi-Fi and the other is not, you’re testing the speeds of different connections.
Note: There are large variations in Wi-Fi and cellular radio quality and MIMO stream handling quality between devices. These variations can cause a device to deliver slower test results than another device or computer.
Does the Razer Sila support Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)?
Wi-Fi Protected Setup has been found to contain a significant security flaw. For this reason, it has not been included in Razer Sila.
In the Razer Sila Mobile App, there is a test for Mesh connection quality. What does the “test” do to measure the quality?
The 1st router measures the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) received from the second router and will determine the scope of the coverage as below.
- “Too Close” – The Wi-Fi mesh node should be moved further away from the root node.
- “Optimal Coverage” – The Wi-Fi mesh node provides optimal coverage and bandwidth at this location.
- “Acceptable Coverage” – The Wi-Fi mesh node provides acceptable coverage and adequate bandwidth for most applications.
- “Poor Coverage” – move Wi-Fi mesh node closer to the root node.
Why does the list of devices connected to Razer Sila’s LAN or Wi-Fi and MAC Filtering Exception did not match?
The list will be updated from the cloud every 90 seconds and will match after the sync occurs.
Is MAC filtering available on the Razer Sila?
Yes, MAC filtering is available on the Razer Sila.
Will Razer Sila be affected by VPNFilter malware?
The Razer Sila will not be affected by this specific malware since it is using remote management access through WAN which is not supported. The firmware within the Razer Sila is also updated regularly in response to threats and other updates.
Razer continues its efforts to make Sila among the most secure routers.
What happens if an admin user in the Razer Sila Mobile app is removed?
To remove the associated Network from your phone please open the Mobile app and click in the top right corner icon and press “Remove Network”.
Please note, that the current setting of the router will remain intact. When another mobile device become the admin of the router, all setting will remains as previously set if you do not change the SSID.
How do I unpair the Razer Sila on my mobile phone?
It will remove the association of the mobile phone with the router. However, the last saved settings within the router will remain.
Note: If there is a need to remove last-saved settings just press the reset button at the back of the Razer Sila.
Does the Razer Sila support IPv6?
Yes, the Razer Sila supports basic Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).
Does the Razer Sila feature bandwidth control?
Yes, the Razer Sila has a FasTrack QoS system that manages the given bandwidth to assign priority to each category either by default or defined by the user.
Where is the default configuration information of Razer Sila?
The default configuration can be found by using either via the Razer Sila app or Web UI. However, a more comprehensive configuration resides in the Web UI.
What is a Firewall?
A firewall is a security feature that monitors the incoming and outgoing traffic of your network. It is designed to protect unauthorized traffic to and from your network.
Can the Razer Sila’s firewall be turned off?
No. The firewall within Razer Sila cannot be turned off, but it has a feature called DMZ which exposes all the TCP and UDP ports of the connected device to the internet.
Can an IP subnet range be defined on the Razer Sila when establishing a DMZ?
No. The Razer Sila will support a single DMZ host and not a subnet.
Is the Razer Sila viewable in Razer Synapse?
No, Razer Synapse does not support Razer Sila.
Is the Razer Sila app available for IOS and Android?
Yes, the Razer Sila is supported on both IOS and Android devices.
How does the Razer Sila enhance the gaming experience?
There are multiple features of Razer Sila why it greatly enhances every gaming experience.
- With Razer FasTrack QoS, users are able to prioritize traffic type, applications, and games, as well as individual or group devices. The result helps ensure that you have control over which devices and applications are using your bandwidth.
- With Fastlanes, the Sila router has access to special DFS channels that traditional routers do not have. These channels are typically clearer than traditional Wi-Fi channels.
- Utilizing Smartlanes, the router scans for less congested channels and will automatically switch to them.
- With a dedicated backhaul that can also use DFS channels, client devices will not experience a drop in throughput. You, therefore, end up with more consistent, lag-free Wi-Fi speeds.
What is Razer FasTrack?
The Razer FasTrack is Razer’s QoS engine with traffic type priority (for example, online games, streaming, file transfer), application priority (for example, Fortnite, Netflix, BitTorrent), and device priority (for example, Razer Laptop, Gaming Device, SmartTV, SmartPhone).
Is there a Gaming Mode with the Razer Sila?
Yes, it can be turned on via the Razer Sila app or Web UI. When turned on 30% of the bandwidth will be dedicated to gaming apps and devices and scale up accordingly as needed.
Why do online devices take 3-10 seconds before they appear on the Razer Sila mobile app?
The Razer Sila engine will need some time to detect the online traffic of the devices to determine if it is online or offline. This process may take up to 10 seconds.
What is DMZ?
A DMZ (De-Militarized Zone) allows a device to be completely visible to anyone on the internet. A device in a DMZ will open all of its ports to internet queries and pings and not be protected by the router’s firewall.
This is useful in situations where fileservers, web servers, or VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) communications equipment is run from a home network rather than the cloud. For online gamers, a DMZ will isolate gaming consoles and keep them outside the firewall (router), making them visible to other gamers on the internet.
UPnP and Port Forwarding are alternatives that only open specific ports of the device to the internet rather than all of them. This provides slightly greater protection and security for your network.
A DMZ is most appropriate when more than one router is present in a network.
What is “Port Forwarding” within the Razer Sila?
Port forwarding is a way of making a client device on your home network accessible to computers on the internet, even though the device(s) are behind a router and its firewall. It is commonly used in gaming, security camera setup, Voice over IP, and downloading files. After you have forwarded a port you are said to have an open port.

What is double NAT’ed mean?
Double NAT means that instead of having just one private network, your system has both private WAN and LAN networks. This happens when multiple devices (usually routers) are performing Network Address Translation. Features like UPnP and Port Forwarding will not work correctly when the network is double NAT’ed.
Online gaming, access to secure sites with SSL, and configuring port forwarding and triggering can all be affected by double NAT. If you are having any problems with these types of activities but you can still connect to the internet and perform other tasks, double NAT is likely the cause of your problems.
What are the symptoms when the Razer Sila is double NAT’ed?
When your Razer Sila is double NAT’ed it will operate correctly for accessing the internet and operating your Wi-Fi network. However, things like remote access, UPnP and Port Forwarding will not work correctly. This means that any programs that need these things will not operate correctly. For example, BitTorrents, VPNs, VoIP, in-app chat, and peer-to-peer gaming.
What is UPnP?
UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is a networking protocol that enables simple and seamless integration with devices in your network.
Is UPnP enabled by default on the Razer Sila?
UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is disabled by default within the Razer Sila Router.
You can enable it by accessing the Web UI and navigating to Firewall / Port Forwarding > UPnP.

How do I determine if my Razer Sila Router is double NAT’ed?
To determine if you Razer Sila is double NAT’ed you can use the mobile app or a web browser to examine the WAN IP Address that it was assigned. If this is a private IP address, the Razer Sila is double NAT’ed. A private IP address will have ranges of 10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255 and 172.16.0.0 to 172.31.255.255 and 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255
To use the mobile App:
- From the main screen select the internet.
- If the WAN IP Address starts with 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x your network is double NAT’ed.
To use the web browser:
- Point to the URL sila.razer.com or 192.168.8.1 (We recommend using the URL sila.razer.com as it offers better security)
- This will send you to the admin menu where you will need to enter the admin password.
- Select WAN IP at the Status page.
- If the WAN IP Address starts with 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x your network is double NAT’ed.
Another method that shows if double NAT exists is a traceroute, which allows you to ping a server or device on the internet and see the path it takes between routers and servers.
- Open a Command Prompt (on a Windows PC that’s connected to the internet, click on the Start menu, type “cmd,” and hit Enter)
- Type “tracert 8.8.8.8“ to see the traceroute to Google’s DNS server.
- If you see two private IP addresses listed in the first two hops then you have double NAT. If you see only one private address and the second hop shows a public address, then you’re all good.
What is DFS within the Razer Sila?
The majority of the 5GHz spectrum available for Wi-Fi can only be used when other radio transmissions that are considered primary-use or mission-critical are not present. In North America, only 9 of 25 total 5GHz channels do not have this restriction. Everywhere else it is only 4 of 20 total 5GHz channels. To use all of the available channels, DFS technology is legally required.
With DFS (Dynamic Frequency Selection) Razer Sila quickly detects and identifies radio transmissions that are considered primary-use or mission-critical. These mission-critical devices are various flavors of radar systems used by specific industrial, federal civilian and military organizations. Once one of these is detected Razer Sila can safely direct client devices to another DFS channel or less crowded standard channel.
Razer Sila performs continuously monitors all 2.4GHz channels and all 5GHz channels measuring traffic volume and looking out for primary-use and mission-critical indications. It does not need to be enabled.
Some client devices may not be able to operate on all the DFS channels due to limitations in their radios. In these cases, Razer Sila includes optional Compatibility modes to allow these devices to have the best performance possible. These Compatibility modes are available on the mobile app or through the use of a web browser.
Are parental controls or settings offered on the Razer Sila?
Yes. With this feature, the admin will be allowed to block connected devices from accessing the internet based on user-specified time and day.
What does NAT stand for?
Network Address Translation (NAT) is the method that the Razer Sila uses to communicate to the internet with a single IP address that the ISP assigned even though a private home network has more than one device. This provides security by effectively hiding the entire internal network behind that address.
Why am I not able to access the Razer Sila’s data while overseas or traveling out of the country?
The Razer Sila servers operate in 3 regions:
- China
- Europe
- United States and Rest of the World
When the user sets up the router the first time, the data will be saved to the region where the user is located. Due Data Protection Policy, users’ data are not synchronized between the servers.
