READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING YOUR UPRIGHT VACUUM.
Always connect to a polarized outlet (one slot is wider than the other). Unplug from outlet when not in use and before conducting maintenance. When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should be observed, including the following:
- Always connect to a polarized outlet (one slot is wider than the other). Do not modify the polarized plug to fit a non-polarized outlet or extension cord.
- Do not leave vacuum cleaner when it is plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing.
- Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
- Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
- Do not use for any purpose other than described in this User’s Guide. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
- Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, have it repaired at an authorized service center.
- Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
- Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
- Hold plug when rewinding onto cord reel. Do not allow plug to whip when rewinding.

- Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
- Turn off all controls before plugging or unplugging vacuum cleaner.
- Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
- Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene, etc.) or use in areas where they may be present.
- Do not use vacuum cleaner in an enclosed space filled with vapors given off by oil base paint, paint thinner, some moth proofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or toxic vapors.

Assembly
- Slide handle onto machine base
- Screw 2 screws into existing holes with Phillips-head screwdriver
- Insert hose wand clip into back of vacuum base and twist clockwise
- Line up tabs on the cuff of the hose with the notches on back of vacuum, twist hose clockwise to lock into place

Assembly
The only tool you’ll need to assemble your vacuum cleaner is a Phillips-head screwdriver.
- Locate the vacuum handle and remove the screw packet taped to the handle. The screw packet contains two screws of equal length.
- Stand the vacuum upright and slide the base of the handle firmly into the opening at the top of the vacuum body.
- Check to be sure the handle is fitted to the vacuum body. If there are any gaps between the handle and the vacuum base, continue to push the handle firmly into the base until the handle is flush.
- Insert the two screws from the screw packet into the existing holes. Push each screw firmly into the hole before beginning to secure the screw with a Phillips head screwdriver. If the handle is aligned properly on the vacuum base, you should be able to push the screw almost entirely into the hole until only the screw head is visible. Tighten the screw with a Phillips head screwdriver by rotating the screw clockwise.
- Attach the extension wand clip by inserting the clip into the back of the vacuum base and twisting clockwise. Mount the extension wand (with crevice tool inside) on the back of the vacuum.
- Attach the Twist ‘n Snap™ hose by lining up the tabs on the cuff with the corresponding notches on the back of the vacuum. Twist the Twist ‘n Snap hose clockwise to lock the hose into place.
- Slide the end of the hose wand into the hose wand base, and fold the hose over the upper hose wrap.
NOTE: The powerfoot will not suction properly unless the hose wand is firmly attached. - Slide the dusting brush into the opening below the upper hose wrap.
- The TurboBrush®/TurboEraser® pet tool (on select models) secures to the back of the handle in the mount above the upper hose wrap.
Operations
The Power switch on model 1332, 13321 and 1327 is located on the left side of the vacuum. Push the rocker switch “ON” (I) to vacuum, and “OFF” (O) when cleaning is complete. The Power switch on models 1322 and 1328 is located on the front of the handle. Push the button 
NOTE: You can find your model number on the back, bottom side of the vacuum on the white sticker by the UL rating.
Press the handle release pedal with your foot to place your CleanView vacuum into one of three cleaning positions.
- Upright – For storage and above floor cleaning with tools.
- Normal cleaning – Press handle release for household floor cleaning tasks.
- Low cleaning – With the vacuum in normal cleaning position, press handle release pedal again, use for reaching under low furniture such as tables, chairs or beds.
There are five height settings available for various floor surfaces. Turn the dial on the foot of the cleaner to the desired setting.
Lowest setting – For low pile carpet or bare floors. To pick up debris, it may be necessary to move up one setting.
Medium setting – For medium pile carpet.
Highest setting – For high pile and most shag carpet.
NOTE: For optimal carpet cleaning performance, adjust to the lowest practical setting. If your cleaner is difficult to push, adjust to the next higher setting.
If the dial is difficult to turn, tilt the cleaner back slightly to take the weight off the foot while turning.
- To move your cleaner from room to room, put the handle in the upright position, tilt the cleaner back on its rear wheels and push forward.
- The cleaner can also be moved by using the carrying handle.
Tips: Hair, string and small objects can block the vacuum hose or tools. Check them occasionally for obstructions.
Tips: Before cleaning under low furniture, check area first for objects that might harm the unit or block the vacuum hose.
The suction power indicator tells you when the air flow in your vacuum is reduced due to dirty filters or a clog in the hose. The suction power indicator will remain green until the airflow is reduced. At that time, it begins to change to red.
When it is fully red, the airflow is significantly reduced by a dirty filter or clog. Follow the steps on page 12 for clearing a clog. Follow the steps down below to clean your filters. All filters in the vacuum should be cleaned or replaced when the clean filter indicator turns red.
NOTE: When your vacuum is turned off, the suction power indicator will go to the green color setting. The suction power indicator only detects reductions in airflow when the vacuum power is on.
Tip: Hair, string and small objects can block the vacuum hose or tools. Check them occasionally for obstructions.
Your BISSELL CleanView vacuum is not only a powerful carpet and rug vacuum cleaner, it’s also a versatile above floor vacuum cleaner when you select one of the special tools.
- Raise handle to upright position.
- Grasp the hose wand and separate from the hose wand base.
- Attach tools by firmly pushing onto vacuum hose or extension wand.
a. Crevice Tool Use in tight narrow spaces.
b. Dusting Brush Use brush to dust furniture, blinds, books, lamps, shelves and baseboards.
c. Extension Wand Use with desired attachment for a longer reach.
d. TurboBrush®/TurboEraser® Pet Tool (model 1328) Use rotating brush action for small flat areas such as stairs and cushions. Press gently down and pull toward you in a raking motion; too much pressure will cause the brush to stop rotating.
e. Pet Hair Corner Tool (model 1328) Use tool in corners of room or stairs to pick up annoying dirt left stuck in the corners.
- Gently pull out power cord and stop when yellow is visible. Do not pull power cord beyond the red line. Plug cord into electrical outlet.
- To return cord, turn vacuum power switch off and remove plug from outlet. Hold plug and press automatic cord button located below the power switch (on 1332 and 1327 series models) to wind cord into reel. Do not allow plug to whip when rewinding.
Maintenance and Care
To maintain maximum cleaning performance, the following maintenance steps must be performed:
- Empty the dirt tank when the dirt reaches the “Full” line on the side. (Check down below)
- Check the pre-motor filter at least once a month and clean or replace as needed. To access the pre-motor filter, remove the Easy Empty dirt tank from the vacuum base and push the lid release button located on the carry handle. Remove the foam filter from the filter tray. On model 1328 Series, a second small carbon filter is included here. Replace the second small, black odor-absorbing carbon filter as needed.
NOTE: Black Carbon Filter is NOT washable. - The post-motor filter assists in the filtration process to return clean air to the room. Replace the post-motor filter every three to six months. To access the post-motor filter, remove the filter tray located below the Easy Empty dirt tank. When the filter becomes dirty, push the filter through the bottom of the tray to clean or replace the filter.
NOTE: The pleated post-motor filter may NOT be washed with water or detergent. If dust and/ or debris accumulates on the filter, gently tap the filter on the side of a garbage container.
Note: More frequent filter cleaning or replacing may be necessary if you are vacuuming new carpet, fine dust, or have allergy concerns. Follow the instructions on the following pages to perform these simple maintenance steps.
NOTICE: While vacuuming, certain carpets and low humidity conditions may generate small static discharges. The discharges are entirely harmless and are not associated in any way with the main power supply
The dirt tank needs to be emptied when the dirt reaches the “Full” line on the side of the tank.
- Unplug cleaner from electrical outlet.
- Remove the Easy Empty dirt tank from the vacuum base by pushing the tank release button.
- Hold the dirt tank over a garbage container. Press the bottom lid release button on the back of the dirt tank to empty dirt.
- Mount the Easy Empty dirt tank back on the vacuum base.
NOTE: The dirt tank may be washed in warm water with a mild detergent. Make sure it is completely dry before replacing.
Use only genuine BISSELL replacement filters in your BISSELL CleanView vacuum.
- Unplug the cleaner from electrical outlet.
- a. Remove the Easy Empty dirt tank and locate the pre-motor filter as described above.
b. Remove the foam filter from the filter tray. In model 1328 Series, a second carbon filter is included in here. The filter tray is fixed in-place, but may be removed for cleaning by unscrewing the tray. The foam filter and tray may be hand washed in warm water with a mild detergent, if desired. Rinse well, then air dry thoroughly before replacing the filter. Make sure all components are completely dry before replacing. A second black odor-absorbing filter can also be found here. Replace this when needed.
NOTE: Black Carbon Filter is NOT washable.
3. The inner cyclone may also be removed for cleaning. With the bottom of Easy Empty dirt tank open, reach up into the dirt cup and grasp the cyclone. Twist the cyclone clockwise to unlock and pull straight down to remove. Use the Lock and Unlock Icons on the tank to help guide the cyclone back in and lock it correctly. It is important to lock the cyclone back in correctly as it will impact performance and separation. The inner cyclone and dirt cup may be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Make sure all parts are dry before replacing.
Tip: When replacing the inner cyclone after cleaning, open the pre-motor filter lid to help guide the inner cyclone into the grooves at the top of the tank. Twist counterclockwise to lock the inner cyclone into place.
NOTICE: Do not place the dirt tank or other product components in the dishwasher. Hand wash only
Use only a genuine BISSELL replacement post-motor filter in your BISSELL CleanView vacuum.
- Unplug the cleaner from electrical outlet.
- The post-motor filter assists in the filtration process to return clean air to the room. Replace the post-motor filter every three to six months. To access the post-motor filter, remove the filter tray located below the Easy Empty dirt tank. When the filter becomes dirty, push the filter through the bottom of the tray to clean or replace the filter.
NOTE: The pleated post-motor filter may NOT be washed with water or detergent. If dust and/ or debris accumulates on the filter, gently tap the filter on the side of a garbage container.
You should check your vacuum cleaner’s rotating floor brush and drive belt regularly for wear or damage. You should also clean the brush and brush ends of strings, hair and carpet fibers. These can wrap around the brush and hamper its ability to effectively clean your carpet. Also remove any debris that has accumulated under the brush cover.
- Unplug cleaner from electrical outlet.
- Place handle in low position and turn vacuum cleaner over so bottom side is up.
- Remove the six screws with a Phillips head screwdriver. Lift the brush cover off.
- Grasp rotating floor brush at both ends and lift straight out of the vacuum foot. Slip off the belt.
- Clean strings, hair and other debris from rotating floor brush, paying particular attention to brush ends.
- Clean strings, hair and other debris from motor pulley and drive belt areas.
- Check drive belt carefully for wear, cuts or stressed areas, and replace if necessary (see instructions on following page).
- Check air passageway for obstructions. Remove debris from this area.
Use only a genuine BISSELL style 9 replacement belt (#203-1093) in your BISSELL CleanView vacuum.
- Unplug cleaner from electrical outlet.
- With rotating floor brush removed from vacuum cleaner (steps 1-4 of Check rotating floor brush and drive belt), grasp old drive belt and remove from motor pulley. Discard old drive belt.
- Place new drive belt over motor pulley and stretch other end over rotating floor brush in the space between the bristles.
- Place ends of rotating floor brush down into slots on sides as shown.
- Turn rotating floor brush by hand several times in the direction of motor pulley. If properly installed, drive belt will center itself on rotating brush.
- Reposition the brush cover and screw all six screws back into place.
Low suction or poor pickup may be due to a clog in the vacuum cleaner. If you notice a change in the sound of the motor or a reduction in the spinning action of the dirt or brush roll, check for clogs.
- Unplug cleaner from electrical outlet.
- Remove Easy Empty dirt tank from vacuum base and empty dirt and debris.
- Remove inner cyclone from Easy Empty dirt tank (check above) and check for debris build-up or clogs in the upper tank.
- Check the suction inlet for a clog.
- Grasp the hose wand to separate from the hose wand base. Check for a clog in the base, the wand or within the hose.
- Remove the screw attaching the hose wand base to the vacuum. Straighten the hose wand base and check for clogs with a long, narrow object such as a broom stick. Do not use sharp objects like a clothes hanger, as these may puncture the hose.
- If the clog persists, follow the instructions for Checking the rotating floor brush above and inspect the air passageway for obstructions.
