FAQs
Do I have a line voltage system?
No, I don’t have a line voltage system. I’m using the Honeywell RTH5160 Non-Programmable Thermostat.
Will this work if I only have a two wire system? I only have one red and one white wire since my heating system is just a fan pretty much.
YES! put the red on R and put the White wire under (w) on it – I just installed this and going to purchase another!
Can anyone confirm please that this works with radiant (hydronic/hydrant/water) heating?
The Honeywell RTH5160D Digital Non-Programmable Thermostat is designed to work with standard low voltage systems, including radiant heating (Boiler) systems. If you have additional concerns or questions, feel free to contact us at 1-855-733-5465, or through live chat at http://www.honeywellhome.com/en/support; hours for both are from 8 AM to 10 PM CST Monday through Sunday. Does this work on multi stage furnaces?
Yes
Will this work with comfortbridgetm technology?
the Honeywell Home RTH5160D1003 Non-programmable Thermostat is designed to work with most 24V systems. To determine if this thermostat is compatible with your system, we recommend reaching out to the equipment manufacture.
My old thermostat has rc and rh with a jumper. this thermostat does not sepearte the two. do i just connect the red wire to the r on this new one?
Yes
Is this compatible with a forced air system?
This should be compatible with a forced air system. I have a heat pump and are coming out is forced air and it works perfectly.
Will this thermostat work on our Air conditioner that doesn’t have a heat pump. We have a heat strip.
This thermostat will work on a central air conditioning/heating system.
Will this work on a 5 wire system, i have 5 wires coming out of the wall going to my current thermostat
My system was two wires, red and white. The instruction manual has directions for all types of connections.
Anybody else have problems with the ambient air reading being off?
no
Can i use this with riello start 24? i have 2 cords coming out of it, which use 220 volts to signal the boiler to start/stop.
This thermostat is only for use in a low voltage system. Connecting a 220 volt source will blow it out and trip a circuit breaker. It would be dangerous.
How large are the numbers?
Large bold numbers (room temp) are 1/2 W X 13/16 H. Smaller numbers (set temp) are 11/32 H. Very readable and back light illuminates for several seconds when button depressed. Love this thermostat. Use it to control my pellet stove.
What is the swing temp for this thermostat?
Swing temp? Mine stays where set and doesn’t even move a single degree. Very precise. I also set auto 2 degrees apart and will still switch between ac and heat.
Would you tell me how big the display screen is?
the display screen isn’t much larger than 3×3. Please reach out to our support team on Facebook/Twitter with a private message if you have any further questions. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Is their any Emergency heat option?
the thermostat has an option for Em heat (only for heat pumps with auxiliary heat). For further information and compatibility data, please contact our technical support team at 1-800-468-1502. We’ll be glad to assist you.
Will this work with a millivolt gas fireplace?
Furnace systems are generally designed around standard 28v power. They do not appear to be compatible.
Shouldn’t this thermostat last longer, than a year?
Yes, absolutely. Now the battery won’t, but that is easy to change yourself. This type f thermostat is a set it and forget it variety.
