Common Questions

What is the difference between the classic version and the original version?

Razer products were first established with a distinctive blue, only to be replaced by the striking green of today. To pay homage to Razer’s origins we have released the classic version that utilizes the signature blue LEDs while featuring current generation tech specs and features.

How does the Razer Tartarus Classic compare to the Razer Nostromo and Razer Orbweaver?

The Razer Tartarus Classic is the successor to the award-winning Razer Nostromo. It uses the same membrane key structure as the Razer Nostromo and incorporates the ergonomic design and form factor of the Razer Orbweaver.

Does the Razer Tartarus Classic have anti-ghosting capability?

Yes, the Razer Tartarus Classic’s 25 programmable keys feature full anti-ghosting, also known as N-key rollover (NKRO). This ensures that no matter how many keys you press down simultaneously, each and every key will still register as a command.

What do the keys on the keypad represent? How can I change them to my preference?

The default key mapping on the Razer Tartarus Classic is on the left side of a standard keyboard. The keys can be mapped to your preference with the help of Razer Synapse 2.0.

What does the thumb-pad do? Also, how do the other buttons on the keypad function?

The multi-directional thumb-pad is used for navigation by default and the button placements above and below the thumb-pad are mapped to ‘alt’ and ‘spacebar’ respectively. All 3 buttons can be customized to your own key bindings and macros.

How many keymaps and profiles can I save for my Razer Tartarus Classic?

You can save unlimited gaming profiles for your Razer Tartarus Classic, in addition, there are up to 8 keymaps per profile available. You can switch between them on-the-fly during gameplay without accessing the driver software. The keymap LED indicator will light up to show which keymap is currently active.

Can the Razer Tartarus Classic be used by people with extra-large or extra-small hands?

Yes, the Razer Tartarus Classic features an adjustable wrist rest which can be suited to any hand size possible.

Is the Razer Tartarus Classic a genre-specific keypad?

The Razer Tartarus Classic can be used for any genre. Be it FPS, MOBA or MMORPG, the keypad allows customization to suit your needs.

The greatest benefit would be to World of Warcraft players. Using the in-game configurator, you do not need to minimize your game in order to create or change your key binds.

What is the in-game configurator? Where can I get it from?

The Razer Tartarus Classic features an in-game configurator which works for World of Warcraft. The in-game configurator allows for on-the-fly recording of keymaps right from the game itself.
The configurator can be found in the “Add on” tab under Razer Tartarus Classic in Razer Synapse 2.0. Once enabled, you can access the configurator in-game itself without having to minimize to make any changes.

Troubleshooting

Since updating to Windows 10 Razer Synapse does not detect my device and show the correct product configurator. How do I fix this?

If you encounter this, perform Synapse update through Settings > Check for Updates. If the updates are not able to run or Synapse not able to load, uninstall Synapse and download the latest Synapse Framework from Razer support site.

Since I started using Windows 10 my computer will not go into sleep mode and my screen saver mode does not work. How do I fix this?

This happens due to compatibility issues between Joystick devices and Windows 10. To avoid this, disable the game controller device under Device Manager > Human Interface Device > HID-compliant Game Controller. However, do note that when you disable the game controller, you might lose virtual joystick related features in Synapse.

My Razer Tartarus Classic does not work correctly with a specific program or game. What should I do?

If you are experiencing issues with the Razer Tartarus Classic in a particular application, test the device in another application to confirm if the issue is specific to that application. If the Razer device functions properly in another application then the program is likely the cause of the issue. Feel free to contact Razer Support to report the issue and see if there are any fixes or workarounds for the issue.

Hardware

How do I change the Joystick button functionality within Synapse on my Mac?

Unfortunately, the Joystick function is only supported on PC.

What type of keys does the Razer Tartarus Classic use?

The Razer Tartarus Classic uses membrane keys. These give a soft cushioned touch similar to that of the Razer Nostromo. Membrane keys are quiet to use so they are great for late-night gaming sessions.

Can I bind modifier keys (shift, ctrl, alt) on the Razer Tartarus Classic?

Yes, you can bind modifier keys (and its key combinations) on the Razer Tartarus Classic and use them in conjunction with other keys to actuate unique commands.

How do I clean my Razer Tartarus Classic?

As with any office or home computer input devices, your keypad may collect dust or get dirty from regular use. Occasional cleaning will help keep the device clean. We recommend wiping your keypad with a cloth that is lightly dampened with a mild soap solution. Do not use solvents and other harsh chemicals in cleaning the device for it may affect and degenerate the plastic on keypads.

Note: Under no circumstances should you ever submerge the keypad in any type of liquid. Submerging the keyboard in any liquid will void the warranty on your keypad.

Software

Do I need software drivers to use the Razer Tartarus Classic?

The Razer Tartarus Classic is USB plug-and-play ready so you can use it right out of the box with standard keyboard controls during gameplay. However, in order to access advanced features such as individually programmable keys, macro recording, and profile/keymap setup, you will need to download and install Razer Synapse 2.0 and register an account.
